Using a Disney Rewards Card in a Park

Not sure where to post this. I have a Disney Rewards card, and would like to use it to pay for a dinner or merchandise in the park. It's just a "simple" card with the account number on the back. I log into my account to find the balance (I had transferred money from Chase Visa Rewards onto the card). So, do I just hand that to the waiter or slide it through the card machine? Thanks for your help. :flower1:

FYI. When paying at a snack stand or gift shop… let them know you’re using the Rewards card because they have to press a different button than a credit card or gift card. If they don’t realize you’re using it, it won’t work when you skim it.

I've been using my visa rewards card for years in the park, just remember there's a couple places that dont accept them. So make sure you check that list as well. Most places do but I remember I was surprised at Yak n Yeti that I couldn't use it. Have fun!

I've never had any issue using it at a Disney restaurant or in a park. I have not been able to use it at non Disney restaurants.
Lok at your schedule to see where you can and cannot use it.

That's been the only issue I've had using the card on WDW property, I didn't know to do this.
I learned this on my last trip :). (A CM at the Coronado explained it to me why I had been having trouble.)

Another option if you are staying onsite is to charge back to your room and then apply the whole balance to your bill. That’s usually what we do…no need to carry extra cards around and track balances as used.

We've done this then got a bill from the resort after we returned home. Lesson: after your balance is paid down with the rewards card, make sure the resort reinstates/activates/has your regular card back on the reservation - it wasn't automatic for us as we had assumed it would be. This was 10 years ago, so maybe they've fixed this, but we have always gone to GS after using our rewards card to ensure that the regular card is back on the resort account.

I can second this. We just got back and it’s best to show them the card before inserting it because they need to hit a certain button. FYI We got discounts at the shops in galaxy‘a edge.
