Upgradable Magic Bands

Seriously the amount of times I told myself I'm done checking the bands is a lot... and yet here I am checking again. The ones we wanted are there now, but when I choose them I get an error. What a fun game for me!

This is frustrating. May be worth paying full price for an upgraded band to not have to deal with this.

I am curious though, if you buy one full price, do you still get your name etched or printed onto it? I'm thinking not, but I could be wrong.

Ha ha, I have the same feeling If only Disney could add some ding ding and whistle sounds to their site, would make it even funner. Kind of like Tower of Terror, never quite sure if you're going up or down, or how often. The only thing you can count on is you won't be able to check out! (or wait, is that Hotel California?)

From what I've heard, no. The only way to get the bands with a person's name on them is through the MDE ordering. if you purchase them through Shop Disney they will not be linked to the MDE account, you would do that manually and they will not have the name on them.

Yup came up sometime in the last like 5 hours and already down again with errors. This is hilarious my wife is just laughing at me with these.

I have 4 days left to order and can't get a single one

Yet people whose trips are 6 months in the future have gotten them. They really need to have a set window for ordering so those of us traveling in the next few weeks don’t miss out.

If I get that close to the date where my Magic Bands lock in I will likely just call in and ask nicely if I can get a coupon for ShopDisney for at least 2 out of the 6 people in our party.

Completely agree though that premium bands should only unlock maybe from day 30 to 60 or even day 30 to 45.

Well, today is the last day I can order. I somehow got 2 and paid for them and now plain ones are showing on my page

Update: I went to MDE and hit the chat button. I spoke with a CM and explained that today was my last day to order upgraded bands and that I was able to get my daughter the mickey bday one and my son the sorcerer one. I explained that I got on at 6:55am and paid for them and got a conformation showing I paid. When I checked my MDE it was showing plain bands. She assured me that if I paid then those should be the ones coming. She sent a message over to IT and now the magic bands are reflected on my account. I am excited I got these two but sad because I wanted to order ones for me and my husband. I made a choice to check out while I could still get those two. I figured I might be able to go back in later and see if I could get the two of us bands. My account no longer has the edit button for magic bands so I think I am out of luck?

I sincerely hope they fixed it for you. Last Wednesday I ordered upgraded bands and checked out, recieved a confirmation email and they shipped to me and arrived yestereday ALL GREY!!! I called to fix the issue and because the glitch caused the change not to charge me, all they could do was reset the option to order more. Now they no longer have the ones we originally ordered and yesterday’s options weren’t great! I plan to keep checking back periodically because there were different options when I checked at 4pm and again at 8pm. Best of luck, it’s good that you noticed them turn all grey before having to deal with opening boxes of all grey bands! Shock and disappointment were all I can describe feeling at that moment...

I can't imagine trying to get 4. I have been trying to get 2 and I am having issues. It will have 3 of my mom choices but not the one of mine. I finally relented and decided on a backup but my mom choices were gone. Now they are all sold out. I know my trip is the first week of September and they are left at the resort, I don't want a plain band anymore. Not after you said I could upgrade. I am like a kid don't offer me something and take it back lol So even if they screw up I won't know until I get there.

I feel the same way, don't offer it and then i can't get it! I have become obsessed. I check the site multiple times of day, it has become quite the game.

We were in the same boat with running out of time to order after tons of checking. Long story short, we ordered the plain color ones then apparently the upgraded ones were restocked. After a lot of time on the phone with various numbers and talking to several “supervisors”, they said upon check-in at the resort we will receive a gift card ($15 per person) to purchase them there.

Unfortunately you are out of luck with being able to get anymore bands. Once you purchase any premium bands then you lose the option to gain anymore. I made the same choice with my family. The one my DS wanted was available and I made the purchase for him. My husband and I will have plain colored bands.

Ours starts Aug 1 as well. I don’t understand how anyone is actually ordering. I’ve sunk at least 4 hrs into attempting to order in the last few weeks.

Why in the world are they allowing those with months left to order when those with days left can’t? The furthest I’ve made it is to the purchase screen and it’s errored out over and over again.

The number Disney displays on MDE saying you have XX number of days left, is only for guaranteed delivery by mail. I think you can actually order them up until like 5 or 6 days before arrival date and they will be waiting for you at the front desk of your hotel when you check in. You can call Disney to confirm. I think my order date was 6/7. I ended up ordering on 6/21 and I got them in the mail on 6/26. Our check in date is mid-July. Once the number count down goes away from your screen, it will still allow you to customize, up until the actual and final cut off date which is much closer to your check in date.

I'm thinking it is. Our check in date is 7/10 and it's still letting my "try" to get premium ones. I also read this in another thread, what sgtdisney said, about going up to 5 or 6 days. If I remember correctly, you have up to something like 11 days prior to still order and get in the mail, and then like 5 or 6 to have delivered to the resort, after that, only grey at resort will be available.

Has anyone gotten anything other than an error lately? Every so often the list of bands changes for me. Sometimes I can actually select 4 before it errors, others I can’t even complete selection. Earlier today I made it all the way to the end of the payment screen only to get an error. Like are they serious with this? It’s 2019 not 2009

Was able to order 4 today after trying numerous times.
