updated info

Question?

I was booking my Best Rate reservation and got to the point it asked me my log-in and I couldn't remember, went round and round and finally it took but instead of carrying on with my reservation it dumped be back at the beginning of a regular reservation and not the passholder date page for Best Rate. So I started over, logged-in now and would you believe the rate I was quoted was not coming up but instead of saying I had to have 120 days and all the requirements it tells me it's the BEST MATCH. Previous with the rate I was trying to book it DID say Best Rate and mentioned all the things I know are required. What it's telling me now is that there are no AP rates available.

So do I book this Best Rate or is the system flipping out and I should wait till it resets it's self. I'm sooo frustrated. I figured what the heck go with their new program if I ended up with a better rate by the time I traveled because of it that would be great but at least I would know and could move on and now after trying to make the reservation it's not working.

Is there a server somewhere I can kick? Grrrr. Going to stay up past midnight to see if something rights itself and then try again in the morning unless someone has a suggestion.

Am I wrong in thinking that the Best Rate is just out there for all AP holders because they want us to book online and be done filling up their phone systems? The system seemed to think there was 1 room at this Best Rate and because I was trying to book it and got kicked out that the 1 room is no longer available.

Sorry for the rant but here I tried to do what Disney wants us to do and instead of it working I'm left pulling my hair out.

Thanks for listening :) I'd update this if I ever get my reservation. Lollipop Mom thanks for all your hard work you've put into this gathering the info.

edited update: Thanks Sammie! :) at least regardless of frustrations I have to put up with there is a disney trip on the horizon i'll just focus on that ;) GREAT NEWS! The computer was finally doing it's thing and I'm booked with the Best Rate Program. If lower rates come out I'll be thrilled if not at least I've finally made my reservation and can now check off another thing on my to-do list. :) Thanks for not tossing me in the 7 Seas Lagoon last night after my temper tantrum LOL

It is possible the Disney system will have to reset, however you can try restarting your computer, which might clear your cookies, and try again. Sometimes when you stop an online reservation midway, it won't let you try again right away as it recognizes you. That probably does not make sense.

The only other thing is while it was hesitating, someone else got it. Kinda like buying concert tickets online.

I am not sure but I will try ask around and see if I can get you an answer. Right now most of my friends have as many questions as all of you do about the program. Few seem to have all answers as SueEllen stated.

I will also try to get some clarification if there will be discounts available for those that don't participate, as there is conflicting info on that right now. I agree with SueEllen, I think there will be some at times. Maybe not year round. If bookings are heavy there would be no reason to discount anything else. Only time will tell how popular or not the program is.

But what's this about trip insurance?????????

:teeth: Just that I would say if you are booking something with a nonrefundable deposit that has to be booked 4 months in advance, it would be a wise decision to consider vacation insurance as well. That way if you have something drastic happen (laid off from a job, illness, death in the family) then at least you are covered for those reasons and can get your deposit back. It won't cover you for "I changed my mind" or "the rate didn't get as low as we had hoped" but it will for unforseen emergencies. Disney only offers "their" trip insurance with packages but you can purchase it through other sources. Read the terms and conditions carefully. They aren't all alike! Some are better for cancellation coverage, some are better for trip interruption etc. Some will have stipulations that you must purchase it within X number of days of booking your trip, others will say you can purchase up to 30 days before you travel. Some of the companies I've used for clients and had good experiences with are:
Access America
Travel Guard (this company is actually the one Disney contracts with)
Travel Insured

Read the terms closely...some companies require you to insure your entire travel party, some will let you insure individuals. If you can find that, then insuring the lead traveler protects your deposit. ;) just make sure you are within the guidelines of the terms and conditions from things like how long you have to purchase the policy to how many people are insured. "Bending the rules" is just creating a loophole they can use to get out of paying your claim. :rolleyes1

Thanks Lollipop Mom! I have never booked with a TA before, but seeing all your hard work and knowledge... I may have to try it next time!! You have made a very complicated, ambiguous program from Disney understandable! :teeth:
