Update on MN bus crash--van driver arrested

Apparently she is in the country illegally, doesn't have a driver's license and killed four kids .

Found out one of the kids that was seriously injured was a former classmate of DS15's. He lost his spleen, has a fractured vertebrae, broken leg and arm (I think) and a host of other problems and is missing his chance to wrestle to get into the state tournament.

You don't have to know english, in NC they give the drivers test in Spanish. Since all the signs are in Spanish (note my sarcasm) it makes perfect sense to me.

I feel so sorry for all the victims and their families. Knowing that she had been arrested previously and was not deported at that time would be hard to accept. If she is released on a diminished bail amount, it would be a horrible travesty of justice.

Yes there were two brothers that passed. And I heard on the news that the family had lost a daughter to illness not to long ago. How tragic. I cannot even imagine what these families are going though.

Nope! She had to have interpreter in court to translate her damn charges. I am just sick to my stomach over this whole thing. To think that she was stopped before and not deported.....those kids would still be alive.

It sounds like she had a fight with her boyfriend the day before and was kicked out of the trailer. My guess is that a combination of little sleep and worrying about herself and her relationship made her fly right through that stop sign without even seeing it. It was a terrible accident. I feel sorry for everyone, including a young woman who came to the US for a better life.

I'm sorry but how can you feel sorry for her???? She obviously knew she was here illegally, had already broken the law. How do you explain the "aliases"? She's a criminal and should have been deported long ago.

I, too, am tired of people making excuses for criminal behavior. Something needs to be done soon.

And while here she broke the law, not once but twice and killed four children. No sympathy coming from me for that one. But it has nothing to do with her illlegal status. I would be as disgusted with her as I am now regardless of her citizenship.

She is refusing to give investigators her real name and (according to information my DH said he read earlier) lied about how the accident occurred. Sorry, but I don't see her as a victim, she is a murderer in my book. I just imagine how devastated I would feel if one of those sweet children that died was mine, and that child was dead because she decided she had the right to drive without a license (and any training, I would bet), break the speed limit and ignore stop signs. If she really was sorry for the misery she caused, she would be honest about who she is and what really happened.

Just put yourself in her shoes for a second. She is here illegally, she's scared and she was just in a huge accident. OF COURSE she used aliases when she was here . OT COURSE she doesn't have a license. How can she get one? OF COURSE she lied about the accident. She's scared out of her mind.

Do you seriously believe that she ran into that bus on purpose? Because she's here illegally? Would a US citizen be roasted here on the DIS as a "murderer" under the same circumstances? I think not.

OF COURSE I feel plenty of pity for the kids who died and their families. Two of them just a few months older than my own DD and I do put myself in their shoes too. What a horrible thing to happen to them and their sweet children. I just can't paint her with the same broad brush as the rest of you can. "Murderer" and "Criminal".

It was an accident. A terrible accident.
