Updated Disney Gift Card Deals and More

Not resolved yet, but going at it from all angles. Purchased from Safeway when they had their big 10x points offer. In a fun little twist, I ended up with 2 cards from different Safeways. The one that had that I had to purchase from the Customer Service counter was the one that got scammed.

Logged it with Macy's as soon as I saw it since the majority of the value was still there and if I could get them to transfer the balance to a different number I would have just let it go since the deal was killer and I still would have come out ahead. Now the card has been fully drained. Haven't gotten an approval/denial yet.

Reaching out to Safeway, actually got to Customer Service pretty quickly and they were kind and issued a ticket number. But they won't do anything until I have proof of a denial from Macy's.
The saga continues.... The dispute process with Macy's is rough. Still haven't gotten responses to the email submitted information and customer service won't even give me a case number to track anything. I get the sense that Safeway would fix it if I had proof of denial from Macy's but Macy's won't approve or deny...

I'm just mostly sad because I want my plate/bowls 🤣

Why, have you had luck buy gift cards with Rakuten, if so where?

IMO, when it comes to buying any gift card, Rakuten is the worst.
No, this morning I put together a post to ask why everyone seems to favor RMN over Rakuten and it wouldn't go thru and said it was spam. But you answered my question... Looks like gift cards don't track through Rakuten?

I have personally found RMN to be the most likely to track for things that theoretically indicate that they won't track in the terms and conditions. Rakuten and other portals, not so much.

I never had a RMN account until the other day when I downloaded the app. However, payment options are paypal or venmo? I do not use either. Is it worth it for me, in all your wise opinions, to enter the 21st century and get either paypal or venmo? Is so which would you all say is more useful/cheapest/easiest/ etc…?

It is highly YMMV with Rakuten. I have had gift card purchases track sometimes, others not - and I have seen posts where they will claw back the rewards afterwards, even after you have withdrawn the money, leaving you with a negative balance.

For buying merchandise, Rakuten is good, and I often will use them if they have the best cashback.

I'm shocked you made it this far without one or the other!

For either one, you can transfer to a verified bank account for free, so both are free and easy in that regard.

If you want to be able to use the service at various merchants, then it's Paypal. I keep a couple of credit cards saved on Paypal and will often select to checkout through them if I'm buying something one-off where I don't want to go through the hassle of entering my credit card on a new website.

If you want to be able to make small transactions to friends, like splitting the bill at a restuarant, then Venmo. Same for paying a small, local merchant, like someone at a farmer's market who only takes cash or venmo. While they're getting into business spaces, they are much more a replacement for cash spending. (For instance, that's how our girl scout troop accepts money from parents when they don't have cash/check.)

The digital coupons at the Kroger website included a $10-off-$100 on a Best Buy gift card. I think you need to sign in and "clip" to get the deal. I forgot the expiration date--sorry.

Same for me but I just made an account, haven't gotten the app yet. I also don't have PayPal or venmo and don't want either but looks like I'm going to have to get one or the other to use this. Rakuten and their checks are my favorite.

1. You don't have to have the RMN app. You can do everything on a laptop or other kind of computer as well.
2. PayPal and Venmo accounts don't cost anything, FYI. With PayPal at least, you also don't need an app to use it
