As a Costco customer and shareholder, I am glad they are implementing measures to enforce access to membership privileges. I don't see it as any different from other companies such as Netflix cracking down on passcode sharing. Membership fees account for the bulk of their overhead and profit since product margins are razor thin in order for them to offer low prices to customers. Opting for their executive membership gives you a 2% rebate which actually more than offsets the cost of membership if you purchase big ticket items there, such as gift cards, a set of tires, a grill, car rental and any travel booked through Costco.

I agree. If you pay for a membership why should others feel they don't have to. Crazy! Good on you Costco crack that whip! :rotfl:

Which reminds me

The saga continues.... The dispute process with Macy's is rough. Still haven't gotten responses to the email submitted information and customer service won't even give me a case number to track anything. I get the sense that Safeway would fix it if I had proof of denial from Macy's but Macy's won't approve or deny...

I'm just mostly sad because I want my plate/bowls 🤣

I don't understand all of this. If you were to go to Macy's to check the balance of your gift cards and it show error or whatever and you took a screen shot of it, then submit it to Safeway, why wouldn't they honor that?

Macy's :sad2:
Our Macy's CS rep "Bubbles" and yes, that's the name she gave us, told us all sorts of things and what she would do to help us. Which it turned out Bubbles didn't do anything. She didn't even put it on our account that Discover CS was the person who actually placed the call while we were on the phone. It was a conference call or group call and there was no record of it.

I hope you get it sorted out. It took us 3 months, the whole ordeal was unprofessional and plain weird. Sounds familiar right?!

Hmmm, unfortunately your approach is incorrect. To prevent confusion please delete your post.

@mickeytopolino When buying gift cards online at Kroger, Chase does not track as Grocery because Kroger online is a third party site Blackhawk Network. I've posted warnings on Post #1 and Post #2

@Alli1988 you have the right idea. 4x fuel will yield a higher savings since you're filling up two vehicles to 35 gallons. However, I don't think 6,000 points is manageable unless you plan on transferring any remaining points to the following month. I would do as much gas points you would need for the month and use the Meijer offer.

@bbsearchlight is correct, instacart is not an option.
Sorry I deleted my post

I pointed out, I like cash. I do. It’s easy and can’t be hacked. When I got home from work yesterday I had a letter from Ticketmaster that they had a breach and my info was compromised. (I dont even remember the last time I used ticketmaster!) So yes I need to get Venmo or Paypal but I love cash!🥰 Cash never made me lose sleep-except maybe, not having any but that is a different problem😂

Cash is King!

I didn't get the email either and DH recently bought tickets for MrBallen's live performance in Detroit. DS got us into watching his youtube videos on the Missing 411 - excellent btw. I hope he brings new stories on this topic during the show! :hyper:

COSTCO

Buy $100 in Morton's (2 x $50) eGift Cards for $74.99

Buy $100 in TGI Friday's (4 x $25) eGift Cards for $69.99

Can I buy electronic GCs from CVS would that work for a CB portal as a purchase from CVS?

Hmm, that's interesting, I don't have a DP for that.
I see RMN is 20% cb and CVS sells a variety of egift cards including Disney . I'm not sure.

CVS online gift cards are sold by a third party; The GiftCardShop.
So credit card offers won't work but will the cashback website?

I'm going to say no. Even though RMN states GC are excluded you're not buying gift cards from CVS, you're buying them from the vendor.

Buy hey, if you want to test it out and post your results... that would certainly help the community.

Edit to add: If anyone wants to school me, bring it! I'll be happy to add a new DP.

Costco has announced that they will be installing scanners at the entrance to stores to stop people who don't have membership or people who are using a family members membership card.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts Costco gift cards (known as Costco Shop cards), because right now the policy is that if you have a Costco Shop card, you can shop at Costco without membership.

My Costco already implemented this, I don't have a Costco card but my wife does - so I need to make sure we all go inside together now. Normally I would say go inside and I'll grab a shopping cart and meet you in there - but not anymore.

Haven't tried entering using a gift card though.

It is kind of crazy - and at my Costco which is one of the busiest in the country (or so I've been told) - it creates a backup to get inside the club as everyone now has to scan their card. You may be surprised (or not) how many people don't have their Costco card out and ready to scan - so then they are blocking the entrance, fumbling through their purse or wallet for their Costco card.

Next thing they're going to add facial recognition or fingerprint scanners like at Disney World.

I'm not opposed to Costco making sure you're not trying to skip out on the membership fee, but do it in such a way that doesn't make it an inconvenience for everyone. In the past, they used to validate your membership at checkout - while they're scanning your card. I know because multiple cashiers had commented that my wife looks different in her photo (it just so happens her original photo was taken the same day we did our pre-wedding photos and she had tons of makeup on) - she finally retook her photo so they'd stop asking her about it lol.

This is crazy to me. You've never been able to just walk in a Costco here without showing your card. All of our stores are always busy, the business one probably isn't all the time, but if I can't go at open to shop I'll wait until I can.

I live in the land of Costco and am surprised my normal store didn't have the scanners when I went for my eye Dr appt in June. And that's my one gripe, you can't "sneak" in the exit with your card to go to optical any more. I'd always explain where I was going. They put chairs across the check outs not being used so you have to either go through a crowded check out or self check.

I did 5 or 6 transactions and they paid out. Its possible they are referring to Staples GC
