UPDATED! 12 Days on DxDDP, 27 Meals, Too Many Snacks! Kona & Le Cellier

wow....cape may looks like the end of the night not beginning....no exuse for the buffet to look like that.

A little disappointed by the empty buffet. I love that one and I'm a little nervous as we are eating there in February. It is usually my favorite.

This was my first visit to this restaurant for dinner and was really disappointed. Really limited options, most stations were empty most of the time, dry or cold food, and stale tasting desserts. Have had much better food & service at the Crystal Palace & Tusker House. Don't think I'd go back again anytime soon.

So after a bad dinner at Cape May, was pretty apprehensive about dining there for breakfast, but did not have enough time to cancel without penalty. Breakfast was surprisingly not bad. Standard breakfast buffet, but at least the food was much better than the night before.

So I wanted to give this place a try, as I have never been before. It was completely worth it!! Had a table outside (but in the shade) and it was quiet and pretty.

My server was excellent (even went to the manager to tell him how great she was) as was the food.

Started with Mozzarella. Wonderful!! Hot & fresh and delicious!!

For the entree I tried the Candele - candle stick pasta, sausage ragu, polpettine, mozzarella, ricotta. Very good!

For dessert, tried the Coppa di Brutti Ma Buoni. YUM!!!

This was a fantastic meal and I would definitely go again.

Hi! Loving the report! I have a question though. Are you dining solo? How did that go?

I am looking at an October 2012 trip and depending on how long I can convince my hubby to stay I may tack a few days on at the end solo.

I am sorry to hear about the bummer of Cape May. That was one of the places I would tack on to a solo period.

I am sorry to hear about the bummer of Cape May. That was one of the places I would tack on to a solo period.

I went down solo from Tuesday to late Saturday afternoon, then my family joined me later Saturday afternoon until the following Saturday when we all went home.

This was my 5th time doing WDW solo and I LOVE IT!!!! I did have a great time with my family, especially since it was my brother's first time to Walt Disney World. There is just something very refreshing going solo. No worrying about is this person having a good time or is everyone happy. Just have to worry about you having a good time. You get to do what you want to do when you want to do it. You can ride an attraction as many times as you want or skip the one's you don't care for. You get to dine where and when you want. You get to take your time and linger up Main Street USA or find a bench and people watch.

I'm used to dining solo, so none of these places were difficult to dine at solo. I always have a book on me, so I would either pull that out and read or just sit peacefully and soak in the environment.

Had dinner at Le Cellier and it was good. A bit disappointed in the server (pretty slow).

Drink:
Chocolate Raspberry Shake

Bread (the pretzel was the best. the other rolls were pretty hard):

Appetizer:
Scallops - these were good, but a bit too salty. Tasted more of the salt than the scallop.

Entree:
NY Strip Steak w/Roasted potatoes (sorry, I started cutting the steak before I remembered to take the picture).

Dessert:
Chocolate Trio

Dinner was good, but not great. I do miss all of the bread sticks, instead of just the pretzel bread sticks. Also, miss the Chocolate Whiskey Cake they used to serve.

Did get a little perturbed at the cast member serving the next table over from me trash talking Boston & the Bruins. Everyone has opinions, but to talk so loudly and make some pretty rude comments about "everyone in Massachusetts" is a bit much, especially for someone in a location where there are customers from all over.

Day 5 - Lunch @ Sci Fi & Dinner @ Artist Point.

Great reviews! I am surprised you went back to Cape May after that dinner :lmao: The breakfast looked quite good, but I can only imagine how you felt for dinner.

Day 5 brings up to AM EMH at the Studios, then lunch at Sci Fi. Wanted to give this one more try, and am sorry that I did. This was one of only 2 meals that were real disappointments throughout the entire trip.

Drink:
Chocolate Shake

Appetizer:
Onion Rings - greasy, greasy

Meal:
Steak w/mashed potatoes. Ok this was nasty after the first bite. Told them no sauce & no seasonal veggies, yet there was some kind of sauce on it and the seasonal veggies anyway. Was told by the server "that is where the flavor is, not the actual steak". Well, the flavor of both was gross. Alot of fat on that meat. It's so dark in there, you can't see what you're eating, so I could not even tell if the meat was cooked right. One bite and I was finished with that. By the time the server actually came back to check on me, the food was stone cold and I did not want to waste anymore time here waiting for replacement food. :headache:

Dessert:
Hot fudge sundae. More fudge than ice cream. 2 scoops of ice cream to one gallon of hot fudge.

This whole meal was a disappointment. Server was slow, food was pretty gross and this was such a waste of a dining credit. Probably won't go back anytime soon.

Next up: Dinner at Artist Point (Best meal during the entire trip!!!)

Dessert:
Hot fudge sundae. More fudge than ice cream. 2 scoops of ice cream to one gallon of hot fudge.

More fudge than ice cream = yummy in my book!

Sorry the steak and the rest of the meal wasn't good.

Such a shame that Sci-Fi was not great; it's such a cool restaurant to visit with a wonderful theme but the food is just bad :sad2:

I'm in :thumbsup2 just found your tr.. I am also from Mass and will be going to WDW in March.. I look forward to reading your reviews :goodvibes

Have found my new all-time favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World!!!!

My family arrived and unpacked, then we headed for the Magic Kingdom to grab the boat over to Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge has always been my favorite deluxe resort, so it was a little pang of regret not staying there for our trip, but we were all on a budget. We checked in and was seated promptly by a window overlooking the pool area. Our waiter was great.

Let's start with the appetizers!

Warm Sourdough Bread with Lava Salt:

Seared Diver Scallops with Blistered Heirloom Tomato Risotto (sorry for the blurry picture):

Artisan Cheeses (A Selection of Artisanal Cheeses, Smokey Blue Cheese, Reypenaer VSOP, and “The Drunken Goat” with Seasonal Garnishes and Walnut Toast):

Artist Point “BLT” with Sweet Chili Lacquered Snake River Farm Pork Belly,
Baby Heirloom Tomatoes, Vincotto, and Petit Greens:

Dungeness Crab Risotto with Blood Orange Sauce and Pea Shoots:

Char-grilled Buffalo Striploin Steak with Marble Potatoes, Garden Vegetables, and Shiraz Gastrique:

Seared Diver Scallops with Blistered Heirloom Tomato Risotto, and Herb Pistou:

Grilled Certified Hand-cut “Prime” Black Angus Beef Tenderloin with Marble Potatoes, Garden Beans, Pearl Onions, and Green Peppercorn Butter (ok, so since I'm pretty picky, but again the chef was great. He substituted the garden beans, pearl onions & peppercorn butter for baby carrots):

Everything was cooked to perfection. The meats were all cooked to exactly what we wanted (medium rare on the buffalo and medium on the beef tenderloin). Veggies were very tasty.

I am a certified chocoholic, so of course had to try the Chocolate Indulgence. Valhrona Chocolate Ganache with Salted Chocolate Ice Cream, Amarena Cherries, and Dark Chocolate Crumble.. Oh my goodness!!! It was like I was in chocolate heaven!!! Both my sister & I had this.

My brother & brother-in-law had the Artist Point Cobbler . . . Seasonal Berries
and House-made Black Raspberry Ice Cream:

This truly was the best meal we had during our entire stay. The food was fantastic and our server was wonderful. We never felt rushed, nor did we ever feel we were waiting too long for him. Drinks were always refilled before they ever even 1/2 empty. This was my first time dining here and it will definitely not be the last!!!

Coming up: Day 6 - Early Breakfast @ Boma, Late Lunch @ Tusker House & Late Dinner @ Citricos!

food looks so good it is making me hungry :rotfl: . that stinks about the sci fi that is somewhere I have wanted to try but not sure I will now

I'm sorry you had a bad server at Tusker House. I always hear such great things about it. I'm looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

It probably would not have been that bad, but everytime she had a new table seated in the same area I was, she told them 10 minutes for the characters. Most of us were there quite awhile before the first character came. Also, I may only be one person, but it would have been nice to get a juice refill or plate cleaned at least once. :headache:

So sorry for the delay. Know I took pictures from Boma breakfast, but can't seem to locate them. Will post the review, then try to find the pics and add them on.
