I had a non hopper pass ticket good for 5 days. On the sixth day I thought what the heck I will see if it would work again. I thought if it doesn't work just buy another day and add it to my pass. So I went up to the gate and slid my ticket in and guess what it worked. How is this possible and what is with the finger print thing? Is there a glich in the system? the extra day only costs about what $4? But still I got in for free. I felt bad about it but maybe when I bought the 5 day pass maybe it was a 6 day pass? Oh well I got an extra day in Disney.

If you got your pass through UT, it's quite possible they sent you a 6 day pass - they often have deals where the 5 day pass actually comes with an extra day. If not, well...I guess you got over on Disney to the tune of $5....

You just randomly thought you'd try it again? Weird. I have never ever thought "hey, I think I'll see if I can ge t another day even though I didn't pay for it."

Good for you, it looks like from you signature that you have given Disney a few dollars in the past, good that you got a little Pixie Dust :banana:

In my mind I like to see if these computers are up to the task. The finger printing thing I think is a scare tactic, how would disney keep a database to copy your finger print to match your ticket pass? Seriously I think it is like one of those security cameras that are there for decoration and don't work.

I can tell you that even a smaller park like King's Dominion if you buy a season pass they take your picture and when you scan your ticket your picture pops up on cms machine and if you buy a ultimate pass it is good for all cedar point business owned parks for the year and your picture will show up at every park.
I think finger scan is real..... just my opinion:upsidedow

It's really not all that complicated to capture, digitize and hash a fingerprint. The amount of space it takes to store that information in a database is minuscule as is the amount of time required to query the database when you scan your ticket. Each ticket has a unique identification so establishing the database relationship is very easy.

The scanners take biometric measurements- 2 measurements I think. They aren't particularly accurate as dh and I can pass on each others ticket. Not just the mornings when the scanners aren't on, but when we've had to use our fingers. As often as we've gone and as chaotic as it is getting us all through the turnstiles its happened a good bit that we had the wrong ticket (AP). It happened so much that we did try it on purpose once out of curiosity and it let us pass on each others. Our fingers don't appear to be similar in size so who knows.

A few years ago, I had an instance where I had a hopper pass with all the bells and whistles that was a no expire. My mother had a ticket that was going to expire. We had a day that we did not go to the parks but that night I wanted to go to MK to photograph the fireworks. So that I did not waste a day on my no expire, I took her pass. When I got to the gate I put the pass through and scaned my finger. It didn't work. I was denied. I told the guy that I grabbed the wrong ticket off the dresser which was entirely true. As I turned to leave he called me back and let me through. The scanner worked that night.

I have been waiting years to find a thread that I could tell this story in and this may be as close as I get.

Oh, they finger scanners definitely work. They just don't always have them activated. And it is quite easy to keep the database - they are only keeping a numerical value that is something like 4 digits long. They aren't even trying to do a whole fingerprint match.

Tickets purchased in a single transaction are often (not always) linked together and can be used interchangeably.

And you may be thinking of a "geometry" biometric scanner that measures things like bone width, etc. but these do actually look at a small portion of the fingerprint.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #14, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Congrats, if you only had a 5 day ticket you committed a crime in the state of Florida! Way to be proud of criminal activity! Here is an excerpt from the Florida criminal code for you:

812.014Theft.
—
(1)A person commits theft if he or she knowingly obtains or uses, or endeavors to obtain or to use, the property of another with intent to, either temporarily or permanently:

(a)Deprive the other person of a right to the property or a benefit from the property.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:You're joking, right?

OP, I think you may have gotten a bit of Disney magic. :goodvibes

Or your ticket was actually a six day and you thought it was a five. :laughing:

Nice work there, Columbo! :sad2:

Insult me all you like as it does not change the facts. The OP knowingly and willingly undertook an action with the intent to receive services/benefits without paying for them. You know that slippery slope people always talk about when the whole reusable mug type debate comes up? Well here is an actual crime committed-no slippery slope argument needed. And BTW it is Dr. Columbo, thank you very much.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:You're joking, right?

Why? Because the OP is a criminal? OR because people on here are condoning criminal activity? It's one thing to argue that using mugs from trips past is okay, but I do not get how anyone thinks what the OP did was ok. It does not matter if their ticket was a 6 day or not. The OP stated that their intent was to knowingly and intentionally gain access to the park without paying.

WOW, where to start? First, what crime was committed? My guess is the '5 day' ticket WAS actually a 6 day ticket. In fact, selling on UT's site right now is 'MYW (5 day) plus extra day free'. So, pay for 5 days, get a sixth free. If that falls into your definition of 'gaining access to the park without paying', I guess you're right.:confused3

I'm fairly sure if OP had only 5 days on the ticket, WDW wouldn't have let him enter a park on the 6th day.

OP simply tried (for no particular reason I can fathom) to see if his ticket still worked. What's wrong with that? Some people take their tix to Guest Relations to see what's left, he tried to go through the turnstile.
