It's a bit like the Starbucks or Dunkins app, if you use those: you use your money to load a virtual card, then make payments with that virtual card.

Information from Cash App:

The Cash Card is a Visa debit card which can be used to pay for goods and services from your Cash App balance, both online and in stores.

Your Cash Card can be used as soon as you order it by adding it to Apple Pay and Google Pay, or by using the card details found in the Cash Card tab.

Cash App supports debit and credit cards from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

Most prepaid cards are also supported, but depositing to these cards does not work.

ATM cards, Paypal, and business debit cards are not supported at this time.

I think you need to spend $50 on the gift card and then you will get $5 off your next purchase. Not sure if it works for online as I also don't have a Meijer near here and never bought anything online from them.

Like @trenty said, it's a $5 reward (as in, $5 off) your next purchase, rather than $5 off the GC.

I haven't got a Meijer near me either. My guess is that rewards cannot be used toward gift card purchases, but it would be great if someone could confirm/deny.

For those who have a Meijer near them..... I believe it varies for location, but the Meijer's near me codes as "groceries store" for both Discover and Chase Disney. Both of which have the 5%(either cashback or 5x points) going on right now. So don't forget to use those cards if you are still working to the $1500 in Q1.
