Day 2 - Dinner

After leaving Club Cool, my Mother and I started making our way to the World Showcase.

We were on our way to LeCellier for dinner at 6:15, and we were running about one hour early!!! I was so glad that we didnt have to speed walk over there! Insted, we got to take our time. We even stopped in to see the 360 movie about Canada! I haven't done that since 1984! So of course it was cool to see the updated version.

While we were waiting for it to start, I laughed out loud about something, then a young woman walked up to me. She said "I'd know that laugh anywhere". It was NIE! When she said who she was, of course I was scanning my brain for her screen name and went "N - I - E"? She said "yes", and I totally remembered her posts! It was so cool to meet her!

She told us that she'd just been to LeCellier for dinner, and was stuffed! Now I was REALLY excited about going!

After the movie, we made our way over to the restaurant. My Mother loved the gardens.

Originally, my reservation included the 2 others that were supposed to be with us, Madimouse, her husband and their baby. So when I checked in, I told them that it was only going to be 2 of us, and if they could, join us with the other DISers reservations.

Now y'all know me. I couldnt remember exactly WHO the other DISers were, so since we were still early, I hung out to see who was going to show up. (Shhh! Don't tell the others I told you this)

Well, one of the first people I saw was Aubriee! We met back in December. She was there with her ex, and her Mom Betty.

Then Kat, whom I also met in December, showed up too!

Now here comes Mandy and Mom!

And from earlier in the day, Wirki and Hubby!

I made sure to introduce everyone to my Mother, who standing on the side taking it all in . . .

Good thing we were all early, because it gave us some time to chat. See page 21 for video of the whole crew.

After awhile I asked if they were expecting anyone else. Well they were . . . My fake DISex PennConn, and his NEW bf. Well well well . . . HA! I couldnt wait to see him again, and to introduce him to my Mother. Soon, they showed up too . . .

(PennConn: Oh no, he left me! Glenda's beauty has overwhelmed him!) HA!!!!​

After even more chatting, a CM called my name. They weren't able to add us to the group, and our table was ready first. So we waved goodbye and went in.

A few minutes later, we saw the group come in, and MainStMandy waved at us!

My Mother and I ordered the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - Served wild mushroom risotto and white truffle-herb butter sauce. However, she got the mashed potatoes insted of the risotto. They were soooooo good! The next time I'll make that same substitution as well!

For dessert, we both ordered the Maple Creme Brulee. I thought it was just ok.

After we finished eating, we went over to see what everyone was up to that night.

Some of them were staying for Illuminations, so we agreed to meet them afterwards. Meanwhile, I had to visit one of my favorite places - England!

Now if only Seal, or a look-a-like would be in this shop too!!! WOO!!!

After looking around for a bit, we re-joined the group, and walked half-way around the World Showcase for a spot to watch Illuminations. While doing this, we hooked up with Earl and his wife. Now that we'd found a spot - not far from "America", I pulled out my glow sticks and passed them around. Y'all know I LOVE anything that glows!

Illuminations was ok - but I would've passed had I known that the "ball" in the lake was being refurbished. THEN since we were sorda in the "middle" of the showcase, we had that LONG walk back to the car. What I should've done was to let the group go without us, while we stayed closer to England. WHY OH WHY won't Disney build something that goes from the World Showcase to the exit?!! That is a LONG walk!

After Illuminations, we parted ways. My Mother and I went back to AKV to rest up for the next day!

Day 3 - Monday 9/8

This morning was our official EPCOT day. We drove over, and got there right before rope drop.

This day is where I realized the affect the solo trips had on me. My Mother was tired, and even though I explained to her about getting there early, and doing the most popular rides first, she was still at a loss as to why we were not "stopping and smelling the roses". She felt a bit rushed. She didnt understand why we had to get up so early, then walk fast, and not stop to look at shows, exhibits, etc. In the future, I'll have to try to do the trips differently.

Well, I did explain to her that Soarin is a popular ride, and that when they let us start walking, we need to keep up the pace, and head straight to The Land. When we got there, while I was excited to be in line, my Mother just looked tired. I just hoped that after we got on, she would be a bit refreshed.

Of course I had to see if I was tall enough to get on . . .

Of course the ride was "Heavenly"! I even rode with my shoes off! Afterwards we got fast passes to ride later, then headed over to Mission Space - the TAME side of course!

As we were standing in line, I couldn't help but wonder how many of the people in the "regular" line would soon be losing their breakfast! HA!

Now it was time for Test Track!

This was fun ride, but I wish they could add more to it or something . . . My Mother said that just before the fast part, she went to move/adjust her arm, the car tilted, and she hurt her arm. In a few days she developed a big bruise. I was really sorry.

Now it was time to head over to Nemo. This would be my Mother's first time.

This is the cutiest ride! I was disappointed that the part with the "scary" fish wasnt working though. It was just sitting there. But at least the cool part with Crush was working!

On our way out, I spotted a DISer! I was sooooo excited! I rushed over, and said, "excuse me, are you on DISboards"? She said "Yes"! And we introduced ourselves. She is "4boysRus". It was my first DISstalking moment!!! YAY!!!

After we said our goodbyes, my Mother and I headed over to The Land to ride Soarin again, and to meet DISer LazyDoxy and her husband for lunch!

I ordered the turkey sandwhich with munster cheese, and for dessert, the Butterfinger cheesecake! It was all really good!

We had a really good time lunch talking. It was almost as if we'd known each other at home and just met up there for lunch.

Even though we'd spent a good amount of talking, it still seemed to go by fast! Thanks for inviting us to lunch!

Afterwards, my Mother and I stopped in Mousegears, my favorite store next to World of Disney! There we bought something to wear to the Halloween Party, and looked around at all the goodies!

Now it was about 1pm. We headed back to the room where we rested and slept till our dinner date . . .

Day 2 - Dinner

awww I am lime green in envy... i wish I made it to Le Celler meet... we have to do this again.... this is the 2nd time I miss this meet... as I was going through your picture and mine... I am glad you are doing a trip report.... Thank you Gmax...

I am really enjoying your trip report (so sorry about your ex though). I think it is awesome that you are able to take a trip with your mom, you are very lucky, and she looks so cute in all her pictures.

The AKL would be my first choice, I have always wanted to stay there. Your room is amazing!

My nephew is also growing (is that right?) dreads but I must say yours look much better than his (about 1000 times better!). He has long hair and did not cut it first so maybe that is the problem. His just looks like a big mess to me but he tells me they are "still babies" and will look better as time passes. Next time he comes over I will try to remember to take a picture and post for you to see. My husband says if he had a pirate outfit he would look like Capt. Jack Sparrow

i was wondering when your mom was going to get tired. i drag my mom around as well and always end up feeling guilty about it. i do let her stop and smell the roses though. i am taking her on my birthday trip in april. i can't believe that you got your mom on test track....my mom won't try anything. she makes me swear that there is no drops before we get on any ride....she is still mad at me for that little drop in pirates of the carribbean.

Thanks for all the great pictures it really makes me miss my home! I had my first trip home last month (it seems like ages ago) and it was so wonderful. I had a 2br and it was HUGE! I wanted to take another trip next October but thinking that was too far off I just had to schedule one for January!
Also a late thank you for your (great) advice on DVC.......it was maybe mid 2007 when I had posted in a thread and I remember a very helpful response from you I have been an owner since August 2007.
Happy you had such a great trip and looking forward to the rest!

While snaking through the non-existant line for the safari, MadiMouse called! She and her family were just waking up in DisneyLand! It was so good hearing from her! But of course, at that moment I wished she was with us!

The safari is something I usually skip, but hey, anything is "funner" with a group of DISers!

Notice the animal in the pic below, that JUMPED into the truck. It's directly behind me! HA!!!! And no, I have NO IDEA why I look soooooo crazy

We acted up so badly on the safari, and laughed soooo much, that even the CM took notice.

Jumping in late here but I want to confirm that you did give the safari CM a run for her money!!! You were probably the most fun group of DISers she had all day!!! (by the way, I was the DISer sitting two rows behind you!!!)
