Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

OH!!!! Austrian donuts (what is the official name?) look incredibly yummy! I absolutely LOVE most European pastries - so light, not heavy and soooo good. Bet you thought I visit Europe for the history, scenery and people! ;) :rolleyes1

Christine, they are called "Krapfen". My favourite "Konditorei" (coffee shop) sells them filled with apricot jam, custard (vanilla pudding) or chocolate pudding. All three of them are SO good!!!!!!!! The jam is infused with rum and therefore a favourite to everyone!
They are light and fluffy and melt in your mouth ........ do I need to go on? ;)

And yes, I thought you only visited Europe for our beautiful landscape! :lmao: :rotfl2:

:confused3:confused3:confused3 scams? Did I miss something here?

Anways, great updates Karin! Sounds like a relaxing day!

I didn't understand that post either. :confused3

Thank you for reading! It was a relaxing day - the only thing that didn't get to relax was my credit card! :rotfl2:

The Austrian donuts remind of of "pacski" - I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong. My grandmother always says it like this "poonch-key". They're a Mardi Gras specialty I guess - can be jam or cream filled.

I absolutely love the food you ate in the villa. It really cracks me up that foreign visitors love Doritos and Publix salads! I'm sure you guys in Europe are secretly laughing at me when I'm there eating whatever countries' equivalent though. I haven't made it to Austria yet so I'm not very familiar with your food, other than I seem to think the pastries are supposed to be wonderful?

I'm pretty sure it's a troll or spammer poster. There have been alot lately.

Yep, thats what I thought they looked/sounded like too.

Yoo Hoo  How are you guys doing?

I'm back on the boards and ready to catch up and all caught up here, although gotta catch up on your Food report too :teeth:

I love that the CM's at WPE remembered you guys :teeth:

Seeing those Krispy Kreme doughnuts has made me want some now  and those Austrian ones look yummy too :teeth:

SIX DAYS until, DLPR, Karin! You & Tom must be sooo excited!! :dance3:

I am excited too because I can hardly wait to hear all about your trip and see lots of photos. ::yes::

I googled them and they ARE quite similar! Many of our sweets have their roots in Poland and the Czeck republic. So I guess they come from quite a similar place!

Oh, I love Krispy Kreme but man, I'd give my right arm to try some of the Austrian donuts!!

Sophia, they are so good! ;) They are very light and fluffy and the apricot jam inside usually (or at least where I buy them) has lots of rum in it! :cloud9:

Some of the things on that table is food that reminds us of our first visit to the US :rotfl2:
I just love the convenience of buying ready made salads as I don't do that at home, so it is a special treat and some of those salads are really tasty. As are the different kinds of bread, all very fluffy, which is not very common here.
If you make it to Austria, you will find, that NOT ONLY our pastries are out of this world delicious, so is our food! Austria used to be fairly large a few hundred years back and there are LOTS of different influences.

I was thinking of a spammer too, but then my English is not all that good, so I wasn't too sure!
And you are right those paczki are very similar to our Krapfen.:thumbsup2

Hi Stefy! I hope you are much better - it sucks that you fell ill towards the end of your vacation! :sad2:

Good for you to catch up - I am still behind on some of my trip/dining reports. I have not posted much here, I was a bit to occupied with my dining review, but I promise to update here more often! ;)

Yes, we both were a bit shocked that the CMs at WPE remembered us! But then we had a lot of fun and even got them souvenirs while we were on the cruise! :rotfl2:

Have you started your trip report yet? Or are you keeping you PTR? PLEASE let me know when you start - I don't want to miss a thing!

Hi Christine!
Yes, we are getting more and more excited. Today we checked the clothes we want to take, so in case something needs to be washed I can still do it! I have checked flight times and menu (but they don't update on a regular basis :sad2:)
We're going to wing it this time - the only thing that is for sure is the Halloween Party on the 31st. I did buy tickets and even we get 50% off with our AP I am not going to let them going to waste.
So, watch out for a lot of photos!!
I am going to post a little mini trip report here, MAYBE I can even update from Paris - not sure about the internet yet! :confused3

Day 4, August 17

The quest for water shoes Part 1

We were up earlier that day and since there were lots of leftovers in the fridge we had some of those for breakfast with some quite nice Starbucks coffee and some Krispy Kreme doughnuts to round up the meal.

When we were ready to leave it was late morning again and we decided to continue in our quest to find water shoes. We had looked up all the different Wal-Mart locations and outlet malls and were going to check in hopes we would get lucky to find water shoes for Tom. I had picked up a pair at Kmart the day before. While driving from mall to mall we also hit the Disney outlet mall. They did offer a things we liked and we finally picked up some goodies.

Since we hadn’t been lucky finding shoes we decided to try again lateron in the day and just get back to Walt Disney World.

We wanted to have lunch at the Mara, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and drove there.

After parking the car we walked to the lodge, had a good look around,

enjoyed the sights and sounds and headed over to the Mara. It was packed! After walking through the food court and the seating area we decided to give it a miss and just go somewhere else. When we were driving towards Old Key West we passed the Coronado Springs Resort and at the spur of the moment decided to have a look if we might be able to score a table at the Pepper Market.
Good choice. Pepper Market was half empty and we were led to a table right away. The server brought our drinks and we were off to choose our meals. Tom went to the Grill Station

IMG_5680.jpg

and got the BBQ Ribs - with coleslaw and fries, while I chose to go to the Pasta Station

IMG_5678.jpg

to get the Pappardelle Pasta with Alfredo Sauce and Chicken - with garlic bread. Both dishes were very good and really generous servings. Since we were both full from our main courses we picked our desserts to go.

Tom had a Cheese Danish and

IMG_5682.jpg

I chose a Pecan Roll. And then we were finally on our way back home.

We thought that we might go and check one more shop for water shoes down in Kissimmee. We walked into the shop and they had lots of water shoes and Tom found a pair that fitted him. It did not take long and we arrived back home in our villa for a little rest and relaxation.

Sounds like a productive day of shopping. Sometimes those little stores in Kissimmee have some decent finds.

I love the Mara, but I think it is because I can get zebra domes there. Nice that you had the car so that you could go to resort hopping. We stayed at CSR last year and had a few meals at Pepper Market.

Yes, we really LOVED those two shopping days, we had quite a few good finds and the car came in so handy several times this trip! ;)

We stayed at CSR in February and NEVER made it to Pepper Market! :scared1: So for next February we are hoping for a decent AP discount, so I can upgrade our Pop reservation to CSR! :thumbsup2

Great update Karin !!! I have only eaten at Pepper Market once and it was very good !!!

Thank you Rosie!

We really enjoyed the food there, my pasta was freshly made and there was such a huge variety. Definitely worth a few more visits! ;) :thumbsup2

Another nice update, Karin! ::yes::

When in Feb will you be back at WDW? Another cruise maybe?
(Feb is my kind of month in Florida! ;) )

Thank you, Christine!

I don't know if you follow my dining review, but I posted about our scare of not being able to go to WDW about a week ago. Tom's new boss had decided he was NOT sure we could go ........ and I needed to book my flights! :scared1:
So for a few days we did not know if we were able to go, but then his boss came to his "senses" :rotfl2: and we have the all clear to go.
So we will be at WDW February 19 - 26. We are currently booked at Pop Century and I am hoping for an AP discount, so we can upgrade to a moderate without too much of a financial difference! ;)
Since we only have that one week we won't be able to go on a cruise as much as I would love to! Any chance you would be at WDW then too?

Hiya

It does suck getting sick towards the end, but at least it was not during. Feeling better now, although after I got over the flu I got a stomach bug and have only just gotten over that :(

Will be starting the TR soon and will post on the PTR to let everyone know :)

Love that you got a gift for the WPE CM's, so sweet :cutie:

Great update, yay for getting your water shoes :yay:

Driving in WDW must be so easy and convenient, must get our licences! :teeth:

Gonna go pop over to your dining report and catch up on that bad boy, see you over there

Know you are having fun at DLPR right now, but somehow missed this post and wanted to be sure to catch up. ::yes::

How did I not know of your Dining review?? :confused3 Will definitely find it now. :)

What a scare to think your Feb trip might not have been possible! I would LOVE to go that time of yr and see you and Tom (not a solo disney traveler so would hope to find a friend to come along...for me WDW is not fun alone),:goodvibes but one of my dearest friends is thinking about a visit here almost exactly those dates - Feb 21 - 26. If she does come down, we are going to drive to Savannah for a 3 ngt visit - she usually visits in the summer, but summer is awful in Savannah - if possible, even more hot and humid than Disney.:sunny:

Fingers corrsed for a great AP rate - which moid will you move to? FQ is in the midst of a complete refurb - bathrooms and all - that might be nice.:thumbsup2

Off to check out your dining review! Can't wait to hear all about DLPR. :teeth:
