The only "fair" price for a house is what the market is willing to pay for it, not what you paid for it, not what the assessed value is, not what the realtor tells you it's worth. The only way I would tell these people to go away is if you can afford to wait for another offer as long as it takes.
I'm sure it's painful to have someone offer you a low amount for your home, but in this market it might work for some houses, especially houses that have been off the market and re-listed in the same year.
