Ran into something I'd never seen before today, tried to book a reservation that crossed use years today (Nov 27 - Dec 2) and it won't let me do it online. Says I have to call member services to book a reservation using 2 use years? Not sure why this should be an issue, anyone have experience with this before?
 
That is actually the usual response. One cannot make a single reservation that crosses use years using the online system. You need to contact MS. The options are to either: (a) call to make the entire reservation, or (b) make two separate reservations for the same room category, one for the beginning of the trip in the first use year and then one for the portion of the trip in the next use year, and then call and have them merged into one.
 
I’ve run into this the couple of times I’ve booked across my use year. I too have a Dec. use year thus when I’m crossing use years I’m trying to book in the very popular early Dec. time frame & am booking right at 11 months, so I can’t book the Dec. days as a separate booking & later merge them because the 11 month window isn’t open for them yet.
My solution is to book my Nov. days online right at 11 months which basically blocks anyone else from getting the villa I want, wait an hour until the phone lines open & then call & have MS add my additional Dec. days. I also call a couple of days later to add days when I’m doing a 10 or 11 night booking.
I’d prefer to book online - but w/ those stays that cross use years that you are trying to book right at 11 months you can’t.
