FYI:

Not the best deal, but if you're in need of DGC's:

RetailMeNot currently has 5% Cashback Sitewide for all purchases at BJ's Wholesale Club.

Current prices for DGC at BJ's (all Physical cards):

$500 $474.99 5.002%
$100 $94.49 5.51%
$50 $48.49 3.02%
$150 $142.49 5.006666667%
$25 $24.49 2.04%

Combined with the Cashback - up to $1000 for $50 Cashback at 5% Back nets you 10.23% if you buy the $100 Denominations (up to 10 for $944.50 and $47.22 in cashback), or 10.05% if you buy 11 cards to max out the cashback at $50.

Cashback has tracked for me as recently as January 2024.

RMN has 10% Cashback on BJ's Wholesale Club today. YMMV as always on DGC purchases tracking with RMN. Also it appears the additional discount on BJ's DGCs has ended.

Current prices are:

$500 $479.99 4.002%
$150 $142.49 5.006666667%
$100 $96.99 3.01%
$50 $48.49 3.02%
$25 $24.49 2.04%

So your best deal is the $150 DGCs, even though it requires extra effort to combine all of those $50 cards, if the 10% Cashback tracks you would net 14.5% off plus any credit card cashback.

Also Walmart has 12% Cashback sitewide via RMN, not sure if that one will track though?

Not a lot of saving tips I've found for TDR. We're planning on going in October of this year and I already have booked our TDR vacation package. Just know that at least right now there is a ton of competition for booking both Tokyo Disney hotels and the Vacation Packages (which includes the hotel, park tickets and depending on the package some included "fastpasses" and possibly dining reservations). The VPs go live right now at 3pm Japan time, which is 2am Eastern - I've had to wake up 3 times now at 2am to book vacation packages and then it took me hours to finally book it because their systems get so overwhelmed that it takes forever and sometimes it errors out and you have to start all over, it was not fun. Just plan for some of this and do a lot of research if you are going to buy a vacation package or want to stay in a Disney hotel. If you want to stay in the Sheraton or a 3rd party hotel on the Monorail loop or a hotel further out - then you don't need to worry about any of this :)

I think my biggest savings will be applying for a new cc with a bonus. We'll see what happens with that.
I'm happy to see TDR offers packages. Back in 2015 I believe they started offering them to students (living in Japan). Thanks for the 2am warning, I'll make a note of that.

That sucks! We're going mid November for 2 weeks. Not doing the VP but I do want to try for 4 nights at the Miracosta which will be challenging. Window for booking hasn't open so I'm trying to read up on all the tricks and do some trials. I might have to settle for the Disneyland Hotel, though. On the bright side, we snagged Biz class seats each way on JAL with AA miles plus a small charge for taxes.

We stayed at the Miracosta in 2015. I haven't been to the Resort site but back then you could only book 2 nights. If you wanted 4 nights, you had to call again the next day which we did and while there they actually made us leave our room to go two doors down for the last two nights. PITA. Hope that's changed.
Not sure if they still offer these cute amenity tins but I got two, one from each room. The lower right is my photo.

They also had postcards and really cute white plastic Mickey Mouse spoons/coffee stirs.

I'm sure so much has changed.

Yeah I probably should have opened a new credit card to earn the points - I just used my Chase Sapphire Reserve to pay for the Vacation Packages. The weak yen has been helping, but don't really know of any other discounts. Even the vacation packages are more expensive than just booking everything on your own, but the Fantasy Springs Passport, which gives you unlimited Fastpass access to 3 of the 4 rides in Fantasy Springs and Standby Pass access to the 4th ride is worthwhile and extremely hard to get without a vacation package (you only can try to buy it otherwise if you're staying at the Fantasy Springs Hotel, and that hotel books in minutes every night).

They also offer a new package called Attractions & Even More which offers you unlimited fastpass access for most of the rides in the 2 parks as well. It is expensive, but probably the best way to get everything done in 2 days.

On the website, which now offers an English version (not sure if they had that back in 2015, I heard it was new) you can book up to 5 nights at a hotel, but it can be hard to find availability even for 1 night right now with high demand for Miracosta and Fantasy Springs (the only 2 parks offering "Happy Entry" or early entry into Tokyo DisneySea right now).

I've heard that usually if you book the same room type, they will let you stay in the same room, even if you did a 2-night vacation package and added a 3rd night. Its important to note that the vacation packages are only for a maximum of 2 nights, but you can book multiple vacation packages if you wanted to stay longer and have all of the perks of the vacation package.

Those postcards look great - I hear they still include those with your hotel stay!

Alrighty friends, I'm off to visit a Costco Business Center, it's a bit of a drive and DH is ready to go. The main posts have been updated. If you know of a deal, please post! Thanks.

A negative change to Amazon egift cards is that they no longer send you a claim code that you can print out to give to someone, your only choices are to save the email until you want to redeem it. (This change must have happened in the last 2 weeks, as I ordered an egift around 2 weeks ago and did get a claim code.) This is not good for people who have multiple Amazon accounts and don't want to save a gift card to a specific account. It is also never a good idea to leave egift cards sitting in your email as you never know when your email will get hacked.

For this reason, in the future I will order physical gift cards and have them shipped. Amazon's stupidity will end up costing them money in shipping.

Do you know what the limit is?

I tried to do two in one day (me at one target, Hubby on way home from work at different target) and the second failed. I'm guessing they only allow one debit payment per day until the transactions close at end of day, but could have been user error.

Thanks. So for a Visa gift card, to run as a debit the PIN default is the last 4 digits of the card number?

Yes. Or register the pin online as sometime you want it to be.

I think it's only the Visa cards that Staples does fee free every 4 weeks. Definitely not the master cards, and I think the other Visa like Vanilla don't work either.

For what it's worth, I've done this a bunch when I can stack red card, target circle offer, and the 5% ink and the biggest annoyance is the $200 pretty day limit. We're 2 miles from a target, though, so it's easy to pop over when I'm out for pretty much anything else and I remind myself every visit to pay $200 is $10 saved.

Works at Lowe's too. We were finishing part of the basement, so lots of charges on their in house card that's 5% off (just like the red card) and then hubby would make a debit payment each time he had to go back for more supplies.

Thanks. I rarely use my red card, as the 10% off Target gift cards are usually enough for our yearly shopping. Only use when there is an offer on it.

I didn't find that coupon, but found close to a dozen coupons for completely free items at Kroger through the 23rd. Everything from free bacon to free spices and trail mix-I do have Kroger boost. No additional purchase needed. Thanks for the heads up to check.

AFAIK Walmart and Sam's GC are interchangeable. On the back of every card I have from either it lists Sam's , Sam's.com, WM, WM .com as eligible. I just used a bunch of Sam's club issued GC and eGC at Walmart. I've used Walmart GC and eGC in the past. If I look on walmart .com for both GC they both state
  • Gift Cards may be redeemed at Walmart stores, Walmart.com, Sam's Club, and Samsclub.com by SAM's Club members.
So going into a Walmart and buying whatever they have on the shelf should avoid any activation issues.

Where I'm more concerned is if you can use a GC to pay through Sam's Club for the tickets. Have you started a checkout and it gave the option? I see the tickets through the Travel & Entertainment service which the FAQ for that states no GC. And going through a dummy booking is only giving me credit/debit options.

https://serviceshub.samsclub.com/pages.php?sub=tawfaq

What are my payment options?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We do accept Sam's Club Mastercard.

We currently are not able to accept gift cards and other private label cards including Sam's Club PLCC. We also do not accept Travelers Cheques or Personal Checks. All payments are in USD.

(emphasis is mine)

Is there somewhere else to buy the ticket at Sam's Club that lets you use a GC?
Thanks for all this info! I missed that "payment options" FAQ. I hadn't seen anything to the contrary, just missed the direct info. Guess I'll just be happy for the Sam's discount and pay with a CC.

Trying to use the 12% at Walmart for the first time and my purchase (for…merchandise) got cancelled. I’ve seen people mention this before. Is there a trick to it? I used PayPal if that makes a difference.

When it comes to buying gift cards most sites do not allow the purchase to go through PayPal, so yes, this could be the issue. Try just going straight through Walmart site with your cc.
