Valet Parking at Monorail Resorts

I understand it is "unacceptable" to park your car at a monorail resort all day if you are not staying there, but I thought I had read earlier that if you valet (ie. pay for it to sit there), your car it will be fine.

Anyone know the policy on this?

No it's ok and think it's wrong because the valet parking spots are only meant for guests staying at the Monorail Resorts and guests going there for ADR's. Besides you can also be turned away from even entering the Resort if you are not a guest and don't have ADR's, which I have seen happen a lot at the Contemporary. I also have an e-mail from WDW which says valet parking at the Monorail Resorts for theme park access is not allowed.

Here is more proof it's not allowed from a post when this topic has been asked in the past.

DVC members receive a publication called "Vacation Magic" on a quarterly basis from the Disney Vacation Club, a Walt Disney company. In the Spring 2007 issue on page 27 it states: "Park freely (at select Resorts): While valet parking charges at Walt Disney World Resort hotels have changed to $10 a day, remember that Disney Vacation Club Members receive complimentary valet parking at select Resorts, including Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Boardwalk Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge. (Please note, however, that parking for the purposes of visiting a Theme Park isn't permitted at any Walt Disney World Resort hotel.) Beginning July 2, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge will become the latest Disney Vacation Club Resort to offer Members this complimentary service."

Your car will be fine if you park normally as well.

We dont do it that often, but there have been times when staying at the marriot proerties, where we went to Ohanna or Chef Mickey. We wanted to go to the park. So we just went.

We are respectfull, and park out away from hotel guests areas.

Tip : park you car with the windshield area obstructed by a bush or tree. If the parking lot police happen to drive around looking for passes...(which they dont).....they cant see.....and i know they wont get out and walk to look.

We have done this a few times...call it 10....since 1993. never had a car towed, or ticketed or talked too yet.

Thanks, it's what I suspected. We're staying at AKL but plan on breakfast one morning at the CR, so dh thought it would be fine to valet our car (we are paying to park after all).

Why don't you just take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and from there either walk or take the Monorail to the Contemporary? By doing this you don't need to save a valet parking spot all day which could be used for someone elses car, because if the Contemporary is very busy I can tell you they do limit the time your can be valet parked. My personal feeling is if you valet park for a meal that's fine, however once your meal is over you have no business leaving your car parked at any Resort your not a guest at, weather it's in the self parking lot or valet parking lot.

However my feeling is your still going to valet all day, but I think you should consider the other options you have.

Why don't you just take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and from there either walk or take the Monorail to the Contemporary?.

I agree....again....most of our trips, even if we have a car....we take the busses, boats, and mono everywhere.

You honestly dont save that much time driving yourself....

Just seems more convenient, but I didn't think about walking from the CR. That's actually a good idea.

I forgot to mention if you see a sign at the entrance to the Contemporary which says "We do not provide parking for the Magic Kingdom" that would be a clear message that they don't even want you valet parking all day weather or not you had an ADR. So that would mean you would have to move your car to the TTC, which would not happen if you just take the bus from the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

you have never been there with the lot was full. Now with the new CRV (I hope) the parking is a WHOLE lot less.

the CR has tolled cars - especially during their special events- MVMCP, MNSSHP, etc.

I have been there during nights when MVMCP has been going on and here is what I have noticed. If you are trying to park there during that time and are not a guest or don't have an ADR, they will automatically turn you away at the gate from parking. If you try driving there close to the fireworks, once you past the lights where you can either turn right to the Wilderness Lodge or left to the Polynesian, there are Cast Member security guards standing on the road checking every car which drives by. Obviously in my familes case we were allowed to drive since we had our Contemporary parking pass displayed, however I have seen other cars told to turn around. So they did not even make it up to the Contemporary entrance.

So you are advocating breaking the rules and taking spots from resort guests and visitors? Those spots, no matter where they are in the lot, are for that resort's guests and visitors ONLY. Once you leave the resort you are visiting you are no longer a visitor there and not allowed to park there. Leaving your car parked there while not at the resort takes that spot from guests and visitors of that resort that may need it. I have heard of cars being towed from resorts before.

okay some guests are sneak - they come in the morning or afternoon - before Disney starts the security guards all over the place.

Well on the nights during MVMCP and the Pirate & Princess Party I noticed during the afternoon's before WDW security would be on the roads, the Contemporary was turning away guests who were either not staying there or had no ADR's.

If you need to park at a monorail hotel, great...JUST PAY THE RATE FOR THE HOTEL & STAY THERE!
Not sure why people just don't do the right thing. You know it is wrong so don't do it.

That's a very good question. Of course the OP is allowed to valet park during their ADR at Chef Mickey's, just like all other non Contemporary guests who go there with ADR's. However I will say again once your meal is over you no longer have any business leaving your car in the valet parking lot, no matter how you try and give reasons making it ok.

You are paying valet for dining only. It is NOT for the MK.

The reason I asked the question about VALET is because I did not know the answer, hence, the purpose of a Vacation Planning Board.

I disagree. Disney is set up to have take your money everywhere you go. Hence allowing vsitors to go to resorts for dinner and such.

Again...we have only done it if we were doing dinner or breakfast. i know the results if i get "caught".

But answering the OP's question....you wont get get. In fact, just last thanksgiving...one of the busiest weeks of the year, we had a 7:30am at chef mickey for 12 people...in 2 cars. we both drove up to the gate...gave him my id information and ADR....he told us to park. We had breakfast....and walked to MK. Wwe didnt come back for our car untill at least 4:00pm.

The signs, the emails, will discourage the casual park guest from clogging up the lats...but like anything...if you know what you are doing....you can do a lot more than is "written".

Again...i know i can be towed....but i also know i wont be. And havent 10 times at least.

Well then shame on you.
One easy rule......if the word "caught" is in it, probably not the right thing to do.

They do not put a limit on how long you valet. Only place you will ever see that said is on the dis.
