Does anyone know how bad the 'B' unit is? We are booked there through an RCI exchange. They claim no other availability at this time. What are our chances to getting upgraded to an 'A' unit or even maybe a complete lock off with both sides (I know that's unlikely)?

We have only stayed on the A side, but looking at the schematics the B side is about half the size of A. It would not be a good situation if you had to stay in the B side with a family of 4. If it was just a couple, I would say it would be enough space. Having only a partial kitchen with a microwave may be a drawback too. Getting an A really depends on the time of year you are going and how early you book. I've seen many weeks in the "offseason" that have the whole lock off available. The closer you are to going the less likely you will find A's. We have Christmas week booked and I have only seen either a or b separately.

We just booked for June 24th and they said they only had 'B's. I was looking on tripadvisor though, and almost anyone who asked seemed to have been upgraded. I thought June was not the busiest time down there.

You can fit the entire B unit into the livingroom area of the A unit in my opinion. While it is nice and bigger than a reg hotel room.. you do have 2 seperate rooms, it is no comparision to the A side. Last year we stayed a week & had both sides.. I loved that !!!!!! :cool1:

Do you think it would do any good to call in advance and ask or should we wait until we get there and make puppy eyes at the front desk? I'm not above slipping them a $20 if that would work.

I'd call the resort now and see if they have your information already. Ask them about upgrade possibilities. The B unit is OK, but the A unit is great. The B unit has a queen bed (not king), standard size bathroom (no whirlpool) with washer/dryer and small living room with partial kitchen.

The first time we went there, we booked rather last minute. The RCI guy told me we had the A unit with full kitchen and jacuzzi. I never got the confirmation paper. When we got to the resort, we had a B unit. After much discussion, Parkway let me upgrade to the A unit for $50. RCI then gave me a credit for the $50.

I wouldn't stay in the B unit though. It's too small and has too much furniture crammed in there.

How many people in your party? We stayed there this past October thru Skyauction and had both an A and B Unit. Of course, the A side is preferable if you can get it. The B side had a full size bed in the bedroom, smaller kitchen with convection microwave (instead of a full size stove/oven), full size (??maybe queen) sofa sleeper, small balcony and bathroom. It was a little tight, but manageable (for a party of 4) if you have no other options. We were originally supposed to have the A unit for 1 week and the B unit for the second week but they gave us both units for both weeks. Good luck!

I don't have the RCI confirmaion yet because it is MIL's timeshare. She's coming down to visit for memorial day and I should have it then. This was the only thing available for the week we could go and I just needed someplace-anyplace. MIL traded a 2 bedroom at Vistana for this. I guess we can put a child on the floor with a sleeping bag, if the accomodations are that tight. Or DH can sleep in the tub.

the floor is tile in the livingroom - have you got an air mattress?

I guess we'll just have to get one.

I really hope we can upgrade. This will suck royally, if we can't.

it looks the only problem is the queen bed vs king bed.

I think both sleeper sofa are queens.

just throw the cushions from the sofa on the floor and have him use his sleeping bag on top.

remember to bring him a pillow - unless his sleeping bag has one.

Sounds like a plan. Kids like to sleep on the floor anyway.

Just got the RCI confirmation in the mail. I don't see where it says we cannot upgrade. It looks like a gift certificate. I'll have DH call and try to upgrade.

I finally got around to calling the place. The woman on the phone said they couldn't do anything until we got there and they maybe able to upgrade us at checkin, depending on availability. I wonder if I should try calling again in hopes of getting someone else. That always seems to work with Disney.;)
