We have a trip coming up with our final payment due this week. Has anyone heard any rumblings of an updated package cancellation policy due to the uptick in COVID cases in central FL? As of last week we were feeling good, but starting to worry If this current trajectory continues.
I may give Disney a call, but wanted to see if anyone had any insight.
Thanks in advance!

Following this thread. We leave at the end of September but we need to decide if we are going or will cancel by the end of August.

As of right now, nothing has officially changed with the package cancellation policy. You still have to cancel 30 days prior to arrival to get your deposit back (the Vacation Protection Plan, if you purchased that, is nonrefundable). If you cancel between 2-29 days prior to arrival, you get all of your money back minus your deposit and the VPP if applicable. Cancellations made 1 day or less are nonrefundable. If you just reschedule, it's a $50 change fee once you're within 30 days [edited to clarify: the change fee doesn't apply if your package price increases] and any money you paid toward this trip will be applied to the balance of your new trip.

I say officially because it's always best to just call and talk to them if you're within 30 days as they've been known to work with guests on a case-by-case basis. But since exceptions wouldn't be guaranteed, it's best to be prepared to lose your $200 if you decide to make final payment and end up cancelling between 2-29 days prior to arrival.

Thank you!
I’ll give Disney a call and see what they say.

We moved our dates and the price dropped, but the CM still waived the fee. They are even refunding Boo Bash tickets according to reports from here.

If you increase the price of your reservation when rescheduling, they don’t charge the $50 fee.

Correct. And honestly, they've been (in practice) waiving it for almost everybody even if the price decreases, although it's not 100% guaranteed.

That's awesome. Honestly, that's what most CMs are doing. I had a client within 30 days who wanted to reschedule. I called yesterday and got a CM who said they couldn't waive the fee since the price would decrease. I thanked the CM, said I'd have to get back to my client, hung up, dialed back, and got a CM who rescheduled without charging the change fee (she didn't even MENTION it). While Disney is certainly under no obligation to waive the change fee when the price decreases since it's clearly written in the T & C, it's a good customer service move to waive it right now IMO.

I have a trip scheduled for September and I am still deciding if I will reschedule. Just to clarify, if it is less than 30 days before my arrival and I reschedule, there will be a $50 change fee, is this correct?

I rescheduled one day before I was supposed to arrive at Pop. No change fee. Disney just applied my original down payment to my rescheduled December visit.

Disney World's official policy is that, if you change package dates within 30 days of arrival AND your new package is less expensive than your current package, you will be charged a $50 change fee. However, in practice, they will often waive it. If the CM you talk to initially says they will have to charge that fee, my advice would be to tell them you have to get back to them then call right back. Chances are the next CM you talk to will waive it.
