*UPDATE*(post 24) Looks like our BDAY CR MKV surprise isn't going to happen for DS

thanks for all the good :goodvibes and well wishes...even if we don't get all the answers toorrow, looks like we have OODLES of caring friends!:grouphug:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get good news on Tuesday. My heart and prayers are with you:grouphug:!

I'm Sorry! :sad1: I hope your dd gets some relief soon and you all can reschedule when everyone is feeling better and have less stress!

well we are back... GREAT NEWS, NO TUMOR!......MRI ruled out the wicked scary stuff, but did show a questionable area...so DD went thru more testing( w/neurologist) today, and that cleared up the "shadow" concern.
bottom line, she is not to head back to school early to help with Orientation while we start her on a new med, and she will also take Imitrex for the pain...has to stop her BC pills for now, have regular blood pressure checks..hers was VERY low...like, "are you still with us?" low... No migraine at the moment, which is awesome. After todays stress I thought I was getting one :headache:
So, we go back on Friday, and then again Tuesday back to Neurologist, should get more specific results then.
Dr's wanted to try Topomax, but DD and I said no, not too comfortable trying that and heading off to school , can't remember the name off the top of my head, but another beta blocker and then the Imitrex for now.
I t has been a long day...had to contact the school but they were very understanding, had to cancel flights, they were NOT understanding  so ate $225 on that, just to turnaround and have to book NEW flights for 2 weeks from now.
HOWEVER......I think learning that she does not have a tumor or anything life threatening is a huge relief for DD,( for all of us, but she was internalizing it) even tho her volunteer work and WDW are cancelled, she is in a pretty decent mood. We are so grateful and relieved it is a mageable type issue, well, I know it will rough and painful, but really, we were SO scared.
Wait, did I say 'CANCELLED" for WDW? I meant to say

"post-poned" :cool1:
We had plans for the FD at CSR 12/17-27...DH said when I call to cancel this weekends trip @ CR, see if I can re-schedule it during our Holiday week...I saw the rates online...:scared1::scared1::scared1: but asked...
THEY CARRIED OUR 40% PIN OVER TO 12/23!!!!!!!!!!We will have 2 nights for DS birthday surprise afterall, only in December, and we will have Christmas Eve there! We have not seen the Castle with the icicle lights all over it, and now we will be able to from our room! As before, we are keeping it secret as twice now we ahve tried for this in August, only to have it fall through...so lets hope 3rd time is the charm! Our price is higher overall because the base rate is higher, but the PIN saved us $200 over the current discount, so we are thrilled. So, looks liek we are starting at CSR and ending at CR...AND the doctor said the theme park should be fine,,,the reason she was advising against it was the shadow she saw on the MRI, and had to do further testing and wanted to be safe than sorry. She said while it looked suspicious she felt it was going to be fine, but until absolutely sure...so, I am glad we did not take her comments lightly.

Well, heading off to collapse!

Pam

Pam I am so pleased for you all!! Hopefully once the medication is sorted you can all look forward to your 'postponed' trip - you deserve it!!:love:

That sounds so much more fun seeing the castle lit up from your room anyways.. maybe everything happens for a reason so you get the magical christmas moment:) Glad your daughter is alright!

well, 36 hours w/out a migraine! DD has gottten 2 nights of sleep in a row!:cool1: Go back tomorrow for follow ups, and then next week...but for this morning, al is well :goodvibes
On the down side, after the penalty hit by AT..looks like only DH can take her back to school :sad1: as DS starts high school 2 days before hand, sigh...it is gonna kill me to not be there. We have a credit w/SW but they do not fly into/out of Sarasota, and DH can't ake the 3+ hours tr to drive me back/forth or it is futile toward time needed moving DD in. She jusy got word that 2 of her room mates are not returning, so no idea who will be assigned to her apartment..my brother has offered to come and stay with DS, but DH says no, for me to stay home as it's his first days etc...I think he will be fine, ugghhhh!

Pam, as we discussed last night, the most important thing is you got news that this is nothing life threatening and you can move on from there with your trip, etc. And, as I told you, you and your family and especially DD remain in our prayers for a speedy resolution.

Oh don't I know it!!!!!!!!!! She actually has her eyes open today, and is functioning, even made herself eggs. I do believe those prayers are working wonders!:goodvibes ( just really hard after going thru this to see her off at the airport and not help her move in, this is her first time in an apartment)

Pam

Hi,
I just happened upon this thread and thought I would drop in my 2 cents. First, great news that there was nothing bad found in your daughters brain! I myself suffer from fairly bad migraines and when I first started them I was sent for an MRI and they found a cyst in my brain but the neuro. said that it had nothing to do with the migraines (go figure). Anyway, they began trying me on different things to prevent the migraines and to help when I do get one and after a good bit of trial and error I have a combo that seems to be working really well. I take Nortriptyline 25mg at night to help prevent and they seem to be working great and the only side effect I have noticed is that they make me sleepy which is why I take them just before bed. Then when I do get a migraine I take the generic for Fiorinal which stops the migraine pretty quick and I have noticed no side effects, once the migraine effects are gone I am able to continue with my day like nothing happened.
I also have been working on identifying my triggers so I can avoid them. With all this I am down to only a few migraines a month as opposed to once a day and like I said if I take the Fiorinal when I feel the migraine starting it is gone within about 30 minutes or sometimes never really even gets a hold if I take my pill soon enough.
They did have me on Imitrex but it was awful, it helped with the migraine but the side effects were so bad that I still had to go lay down until I felt better which kind of defeats the purpose of the medicine. They also had me on Topamax for a little bit but once it really got into my system I literally felt stupid, I couldn't think normally, it was so bad that my boss actually sent me home from work because she could tell there was something wrong with me so a very good thing that you both vetoed that pill.
My mom recently told me about something she saw on CNN about a plastic surgery procedure that was shown to help some people who suffer from migraines. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/08/04/migraine.surgery/index.html

I hope your daughter continues to feel better and everything goes fine with her back to school.

Just happened upon this thread, but are so glad your daughter is doing better. Have a wonderful trip at Christmas.

leash, thank you for posting and mentioning fioinol...I ahve beentrying to think of the name of that... friend of mine in college took that for pain and I could not remember it for hte life of me! I will write it down and Imitrex was prescribed but since she has not had a migraine for 2 days now , do not know how it is going to work out yet.
Everyones suggestions ar goiing into the medical folder titled Evil Migranes.

I'm so happy you got good news on your daughter! I just found this thread, and I'm happy Disney was willing to extend your PIN code!! That will make your holidays truly wonderful. I hope you have fun as you look forward to being together as a family at that time.
