Using Mypoints for Disney Gift Cards

I don't see that it could be an issue. You are buying something with the card. It isn't like you are asking for money back. I am trying my Walgreens out today and will report back

In theory you are correct but Disney isn't seeing that if you buy a gift card you are guaranteeing your money to go to something Disney. Tricia over at Sunshine has been trying to get this through to them for years now it seems. They just won't budge.

OK, so I went to Walgreens and yes, I got my walgreens card money put on a Disney card.

What I was told by the Manager at my Walgreens was not that they wouldn't allow you to use a Walgreen's GC to purchase a Disney GC, but that the computer might not accept it. The Manager basically said that we wouldn't know until we tried. I really don't want to get stuck with all my points being on a Walgreen's card.

I ordered my $50 Walgreens gift card on May 29th and received it yesterday. I went to Walgreens today and used it to buy a Disney gift card. The cashier scanned it with no problem. She didn't say anything about using a gift card to buy another gift card.

Okay...I guess I'll make the plunge, too. I've been stalling because I really didn't want to get stuck with a Walgreens gift card. I can think of way more exciting ways to use my points. I will definitely post back and let everyone know how it pans out. I probably won't get to ordering till the end of the week.

If it doesn't work, you could always buy stuff you would at other places, like laundry detergent, shampoo, whatever. Then take the cash you would have paid to the grocery store or other drugstore, and buy the disney gc.

That's what I used to do b/f Walgreens had them I'd get a Walmart or Walgreens or CVS Card. Then take $xx from my grocery envelope to buy a disney gc.

I had 3 - $50 Walgreens Gift Cards that I had cashed in from My Points. I just went yesterday and bought a $150 Disney Gift Card and used my 3 Walgreens Gift Cards. No problems at all. I have $250 in Disney Gift Cards now from doing this. Hoping to get at least $150 more by the time we go next March.

Is this new? I thought Disney had a policy to not give cash back on gift cards. Has this changed?

according to the ebates exclusion list:

Disney Store: Cash back is not available on DisneyWorld park passes.

That's all that is listed, and there are other stores that specifically exclude gift cards.

Update...I received my Walgreens GC today (it took 2 weeks) and just used it to purchase a Disney GC at Walgreens. The cashier seemed confused and had to call for help, but it worked no problem.

If I decide to do it again, do I have to buy another Disney GC or can I just add to the balance of the existing card?

Well, even if they don't...you can always add real cash to your $10 or $15 Walgreen's GC and purchase a $25 one.

The Disney Gift Cards at my Walgreens are ones that you determine how much you want to put on them. So, you can put however much $ you want on it. Not sure if there is a minimum or not though.

I am so happy I had found this link because I get rewards points through my bank account whenever I use my debit card like a credit card and gift cards are things I can qualify for. So I looked it up and Walgreens is one of the cards I can get so I sent away for a $50 one and it arrived today, I went to the Walgreens down the street and sure enough I walked out of there with a $50 Disney gift card . So excited as I am broke right now and need to scrap together as much as possible. I am very close to a 2nd $50 gift card and hopefully I'll be able to get that before I leave!
