It might seem silly, but our method worked really well! We were on a PC cruise so we needed two weeks worth of milk. We bought cartons of the non-refrigerated milk (I guess that’s obvious!). Maybe 9 cartons or more? I stacked them and wrapped them A LOT in plastic wrap. I actually used the kind movers use because that’s what I had on hand. Then put the whole bundle in a cardboard box with bubble wrap and padding material and checked the box as luggage. When we opened it in our room, one of the cartons had the smallest of leaks, but all the liquid was contained in the 500 layers of plastic wrap. It was super slick (patting myself on the back a lot here)! Hope this helps!

Thanks. I think we'll be in luck then. We're driving to the port and it's only a 5 night cruise. I don't drink it so didn't know there are non-refrigerated cartons. I was planning on taking a cooler!

You got VERY lucky. If the leak had been serious and other luggage damaged, YOU would have been responsible for the cleaning and/or replacement.

All beverages are supposed to be carried on by hand and not checked. Will porters take it? Of course, because they want a tip. But the porters will not be the ones held accountable when there is damage to other luggage.

You got VERY lucky. If the leak had been serious and other luggage damaged, YOU would have been responsible for the cleaning and/or replacement.

I neglected to say that I checked on the airline but carried on the boat. (We opened the box at the hotel the night before.) To be honest, I would not have attempted this method at all unless I was certain that a major accident would not happen. My husband is an engineer so it was an overthought execution for sure. But a good reminder about liquids in bags given to porters.
