is there a better use year (month) to get?

when picking a use year what factors should I consider?

thanks

Use year is the month you receive your annual allotment of points . It determines banking deadlines and really only matters if you have to cancel a vacation late in your use year.

The "best" use year depends on your own personal vacation habits. Keep in mind that your vacation habits are likely to change over the course of your membership.

As an example, let's say that you have an August use year and usually vacation in June and November.

August use years run from August 1 through the following July 31. (Your 2003 use year would be 8/1/2003 - 7/31/2004. Your 2004 use yar would be 2/1/2004 - 7/31/2005 and so on).

For an August use year, your banking deadlines are:

end of following January -up to 100% of your annual allotment
end of following April - up to 50% of your annual allotment
end of following May - up to 25% of your annual allotment
No banking permitted in June or July

If you have to cancel the November vacation - no problem. You have until the following July 31 to use the points or you have until the following January 31 to bank them.

If you have to cancel the June vacation, you might have a problem if you could not reschedule your vacation before the end of July. You would only be able to bank a portion of the points used to book the June vacation. (The actual number would depend on the amount alredy banked for that use year and the date you called MS to bank them).

HTH. Ask again if you need more info/clarification.
