Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

We were super lucky being seated with Teresa and Mick! They were the nicest people and we are going to meet them again this summer! :woohoo:

I know Yuki, all my trip reports, dining reviews and pre trip reports are starting to confuse me too! :lmao:

Yes, there is a charge for those adult drinks. I have no idea how much they were as all you do at the moment is sign a piece of paper, but I can tell you, it ADDS up once they hand you the bill at the end of the cruise! :rotfl2:

As for the chairs in the water - I had seen these photos myself before our first cruise and didn't know if they were just promotional material or for real. Last year we had a really nice server who told us that the drinks were best consumed IN the water and he personally carried two chairs down for us to enjoy our drinks in. :goodvibes Disney service is THE BEST!!!!!!!

I am not sure if cruising back 2 back is VERY popular. We only found out about that when we ourselves cruised back 2 back that there are always a few people who like to stay onboard for a second cruise.

We will go back to Disney in just 3 more weeks! I cannot believe how fast it is approaching! :yay:

Even though your post was not addressed to me I have to admit that I sneaked over to your TR too! :thumbsup2
Thanks for pointing out the link! :goodvibes

:woohoo: Wonderful for being all caught up ....... I know the feeling of falling behind! :lmao:

We LOVE Serenity Bay and had the most wonderful day there. It's the reason we booked a third cruise for this summer!

You have no idea HOW happy we were to see Mr. KIA leave and how happy we were to be seated with Teresa and Mick! They are such wonderful people and we had an aweful lot of fun together. :thumbsup2

We have a few of those backscraters at home! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I don't see that as a hijack, Stefy! It's just to widen our horizons (or love Disney even more! ;))

Thanks for checking out my "other" cruise report, Karin.

Those "chair in the water" pics are the best - It's what makes me Dream of CC!:cloud9:

Looks like a nice relaxing day in Nassau! I love all the brightly colored buildings there, and the carriage rides look fun, too. Too bad the surrounding area is a little unsavory :sad2:

I love your breakfast - Rum cakes from TORTUGA!!!pirate: I don't know why, but I just love any excuse to say TORTUGA. Guess I'll have to book a cruise that stops there. :rotfl2:

Your lunch looks wonderful - especially Tom's dessert!:thumbsup2
We love the sandwiches and wraps from Goofy's! Sometimes that's our lunch of choice rather than taking time to wait in line at the buffet or wait to be served inside.

Great updates :) Those wraps and sandwiches look delish :)

You must must must (pretty please) send me directions to the nearest rum store so I can get some of that delicious looking cake. Just showed Dave and he went "oooooooh"

You will find that the food on the Disney ships is pretty amazing! I already checked and they have those wraps and sandwiches on the DREAM too!

You can actually see the Bacardi shop from the ship. Here's a google earth image with both places marked!

I loved to read about all the differences between the cruise lines! Thanks for writing that!

Those chair in the water pics cry out Castaway Cay for me! ;) :lmao:

Cruising to Tortuga! You got it girl! Would be the ultimate fun! ;) Do they have rum cakes there? :rotfl2:

We really enjoyed Triton's for lunch! It was just such a leisurely pace and the restaurant was half empty!
We usually take those wraps back to our room and eat them out on the balcony! Nothing more relaxing that "eating at home"! ;)

I love the colors of the buildings in Nassau. Very Caribbean. :goodvibes

Those wraps look fantastic! :thumbsup2

Our veranda faces Nassau and it was just so relaxing sitting outside and just taking in the view!

DCL food is yumma!

Day 17, August 30

More Rum, more cake, more fun, more Palo - Part 3

We took it back to our room and sat out on the veranda enjoying it and the view of Nassau.

The skies changed from blue to grey constantly, but it was amazing to see that it never started to actually rain. After a nice long relaxing rest in our stateroom we walked around the ship to deliver more Fish Extender gifts.
When we were done we walked up onto the top deck and waited for the ship to pull out of Nassau.

IMG_6593.JPG

We spent quite some time there, watching Nassau disappear in the distance, before we got changed and walked down to the Walt Disney Theatre to watch Toy Story, the Musical.

The performance was wonderful as always and soon it was time to walk up to Palo for our dinner.
We were welcomed by the Maitre d’ and asked if it was possible to have Oliver as our server again. Sure, he would grant our wish. We were seated after a very short wait and were served our drinks,

IMG_6950.jpg

a Whiskey Sour and

IMG_6951.jpg

a Strawberry Daiquiri. Then, while we were still studying the menu, Oliver served the

IMG_6945.jpg

Pane Casalingo, freshly baked bread selection from their bakery accompanied by homemade dips,

IMG_6947.jpg

olive tapenade, aioli and roasted pepper & garlic. And there was still another plate of yummy food,

IMG_6946.jpg

the Specialita' Del Palo: Antipasto Freddo Prosciutto, Bresaola, Parmesan Reggiano, Marinated Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes. It was hard to decide on a starter but we were finally ready to order. Tom went for the

IMG_6956.jpg

Frito di Calamari, lightly-crusted calamari served with deep-fried cherry peppers and I ordered the

IMG_6954.jpg

Tuscan Minestrone Soup scented with Fresh Basil.
Once we had finished our starters we were served a palate cleanser,

IMG_6958.jpg

Lime Sorbet. For my main course I ordered the

IMG_6963.jpg

Lobster and Mascarpone Ravioli, freshly prepared served with a light truffle beurre blanc and Tom had the

IMG_6968.jpg

Grilled Sea Scallops with Borlotti Beans and Pancetta, served with a tomato borlotti bean sauce. Both main courses were equally good and we took our time to finish them. I wanted to try the Tiramisu for dessert, but Oliver talked me out of it, explaining that it wasn’t like a traditional Italian dessert, but more a very Americanized version. So I went with his recommendation which was the

IMG_6971.jpg

Panna Cotta, sweet, white cream custard with fresh Berries, which was a very good choice. Tom wanted something “less” sweet and chose the

IMG_6976.jpg

Pineapple and Almond Ravioli, lightly poached pineapple filled with an almond mousse. Nice guy that Oliver is, he brought out a

IMG_6972.jpg

Chocolate Soufflé as well for us to share.

IMG_6969.jpg

Then it was time to settle the bill and we were served a farewell drink,

IMG_6979.jpg

Lemoncello with Lime Sorbet. We said goodbye to Oliver and as stuffed as we were wobbled back to our stateroom.

IMG_6981.jpg

Thankfully our fridge was well stocked with liquid goodies, so we sat outside on the verandah for a while and enjoyed the night air out at sea.

Looks like a great finish to a nice relaxing day!:thumbsup2
Your Palo dinner looks very nice! I see you ordered something a little different than last time. :goodvibes

Dessert looks wonderful, too. It seems like Tom's would have been more sweet than yours! :cloud9:

It was a really nice and laid back day in Nassau. We actually enjoyed it more than the days we did excursions there. :lmao:

There were several things on the menu we wanted to try, so several visits to Palo were just wonderful! :thumbsup2

And Tom's dessert definitely was sweeter than mine. :lmao: But he enjoyed it anyway! :thumbsup2

What a great evening! You would never think of Toy Story as a musical, but it looks like it's actually really good!

Dinner at Palo tops of the whole thing of course! :thumbsup2

The food looks amazing. I had a similar sandwich from the to go spot on the Dream. I think it was tomato and cheese?. But it was good. And the wraps were awesome too!
I wish I had lost my SD card with most of my Nassau pictures on it.

It was a perfectly relaxing and pampered evening! The Musical is fun and being well looked after at Palo makes things perfect! :thumbsup2

I really hope they have those sandwiches on the DREAM too! They were so good - ours was ham, cheese and tomato! :cloud9:
It's a shame you never got your SD card back. :sad2:

Day 18, August 31

The heaven that is called Castaway Cay and another attack of the Pirates IN the Caribbean - Part 1

We were up real early again this morning, as Castaway Cay was calling us again. And I wanted to see the ship approaching the island.

IMG_6989.JPG

So by 6am I walked out onto the balcony and you could already see the island in the distance. We went back and forth between the balcony and the stateroom for a while until we could see the Pirate ship in the distance

IMG_6991.JPG

and we watched the ship turn around and docking at Castaway Cay. Then it was time to hop into the shower and dress for a day in paradise. We had ordered room service breakfast again and it arrived spot on at the time we had ordered it. We had ordered Tea and Coffee, a Fruit bowl, Tom had a Chocolate milk, and we had some Toast, a Bagel, a Croissant and a Chocolate Croissant.

IMG_6993.JPG

IMG_6998.JPG

There were some little containers of cream cheese and jelly as well. We sat in our stateroom, enjoyed our breakfast, but were already eager to leave. And then finally the announcement that we were able to disembark. So we picked up our gear and headed towards the exit. After picking up a towel we headed for the post office to post the few postcards we had brought and which NEVER made it to their destination.

IMG_7053.JPG

Don’t know what they do to them, but this is the second time we posted some cards and none of them made it to their destination.
Then we finally headed to the tram. The first one took us over to the family beach and the shops.

DSC_0516.JPG

DSC_0512.JPG

We walked towards the family beach and took a few photos before we strolled through the shops, met some Cast Members who we had already met earlier in the trip, had a little chat and finally hopped on the tram out to Serenity Bay.

DSC_0524.JPG

There were very few people out there at that time and we chose some deck chairs, placed our towels onto them, our bags under the chairs and started applying sunscreen. We sat and enjoyed the sun for a while until we could not hold back any longer, we needed to play in the lagoon.

IMG_7007.JPG

So we put on the water shoes and off we went.

Day 18, August 31

The heaven that is called Castaway Cay and another attack of the Pirates IN the Caribbean - Part 2

So we put on the water shoes and off we went. The water was crystal clear and not cold at all.

DSC_0536.JPG

I don’t know HOW long we stayed in the water, but I guess it was quite some time as there were a lot more people on the beach when we came back to our deck chairs.
While we were still trying to dry off, one of the friendly Cast Members, serving drinks came by to ask if we wanted something to drink. Yes, sure, we had not had a decent drink since the last evening. So we both ordered a

IMG_7011.JPG

Konk Kooler, Myers's Original Dark Rum, Bacardi Rum, and pina colada mix mixed with our orange passion guava blend.
Who ever came up with that drink deserves an extra bonus. :thumbsup2 :lmao:
Sweet, but not overly sweet and addictive! For a while we sat on our deck chairs sipping our drink, relaxing and enjoying this little piece of heaven. After some time the ocean was calling our names again and we went to swim and play for a little while, well, actually quite a while.
When we finally got back to the beach again we dried off and then decided to head over to the barbecue station and have some lunch. Since their salads are really good, I filled my plate with several of them and then chose the grilled Mahi Mahi.

IMG_7014.JPG

Tom got some salads as well, but he went for the grilled beef.

IMG_7016.JPG

We found a table, sat down and enjoyed our lunch and when we went back for dessert we saw Monika and her husband having lunch there as well.

DSC_0551.JPG

We invited them over to our table and after we had picked up dessert, consisting of a chocolate chip cookie and some vanilla and chocolate ice-cream,

IMG_7017.JPG

they came over to chat for a while. They left before we were finished, but since Teresa and her husband Mick were there as well, we still had some nice company.
We had spent more time than usual at the barbecue and when we returned to our chairs, plopped down and just relaxed.

We really enjoyed the food that day. Mick says he can't wait to go back to Serenity Bay and have some great BBQ! Just sad we won't have the same company.

Loving the pictures. The beach is so pretty. I really need to check out Serenity Bay!

The food there is really nice and no lines, just a peaceful place!
We cannot wait to go back either ;) not much longer, 3 days of Serenity Bay Bliss! :thumbsup2
Gonna miss you though!

IMG_7024.jpg

It did not take long until another one of those nice Cast Members came by to offer to bring us another drink.

IMG_7021-1.jpg

I could not help myself and ordered the same “boring, old” drink I always have,

IMG_7028-1.jpg

a Konk Kooler! Myers's Original Dark Rum, Bacardi Rum, and pina colada mix mixed with our orange passion guava blend. Tom wanted to try something new and ordered

IMG_7027-1.jpg

a Rum Rudder, Dark rum, Blackberry and Banana Liquer, Sweet lemon mix and Grenadine. We sat and enjoyed and people watched, even though there weren’t too many people to watch.

IMG_7038.jpg

Once we had finished our drinks we went for another swim and this is when we came up with another fantastic idea.
While floating around I told Tom about an idea I had had during the night. :thumbsup2
Why not add a THIRD cruise for next summer? It would give us ONE more day at Castaway Cay in the end? :cloud9: We talked a while back and forth if we could wing it financially and then we decided to just go for it, book it now with the discount and we could always let go of it if we found out we could not go! So, after some time we went back to the beach, and again relaxed on our deck chairs, still talking about my faboulous idea of another Castaway Cay day!
Then we had the wonderful idea of taking some chairs and pulling them down to the water’s edge and just sitting in the ocean! Time flies when you have so much fun and we did not realize HOW long we had been sitting there, grilling in the sun. Luckily we both had hats that day or we might have been sunstroke as well, as we both were a bit sunburned in the end, even though we did apply lots of sunscreen.
One last dip in the ocean for a while and it was time to pack up things and head back to the ship. We just put on our T-shirts as our swim suits were still a bit wet when we headed towards the tram.

IMG_7046-1.jpg

When we had to change trams we decided to walk through the shops on the island one more time, but didn’t buy anything. We had the choice of walking back to the tram or walking right back to the ship. We decided on walking along the path which goes along the beach, so we could take a few more photos and enjoy the view of the ship docked at Castaway Cay.

IMG_7047.jpg

After a short, relaxing stroll we were back at the ship

IMG_7049.jpg

IMG_7051.jpg

IMG_7054.jpg

and joined the long lines to get back on the ship. But even though the lines looked long it actually only took about 5 minutes and we were back in the airconditioned cool of the Disney Wonder.
This is when you can feel that your swimsuit is still damp! We hurried back to our stateroom, lots of gifts in the Fish extender, which we emptied out before entering.

What a perfectly relaxed day at CC!:cloud9: I loved those Konch Koolers:lovestruc When we were heading back to the ship, they sold us a rum runner at BOGO - buy one, get one free:banana: Of course we couldn't resist that deal!

Your trip is getting so close! Are you B2B2B? or is there a trip in the World in between? I guess I need to catch up on your PTR:goodvibes
