Can you trade in an unused $80 pass and apply the $$ to an annual pass -- power or premium?

You can upgrade to the Power or Preferred annual pass but not the Premier. You just pay the difference between the ticket price and the price of the AP.

Do you know why they might exclude the premier. You would think they would want the $$!

The premier has many, many perks such as express and HHN ticket and free water and valet parking. You get more than you money's worth for the price. It is always full price. It is not a pass that the casual visitor needs or wants. The preferred is a great pass for the money and is what most non-locals would get. It still has all the discounts on food and merchandise and also includes free parking.

Think of it in terms of cars. The premier is the Rolls Royce. They seldom have clearance sales on Roll Royces. You pay the premium price but get the premium benefits. Both Power Passes and Preferred Passes have special deals during the year and are excellent buys. The Premier is limited on how many are available for sell so there is no reason to offer specials or upgrades. Most people who buy the Premier are locals who come to the park on a weekly basis.

I really don't consider it a perk for someone to have the ability to upgrade (and pay extra) before even using the pass. It really would be applying the $80 to the $280. Friends of ours already bought the passes and I suggested they see if they could upgrade.

We aren't locals but are planning four trips in the coming 12 months and I am buying the premier for its perks. I know they are great (FOTL after 4, HHN, and valet). We were originally going to stay onsite in July but then decided to apply the extra dollars to the pass since we will be going a number of times. So we get the biggest onsite perk (FOTL - albeit after 4) and get to go a number of times.

The premier pass is usally not upgradable but in some cases they will let you especially if you let them know you won't be able to use the other pass or changed your mind on what you wanted. I'm glad they are letting you upgrade.
