This indiana girl calls is Pop!

One more chiming in on the great pop/soda debate :thumbsup2
I'm from upstate NY and we called it Pop. When I went to college there were a lot of kids from the NYC area and they called it soda. You always knew which half of the state someone was from based on that alone! Now I'm in NC and they call it soda or coke - but coke referrs to all fizzing beverages, not just colas. :confused3

The luncheon looked great. The pictures of the food looked very yummy. The gifts you bought everyone were great. Love those bracelets, so pretty. Can't wait for more as usual.

How true! Actually, I lived in Indiana for a while and they called it soda too and Kris is in Ohio where they also call it soda. Maybe it's just a Michigan thing

To jump in, we in CT call it soda. I have a friend who lives in TN and she said they call it "coke" even if your serving a pepsi.

I tired to PM you today and it said that your stored messages were to full to allow any more. I thought you might like to know.
Anna Marie

i hope all is well. sorry to hear about ATA, but i am sure everything will work out for the best! can't wait to hear more details... have fun this weekend

Lovin' your detailed report, Vanessa! You have so many special touches. :goodvibes May I ask where you found the Mickey head wrapping paper?

To add to the soda/pop thing.... DH is from Chicago and they call it pop. St. Louis - we call it soda. In parts of southern MO and while living in TN, they call it coke. It doesn't matter if you want a sprite or orange or Dr. Pepper; that's just the flavor of your coke! :rotfl:

Okay, I can't resist, down in Texas we call it coke also.... In fact, we were visiting family in Wisc., I ordered a "coke" at Pizza Hut and before I could specify what type the waiter took off and that was just what he brought me. Let's just say I learned my lesson....:rotfl2:
Love reading your TR Vanessa. I've been married for 13yrs and in regards to your MIL just let those things roll off. One day she will come around. (lets hope so) The only thing that should matter is that her son is HAPPY...

Great TR so far. I can't believe your MIL!! What was everyone else's reaction when she refused her gift! OMGoodness How rude! :scared1:

Jennifer

Thankfully, everyone was opening their gifts at once, so I think only a couple of people noticed :upsidedow

Whereabouts in Indiana are you from? We have family in Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Vincennes. I lived in Lafayette for a while :goodvibes

Vanessa -- Your luncheon looks fabulous! It is so nice to see you surrounded by people who love and appreciate all that you did for them. I think MILs are just supposed to be difficult. I am lucky in that mine is better than most. I am so glad you and Kris are together this weekend. Howard and I spent most of our first 5 months of married life apart and missed each other desperately. Enjoy your time together!

Thank you Cam, we had a great time! The weather was actually nice for this time of year too when we went to the baseball game and were able to spend some time at a park today before I headed back. We also got to finish our thank you cards today, which was a relief :) My matron of honor and her husband were apart for 10 months after their wedding, so I know I can survived 6 weeks. We're both excited for Hawaii :cool1:

It is strange how some areas call everything a coke, I've noticed that before in my travels :rotfl:

Thanks Laura, I'm hoping to get more added tomorrow. I found out that Randy is sending out my CD tomorrow too, so I should have the actual wedding pictures later this week. :cheer2:

im glad you had a great time this weekend and i bet your glad he is moving closer to you here in a couple of weeks...

We were able to contest the original charges and booked a new flight on Friday, so hopefully as long as Northwest doesn't go under now too :lmao: we should be okay.

you shouldn't have to worry about Northwest, they are partners with Continental and they are a sturdy airline. I am sure things will get better for you...just a few speed bumps along the way...

First of all the favor's for the rehearsal were awesome and I love the room at Fresh!!!! It's very nice.

Your mom is so cute..I love her reaction to the gift!!!!!!

As for you MIL,that's ashame.I'm sorry she reacted that way.

Thanks for the reassurance :) Northwest's main hub is in Detroit, so thankfully I feel more comfortable with them too. The only thing they are known for is making people late, everyone around here calls them Northworst :rotfl:

Thanks, Lynn, I was really happy with everything at FRESH. It was a great place for our lunch.

It was so strange to see the polar opposite reactions from our two moms to their gifts. It makes me thankful that my mom belongs to me :goodvibes

So glad you and Kris had a nice visit. I can't believe your Thank You notes are done! I am so impressed!

HEY, FIGMENT-WOMAN! A WORD IF YOU DON'T MIND?!

Now, I've been away from the boards for about a week and I've been looking forward to your TR and what do I find? Hmmm? NO WEDDING DAY!!

Love the TR so far, do you think your MIL was embarrassed by receiving a present or just ungrateful? it's a real shame you had that but it sounds like you part expected it.

The restaurant at the Dolphin looks really nice. We might have to check that out when we are there. We only got as far as the bridge one night when we stayed at the Boardwalk and didn't find time for the mini golf.

Thanks, it was a relief to have them done. We're still waiting to mail them out until we get our CD from Randy. We got individual shots with each family and I wanted to include a print with each card. :)

:guilty: I know, I am way behind. After being gone for two days this weekend plus no free time at work this week (we're on productions away from the office today and tomorrow). I promise to get to it soon. I'm going to hopefully finish up the rehearsal day tonight (or at least I'm going to add some to it :)) We have a taping about 2 hours away tomorrow and we won't be getting home until midnight, so I know I won't get a chance to do anything again until Thursday. Plus we had some water damage in our new condo yesterday; the pipes for the outside spout for the house leaked and Kris had a ton of books and posters down there. Thankfully, we weren't getting carpet put down there untile next week.

I'm also dragging my feet because I really don't have too many pictures from the wedding itself yet. We're waiting on Randy's shots and several people still are supposed to send us CDs with their shots.

To be honest, I think his mom is just ungrateful. She is really weird about presents.

I love the putt-putt courses by the Dolphin. We have done both of them, but the Fantasia one is my favorite. :thumbsup2
