"updated" menus?

I just read a review that mentioned Tony's menu had been "updated," presumably for free dining, and that some menu items were no longer available. Anybody have any more information on restaurants that have "updated" their menus recently?

"Updated" is a relative term, of course, and Disney menus are changing constantly. Check out our menu "sticky". Most of the menus are pretty recent.

We just ate at Tony's on Sunday - the menu was the same except for dessert, it was a sampler plate with Cannoli, Tiramisu, and Amaretto Cheesecake. I think the appetizers also had garlic bread sticks too. I actually liked the dessert sampler because you got to taste a bit of all three instead of just choosing one.

We just ate at LeCellier on Saturday 8/19 and the CM said effective 8/20 the menu was changing. She did not tell us what was new or deleted. She did say the favorites were staying like the mushroom filet and cheese soup. So guess some folks might be surprised, but hopefully the changes are good, not bad. However, I would like to see the menu at coral reef change, as I did not enjoy the selections there this past May when we were there.

Anybody been to LeCellier in the last few days?

We dined at Le Chefs de France and the menu had been changed. The filet was gone, replaced by flank steak, and the duck was gone too. They put a burger on and pork chops, but I don't remember what else. The dessets had changed too. The creme brule' wasn't. it was just really watery custard with some cinnamon on top. It was a real dissapointment as we made a special trip to Epcot that night to dine there since we loved it last year.

Wow. That flank steak really surprises me. I don't think burger when I think Chefs, either. What did you have, and was it any good?

When was the last time you went? I booked this restraunt for the duck! I will be so dissapointed if it's not there any longer. Do they sometimes bring stuff back? I mean burgers and watery custard really isn't what I had in mind for french dining.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! We were there on 8/21 and it appears the menu changes were new. I wanted the duck myself, and my son had planned on the sole. We (me, DH, DS11, and DD8) had the cheese plate, salmon tartare, onion soup, and kids appetizer (a croissant dough triangle filled and topped with cheese). These were all good, though I think I enjoyed the tate I had last year better than the salmon. For entrees we had the lamb shank, flank steak, chicken, and kids burgers. The lamb was pretty good, but I enjoyed the preparation with the polenta better from last year. Now it is served with pearl pasta (like couscous) that had a bunck of lima beans in it. The chicken was good, but I simply can not get that excited by rotisserie chicken. The kids burgers were ok, too. The steak was the biggest disappointment. It was tough, as flank steak often is, and served with lukewarm fries and a bit of onion jam. We had the profiteroles, opera, creme brulee and a dish of chocolate ice cream for dessert. The opera and profiteroles were good, though not amazing and ice cream is ice cream. The creme brulee, as I said before simply wasn't what it claimed to be. It was watery custard with cinnamon on top. I loved this restaurant last year, and it was the low point in a week of really good food. We left MGM just to dine here, and it was a mistake. While some of the food we ordered was finem it was not worth a special trip.

If anyone has been to Le Cellier since the menu change, can you please post if the chocolate "moose" and smores are still on the kids menu for desserts? My kids are all about dessert. : )

OMG, I didn"t see this thread sooner so I started a new thread about the Chefs menu change. I can't believe Chefs would remove the duck from the menu, but even harder to believe is that they've added a burger! Just this morning, I rearranged my whole schedule to squeeze in an ADR for Chefs - just for the duck. I'll probably cancel it now. Was hoping for something at least a little more authentic. Anybody think they may change the menu back after free dining? I'm thinking not until January when they are no longer participating in DDP.
:tink:

I hate to bear more bad news, but Chefs is participating in the dining plan next year. Disney has updated the list of participating restaurants since they released the brochure. Most places are back on - late contracts, I guess. :confused3

Just today we cancelled our reservation at Les Chef's because of the menu change. There is an updated menu on Deb's website. I'm hoping that the changes in Le Cellier are not as drastic because we are eating there also.

...we ate at O'Hana's last week and there are some slight changes to their menu as well.....they don't serve rice or streing beans any more, but have some kind of 'chips' [like hard, crunchy pita bread (?)] with dipping sauces that were really good....and, they don't have the fresh pineapple with caramel sauce, but in its place is THE MOST AMAZIN' DESSERT imaginable! It's a warm banana bread (NOT like the typical banana-nut/walnut type bread) with vanilla ice cream and a warm bananas foster drizzled on top.....simply AWESOME!!!

Bread pudding. I know that I had this menu in February and I think I also had it last September.

I am so disappointed to hear of the Chefs menu change, particularly having spent so long on the phone booking the Candlelight Processional package, and the cost of that phoning fro the UK.
Can you believe a quality French restaurant would put a burger on their evening dinner menu? I have had 'steak hache' in France on a few occasions and it is like a raw McDonalds! Flank Steak even sounds tough! Chicken you can get at Tusker House and Cosmic Rays, but it looks like that is what I will now have to have.
It's sad isn't it?

that I saw this post. My brother wanted the duck and I wanted the fillet. We cancelled our ADR for Chef's :sad2: We'll just do lunch there one day for the soup. Maybe.

We ate at Le Cellier on Thursday (8/24) for lunch (we couldn't get dinner ADRs when I called three months ago). The one thing that I noticed that changed on the lunch menu was the french dip sandwich. It used to be sliced prime rib with cheese and horseradish sauce on a nice french roll. Now they have more of a shredded prime rib on toast with BBQ sauce and coleslaw. Not near as good as the old sandwich. I told the server I was disappointed. The desserts also changed a bit. They now have a creme brulee sampler (half vanilla and half maple) and a sorbet sampler (chef's choice - ours tasted like mango and boisenberry). No more dessert sampler.

Both these changes disappointed me. I LOVED the old prime rib sandwich and I really need a full serving of the maple creme brulee. The half size just wasn't enough - especially when DH and I both have a spoon in it!!

They still have the chocolate mousse and smores for kids but the "moose" was "dumbed down." They used M&M's for eyes and nose and no more whiskers.

Thank you for the specific information. I'm glad to see that these items are still on the kid's menu, but am sorry to hear that they've been dumbed down.
