I was just wondering if anyone knows what the size of the tent area. I just curious as to what size tent I can fix.

If you look up Fort Wilderness Princess, you’ll find maps of the 1500 loop & 2000 loop. Those two are your tent loops. The preferred one is the 1500 loop. That one keeps you in the middle of the resort and close to the meadows store, pools, and sing a long. The 2000 is out in the boondocks and I do not recommend. Although, I do believe that loop has larger pads. From the Wilderness Princess website, you’ll find measurements, pictures, and details about each spot.

If I were to tent camp, I’d shoot for 1500 loop in the back by the canal, away from bus stop. If you like beeping noises and exhaust, shoot for one by the bus stop. Me, I prefer in the back as far away as I can possibly be while still staying in the 1500 loop. No not recommended 2000 loop. It’s just weird.

Here is 1510 (I think).

There's room for several tents. Some people camp with small travel trailers. And, I don't mind the 2000 loop. It's quiet.

Wilderness Princess has pictures of all the sites.

This varies depending on the type of site you booked. The Tent, Full and Preferred sites have a coquina/sand/rock pad. I don't recall the exact dimensions, but it will accommodate a pretty big tent. The other option is to set up in the grass next to or behind the paved pad. This varies quite a bit depending on the site. Premium and Premium Meadows sites do not have a designated tent pad.

There is no standard size of gravel tent pads for the Full, Preferred, or Tent/Popup loops. As @Teamubr said just above, Premium and Premium Meadow don't have a gravel tent pad and aren't really intended for tents (although you can always put a free-standing tent on the concrete or try to find a spot among the adjacent bushes and trees).

Regardless, I recommend people call the reservation line and ask the CM to add a note to your reservation and give them the size of your tent. Say, "I have a 10x14 tent on this stay". The reservation system automatically pre-assigns campsites to arriving reservations based on what should be available that morning.

But since there are no standard sizes, you might have been automatically assigned a rather small tent pad site (there are a few that are cramped/tight). When notes are added to a reservation, a CM in the FW back office checks the notes before each day's arrivals to try to spread pixie dust and satisfy as many requests as possible. So they will check your pre-assigned site before you arrive and see if your tent will fit (they have those detailed measurements for each site. If a swap is needed, they will do it and no one will ever know it happened).

I add a note on every Fort reservation usually asking for a specific loop based on my site category that I booked. Tent/Popup=1500, Preferred=100, Premium=400. And the success rate is pretty high.

So add the note to your reservation and when you check-in, verify with the CM but it usually works out.

I don't suggest setting up a tent outside of the pad. It could be a disaster if there's a downpour.
