(UPDT: 2/21) Losing The Glass Slippers to RUN like a Princess! Serial-PTRer report!

Just joining in! What an inspiration you are!

ME? Inspiration! That's very sweet of you, I don't think I have ever considered myself an inspiration. Welcome!!! :goodvibes

I want to join! I'm planning on doing one of the Disney 1/2s, too! I'm thinking Wine & Dine 2013, but it's 80% full and I'm not willing to make the commitment just yet. I gotta get on that!

Welcome!! Ooooh, you should totally train for the Princess, then we can have a meetup! :thumbsup2 I'm going to have so many meetups, I won't have time for the actual race or the rest of the trip. :lmao:

Life Update! Since there is nothing goin on with the trip planning right now, except for counting down the extremely long countdown (291 days today!), I thought I would do a little life update!

I've been blogging a lot, so if you are interested in following more about my running journey, be sure to check it out!

Losing The Glass Slippers

Yesterday, I got to go to my favorite event in my little town. It's an annual event called Sip-n-Savor, where local wineries from Missouri come to town! For $20 you get a wine glass and all the wine and beer tasting you can imagine! We've gone every year, this year our girlfriends couldn't come, but Hope (my BFF) and I bundled up and walked up to Main Street! It was chilly for May, but we warmed up.

This is Main Street in my little town, each shop would have a different winery inside. They also had a shuttle to take us to one of the wineries in town and another few businesses that were not in walking distance.

The beer tent was fun as well, Hope took my picture after one of the guys serving the beer tastings just GAVE me a whole beer! I didn't ask or anything...Hope thought I was flirting and that's why I got it! :lmao:

We had a blast, although I'm still recovering today. Tastings don't allow you to know how much you are actually having and I have quite a hangover!

Yep...beer in the wine glasses! ;)

Now I have to get myself fully recovered b/c I need to get back to training. I did run 5.37 miles yesterday morning before all the wine, but I'm pretty sure I undid any good I did to my body with all that alcohol! Not exactly something you can do often when training.

As for Disney, I'm just counting down the days until my 10K on June 8th...which will give me my chip time to submit when I register for the Princess on June 11th! :cool1:

I'm hoping they open up resort packages by then? I guess I could book room only, but why? I would just have to call back up and change everything anyway.

That Wine event sounds like so much fun. One of my favorite vacations we happened across a Wine Festival and it was awesome. We did something similar where we bought the glass of wine and had all the samples.

The Sip N Savor event looks like so much fun. We have an event like that close by at the Louisville Zoo. It's called Brew at the Zoo and Wine Too! You get a 5 oz. beer tasting mug and all the samples of beer and wine you can get. They also have a variety of restaurants sampling food as well AND entertainment. It's held at the zoo up on a hill away from most of the animals where they have a huge ampitheater and they set up 3 HUGE outdoor tents. It's a BLAST...but tickets sell out about a month in advance. I will come back and add some pics once I am at home.

It's been a while, huh? It took longer than I expected to recover from that hangover, that's all! :lmao:

Nah, I just haven't had a lot of Disney planning going on. The date is approaching where things will start to get a bit more exciting! That date would be June 11th! On June 11th registration opens for the Princess Half Marathon, and I will be officially registered! Then I will be able to find out what kind of runDisney discounts/packages there are and hopefully be able to book the trip as well! :woohoo:

So, for now I'm just training like crazy, with my 10K coming up on June 8th. Hopefully I'll have a nice time to submit when I register. :goodvibes

As some of you know, Rey has been home for 11 months after rupturing a couple discs in his back. He's finally headed back to work, but it's all red tape/waiting right now, we think he'll be back to work by next Tuesday. I'm trying to enjoy my last bits of time with him, but I'm not very good at enjoying the moment when I know it's all going to get stolen from me and we'll be going back to never seeing each other. :sad2:

I did it for 16 years, so I'm sure I will adjust again, but it's hard after having him home for so long to let him go again.

That's about it, Hmmm...I could pull an ANN and not post any photos in my post. I could! But I won't...that would be insanity. We must have photos. Must! How about some pictures of me and my love. 23 years together this past April! Lordy, I'm old. :scared:

June 11th! Woot! Woot!!! So exciting! Then it will be official- no turning back!

Sorry about Rey heading back. That is a hard adjustment, I'm sure. I bet we see some serious running PB while you fight off the dissapoinment of Rey being gone!

Just wanted to say a quick hello as I recently came across one of your trip reports and completely got wrapped into your adventures (and beautiful photography!). I too am a runner although I suffered a torn ACL and replacement surgery a few years back. I'm still not completely healed and don't know if my running will ever be the same...but I'm working towards it!

Coincidently, I am also a photographer and travel enthusiast (especially when it comes to WDW - of course!). I look forward to following along with you on your endeavor to run the Princess 1/2! Maybe someday I will be right there with you!

Thanks Nicole. It's hard right now but the running is helping! :thumbsup2

WELCOME!!! Fellow photographer, runner, AND Disney lover?!! What could be better?!! :goodvibes I hope you can recover and get back to where you want to be. I live in fear of an injury ALL THE TIME. Thanks for joining, my PTR has been pretty quiet lately b/c there's not much Disney planning going on until Tuesday when I register for the PHM!

Hello people that might actually be reading still! ;)

I know I haven't done much updating, but that happens when you are still 259 days out from a trip and start planning so soon! :lmao:

There are big things coming though, so have no fear! This Saturday, June 8th, I will be running my first 10K! I want to have a time to submit when I register for the Princess Half on next Tuesday. I'm super excited about the race, I have trained well for it and know I can do it...but have nerves anyway just b/c it's a race and also the logistics of having to drive an hour and a half to the race at 5:30 in the morning!

I will be sure to come back late Saturday or Sunday and have an update with pics! My mom is meeting us at the race because she lives in St. Louis where it's located, so I'm going to have her take some pictures...if she can work my camera. Hmmm...Savannah is coming, so I think I'll have her do it, I'm afraid my mom will struggle with my camera!

Tuesday the 11th will be official registration for the race, I'm excited and the money is sitting in my savings, waiting to go to Disney! ;)

It's against my personal rules to post without a pic, so here's one I worked up last week from a picture Rey took of me in my last 5K.

I'm still following along. I had not really been updating my own PTR....life just gets the best of you sometimes. Anyway...I'm back and glad to see you posting again as well. I love the pic of you running and the quote to go with. It's very inspirational.

I love the pics of you and Rey also. The 2 of you together remind me of Wayne and I a bit...kinda silly, serious when necessary and always smiling together! :flower3:

I did it! I finished my first 10K and I have an official time to submit to Disney for the Princess Half! :cool1:

I have the whole recap on my blog, so I'm going to link that here and then share a couple pics here as well if you don't feel like reading the BOOK I wrote up about this race! ;) Here's the whole recap:

Heart to Heart 10K recap with photos on my blog

A few shots to share here:
My mommy came to watch me race! That made me really happy.

I even got a picture with my three, which is RARE, trust me on this!

After the race we hit up Starbucks, naturally. It was a fantastic day!

There are more details and pics in the blog link above if you are interested.

Soooo, that means that Tuesday when registration opens, I have my time to submit for corral placement! I ran the 10K in 1:08:11, which will help ensure that I'm not at the back of 26,000 people! It won't put me at the front either, but I don't have any desire to be there either.

After registration I have to work on the plans for actually making this trip happen. We are pretty concerned about money for 6 people, my last 2 trips were just 2 people and SO much cheaper that way. I'm starting to get nervous about the cost and I know Rey is as well, but more on that later! :scared:

For now I'm riding my runners-high and excited to register on Tuesday and make it official! princess:

Congrats on completing the 10K and having a time to submit when registering for the Princess! :cheer2: Looks like all your hard work has paid off. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your run!! It sounds like you had an awesome day!!

Thanks! It was a fantastic day, I'm still on a runners high today! :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm really excited about having a time to submit and feeling pretty proud of myself today for working towards a goal and then achieving it! :goodvibes

popcorn:: Following along! Definitely a dream of mine to do a race at Disney. I did a half marathon here in Indianapolis a couple years ago but have since slacked on the running front. Really need to get back into it.

Congrats on finishing your 10k, very respectable time! :thumbsup2

Awesome time on the 10K! Good job Karen!

And tomorrow is REGISTRATION!!! EXCITING!!!! :) Woo Hoo!!
