Day 16, August 29

Adventures Away, Take 2 - Part 4

Another couple joined us, and they sat down opposite us and we introduced ourselves and started some small talk.
Shortly after we were served our drinks. I had ordered the

IMG_6839.jpg

Artist's Impression, Absolut Vanilla, Frangelico, Passion Fruit Purée and Orange Juice and Tom had ordered the

IMG_6838.jpg

Renaissance, Vodka Raspberry, Triple Sec, Raspberry Purée, Lime Juice, Sparkling Wine. They also brought out some soft drinks for all of us and at that time the couple at the other end of the table left as they were feeling too sick for eating.
We had already snacked on some of the nice

IMG_6832.jpg

IMG_6830.jpg

Garlic and Herb Focaccia Bread before we were served our starters. Tom had the

IMG_6842.jpg

Ahi Tuna Tartare, with Caviar, Chives, and Wasabi Cream, while I had ordered the

IMG_6841.jpg

Wild Mushroom Risotto and Porcini Twist, served with Parmigiano-Reggiano and Black Truffle Oil.

Right before we were served our starters we decided that instead of sitting opposite each others it would be a much better idea and much easier to watch the show and transformation of the restaurant if Teresa and Mick, our new friends, sat next to us.

IMG_6833.jpg

They changed seats and Teresa and we talked a lot while enjoying our starters. I felt the need to tell Teresa that I was taking food photos to post it on a website I frequent, and was surprised to hear that she was reading on a board too. :rolleyes1
Wouldn’t be the DISboards, Teri? Yes, that’s it!! How exciting is that, to be seated at the same table as a fellow DISer! :dance3::woohoo::dance3::woohoo::dance3:
Needless to say our conversations got much more Disneyfied then. All the time the dining room changed bit by bit and we finally were served our main courses.

IMG_6847.jpg

Tom had ordered

IMG_6844.jpg

Shere Khans Asian Marinated Beef Short Ribs, on Smashed Yucca topped with Wok-fried Bok Choy and Red Cabbage. My choice was

IMG_6843.jpg

Lemon-Thyme Marinated Chicken Breast, on top of Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Root Vegetables, and Grain Mustard Jus, after it had been recommended by the server. While we were still munching on our mains the “show” and final transformation of the dining room took place.

IMG_6848.jpg

Alex our new server was already quite concerned as we were already late in ordering dessert. Tom chose the

IMG_6858.jpg

Chilled Lemon Soufflé with Raspberry Drizzle and I had the

IMG_6851.jpg

Animator's Sweet Temptations, a Trio of

IMG_6853.jpg

Strawberry Sable,

IMG_6857.jpg

Cranberry and Orange Cheesecake, and

IMG_6854.jpg

Double-Fudge Chocolate Cake. When we finally finished our desserts the restaurant was nearly empty, but Teri and I had talked about their next day’s excursion and we had let them know that we would not have dinner with them the next evening, as we had another reservation at Palo.

It was quite hard to get around the ship by that time as the sea had now gotten really rough. Tom and I walked back to our stateroom,

IMG_6861.jpg

got out the Fish Extender gifts and started our first round of gift delivering. Since the group was smaller this time and we already knew our way around the ship we were done in about half an hour. We walked outside on the veranda, sat for a while watching the WONDER cutting through the waves, but we were both tired and went to bed shortly after.

Oh my, your Artist Impression drink looks soooo good. I love anything with passionfruit in and that looks deliciously scrummy and thick :teeth:

I really enjoyed it. Since I rarely have a drink here at home I always need something with lots of juice in it! And that one really hit the spot! :thumbsup2

Oooh if you love that you have to get the Magical Star Cocktail (or Magical something) from the Tambu Lounge (not sure if its elsewhere too). That is the most fruitiest alcoholic cocktail I have had, but beware these can be lethal as they taste like fruit juice, could not taste the alcohol at all!!! :teeth:

Thank you! I'll put that on my list of "must try" items! It sounds a bit like the "backscratcher" they serve at the Poly as well. Very fruity, but boy, is that thing packed with booze! :lmao:

How wonderful that you got to sit with fellow Disers.
What a small world.
I love the picture of Tom laying on the bed with the life jacket on.!

You have so many TRs and PTRs, it's hard for me to keep them straight! I'm finally all caught up.

All those alcoholic drinks you got are extra charge right? I know soft drinks are included, but not sure how much they charge you for the adult drinks. So many of them look SOOOO good.

I think it's really cool to see people in those chairs IN THE WATER. Also nice to see a sandy beach too. Around here, we have tons of little rocks along the shoreline of our beaches.

I guess back to back cruising happens pretty often for DCL huh? It's great that you didn't have to pack up!

Wow....the food on your first night looks REALLY good so far.

You'll be back to Disney so soon! And it's so great that you were tablemates with a DISer!

So awesome doing a back to back cruise. I love how empty the terminal was and that you got to leisurely take photos :)

Loving all the updates, DCL cruises really are amazing looking. Wonder what they compare to with the likes of Royal Caribbean :)

Hi Stefy! We took a Royal Caribbean cruise in October - my TR is in my siggie - "On the Disney Cruise..." You will get my comparison there!;)

I will sign on to your PTR - I love a good wedding story!

Hi Karin! Well, I am finally up to date on one of your threads!:yay:

Your day at Serenity Bay was just perfect. :cloud9: We still think our day at SB was the best day we ever spent anywhere!!!

Oh, I would love to be doing a back to back! It is so sad to be leaving the cruise.

MMMM your "Welcome Back" drink looks really delish! Of course I love Raspberry anything, so Tom's looks really nice, too! Maybe I would have to have both! :rotfl2:

I'm glad Mr. KIA didn't come with you this time, and that you made new friends. Too bad about the sickies.... :sad2:

YW :) It's so good :cloud9: Dave had the Backscratcher and liked it, was sad he didn't have room to bring the backscratcher home

Ooh thanks, will check it out :)

Aww thanks, see you over there, not long to go til the big day too :)

Sorry for the hijack reply Karin :flower3:

We were super lucky being seated with Teresa and Mick! They were the nicest people and we are going to meet them again this summer! :woohoo:

I know Yuki, all my trip reports, dining reviews and pre trip reports are starting to confuse me too! :lmao:

Yes, there is a charge for those adult drinks. I have no idea how much they were as all you do at the moment is sign a piece of paper, but I can tell you, it ADDS up once they hand you the bill at the end of the cruise! :rotfl2:

As for the chairs in the water - I had seen these photos myself before our first cruise and didn't know if they were just promotional material or for real. Last year we had a really nice server who told us that the drinks were best consumed IN the water and he personally carried two chairs down for us to enjoy our drinks in. :goodvibes Disney service is THE BEST!!!!!!!

I am not sure if cruising back 2 back is VERY popular. We only found out about that when we ourselves cruised back 2 back that there are always a few people who like to stay onboard for a second cruise.

We will go back to Disney in just 3 more weeks! I cannot believe how fast it is approaching! :yay:

Even though your post was not addressed to me I have to admit that I sneaked over to your TR too! :thumbsup2
Thanks for pointing out the link! :goodvibes

:woohoo: Wonderful for being all caught up ....... I know the feeling of falling behind! :lmao:

We LOVE Serenity Bay and had the most wonderful day there. It's the reason we booked a third cruise for this summer!

You have no idea HOW happy we were to see Mr. KIA leave and how happy we were to be seated with Teresa and Mick! They are such wonderful people and we had an aweful lot of fun together. :thumbsup2

We have a few of those backscraters at home! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I don't see that as a hijack, Stefy! It's just to widen our horizons (or love Disney even more! ;))

Day 17, August 30

More Rum, more cake, more fun, more Palo - Part 1

The night had been a bit rocky, especially when crossing the Florida Straight, but even though we were up again at the crack of dawn.

IMG_6867.jpg

Well, we were up for the sunrise and then went back to bed. :lmao:

It was another Nassau day and this time we were taking it easy. We got up again when the Wonder docked in Nassau

IMG_6871.jpg

IMG_6876.jpg

IMG_6890.jpg

and sat out on the verandah for a while.

DSC_0459.jpg

DSC_0460.jpg

It was time for breakfast, but neither of us really cared for going up to either Beachblanket or down to Tritons, so we decided that instead of having breakfast we would have a drink out of the fridge and try some of the rumcake.

IMG_6891.jpg

IMG_6892-1.jpg

The cake was delicious so we decided we better get some to take home. Later that morning we finally made our way off the ship.

DSC_0471.jpg

We slowly walked over into Nassau, checking a few touristy souvenir shops along the way. Tom wanted to pick up a few things from the Bacardi store and there was one other store that sold the rum cake, so went there to explore as well. They had several kinds of cake to try and several kinds of rum too, so we got a sampler box of the rum. We were looking for the Del Sol shop to get some special T-shirt and when we finally found it, spent some more time and money there.

By then we were getting hungry and headed back to the ship for lunch. Once back on board we went back to our stateroom, were happy to find some more goodies in our Fish Extender and after freshening up went down to Tritons for lunch.
We were seated right away, at a four top next to the main walkway. Our server was over quickly, and explained the menu

IMG_6910.jpg

and took our drinks order. Diet Cokes, what else! Tom tried the

IMG_6896.jpg

Vegetable Quesadillas, served with Guacamole, Sour Cream and Pico de Gallo. I tried the

IMG_6895.jpg

Ginger infused Carrot Soup. We enjoyed both of them very much and when I took photos of our food, the little Japanese girl at the table next to us, looked over and laughed.

Soon after we had finished our starters, we were served our entrees. Tom’s choice was the

IMG_6900.jpg

IMG_6901.jpg

Angus Chuck Burger, grilled ½ lb burger with Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Onions and Tomatoes, served with French fries and coleslaw

IMG_6898.jpg

which was served with some very special ketchup. ;) :lmao:
I wanted something smaller and went for the

IMG_6902.jpg

Turkey Melt Sandwich on a Whole Grain Panini. Thinly sliced roast turkey breast, Thousand Island Dressing and melted Cheddar Cheese served with Potato Chips.
I grabbed the camera and started taking pictures of the food, when the little girl leaned over and said, “My mum does that too.” :lmao: We all had a good laugh and it turned out that the mum at the other table was a bit of a foodie too and loved taking photos of her food!
Once we were done taking photos we tried our food and it was delicious. I was wrong about the portion size of mine, as it was huge! We thought about skipping dessert, but our server told us that we “had to” order some, or our meal would not be complete.

IMG_6914.jpg

Can't believe it I'm finally caught up! All I gotta say is you both know how to vacation!!! Wow.... 30 days...

Karin, Mick and I had to chuckle a little about the sick couple. They looked so miserable that first night at the table. But why didn't they come back to our table when they got to feeling better?? We always spoke to them later on when we ran into them a couple of times.

We only ran into them once on the ship and had a few words, we wondered too why they never came back ........ the food was pretty good, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! :rotfl2:

A deck party and the Golden Mickeys?! Sounds like a great kickoff to the next cruise! :thumbsup2

Those desserts at Animator's Palette look fantastic! And I love the towel animal. So cute! :goodvibes

Nassau sounds lovely! It's good to take it easy once in a while though, and Tom's picture with the CM is great! :)

Disney knows HOW TO throw a party, they are so much fun and their shows are out of this world! :thumbsup2

The stateroom hosts do a wonderful job on the Towel Animals. We got a different one every day! :goodvibes

There is only so much you can do and see in Nassau, so we decided to just take it easy and it is really easy to go through customs in Nassau!

More Rum, more cake, more fun, more Palo - Part 2

We thought about skipping dessert, but our server told us that we “had to” order some, or our meal would not be complete.

IMG_6914.jpg

And who are we not to take the hint. Our server handed us the menu again, to find a dessert we wanted and we both quickly found something we wanted. Tom ordered the

IMG_6919.jpg

Hot Chocolate Fudge Pudding with Vanilla Sauce and I wanted to try the

IMG_6916.jpg

Key Lime Pie, Lime Custard on Graham Cracker Crust and a Meringue Topping. We ordered

IMG_6913.jpg

IMG_6912.jpg

two Espressos as well and really enjoyed our desserts and beverages as well. After lunch we went to explore the ship a bit more before we left the ship again, to walk back into Nassau

IMG_6927.jpg

IMG_6926.jpg

IMG_6931.jpg

to find some Bahamian Beers for Tom to try and buy some more of those rum cakes. We went to the Tortuga Rum Company store

IMG_6937.jpg

to get the assortment of rum cakes and a few extras, one for our stateroom host Arturo and two more for our WPE servers. Then we walked over to the Bacardi shop to pick up some of his favourite rum and to the off license store to pick up some beers to try.

IMG_6924.jpg

We got back to the ship by mid afternoon and were personally greeted by another CM, Ion, who made his way into Nassau. When we were back and on the way to our stateroom we ran into Arturo, who we always had a conversation with whenever we saw him. When he mentioned that he didn’t have time to go into Nassau we handed him his rum cake and told him that we had thought of him and got him a little something. He was quite happy and amazed that his guests got HIM a present.
We relaxed out on the veranda for a short time before we were overcome by the need to snack on something. So off we went to Goofy’s Galley. It was hard to decide because there are so many yummy choices, but in the end we decided on a

IMG_6940.jpg

IMG_6942.jpg

Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich,

IMG_6943.jpg

a Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap and

IMG_6944.jpg

a Lamb Wrap with Couscous for each of us! What a yummy treat. We took it back to our room and sat out on the veranda enjoying it and the view of Nassau.

DSC_0460.jpg

Great updates :) Those wraps and sandwiches look delish :)

You must must must (pretty please) send me directions to the nearest rum store so I can get some of that delicious looking cake. Just showed Dave and he went "oooooooh"
