I bought a gc today 7/01/24 and my $15 ExtraBucks Rewards expires 7/31/24.

My friend bought a $50 DGC at Target. When she checked into Disney resort she handed card to CM who scanned card and told her the card only had $9 she said the label covering the numbers had not been removed. How is this possible?

The card was tampered with and she did not notice it* Fraudsters pull the cards from the rack, peel off the strips covering important info like numbers and pins, steal the data, replace the strips & put the card back on the shelf. You can buy the stips Big, easy business and barely any prosecutions for theft because it's hard to catch them. Hopefully she immediately called the phone number on the back of the card. Disney may or may not be able to recover her funds.

Next time she needs to check those balances after purchase.

Nah, you're assuming the person who spent the money knew it was stolen. Unlikely. Usually once funds are loaded the thief sells the gc 3rd party like Raise or something. The person buying it is law abiding Jill from Nebraska who thought she just saved 7% on a $50 DGC. She goes on to spend $41 on whatever disney thing she was buying and thinks she has $9 left to spend someday. Jill will be disappointed- and if she registered the card to her online dgc login her entire online dgc collection is at risk of being frozen for suspected fraud once your friend reports the gc stolen to Disney.

With one of the Chase Freedom (and Chase Freedom Flex) 5% Cashback categories being Live Entertainment, I believe you can use this for ticket purchases to theme parks, including Disney parks based on last year when Chase ran this.

If you plan to buy any Disney parks tickets, including hard ticket events like a After Hours party, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (once those tickets go on sale), you can get 5% Cashback.

Combine this with the 12% off Coupon (RMNAPP12) available for TripAdvisor (only for purchases made through the app) for a total of roughly 16.3% off the price of tickets. It is only about 10.3% off the price if you have an Annual Pass or DVC discount and you buy hard tickets on a date with the $10 discount, so using a DGC through Disney direct could be better depending on how much of a discount you're getting on your DGC.

I am pretty sure TripAdvisor qualifies for the 5% cashback from what I remember last year.

EDIT: Just an FYI, TripAdvisor coded as Travel and not Entertainment, so I did not receive the 5% Chase Freedom.

You can also look to see if Viator (same company as TripAdvisor) has a decent coupon and combine with cashback, but I've found the 12% off to be the better discount most of the time.

I'd love to get a new Food Processor , the one I have originally belonged to my late MIL, I've had it since 2000, Black & Decker Shortcut Food Processor CFP10. Worked just fine but nowadays you can smell something burning if you use it.
