Hello, I'm Rajah's friend out in Phoenix, AZ. Some of may know that Rajah and her family are on the road, fleeing from Rita. Rajah has asked me to keep you all updated on how she is doing.
The first time, I heard from Rajah last night around 7:00 PM MST. Spent 2 hours talking; trying to help her pass the time while *driving* in traffic. Things were going well and they are still heading for Fredricksburg. To their knowledge, they still had reservations at a hotel, but if they got bumped/lost there reservation, they will be staying with friends in Blanco, TX.
She called me back around 10:30 this morning to let me know that they just got out of Houston. Took them 14 hours to do so; and they had estimated that it was going to take them another 6-8 hours to reach the hotel in Fredricksburg. Rajag had already contacted the hotel to re-confirm their reservations.
Between Rajah and her husband, Michael, it's been Rajah that has stayed calm through this so far. Part of Michael's stress is that his parents, who are in the Houston area, have had to stay behind because of occupational duties.
There kitties are alright, for the most part. Rajah has 4 with her and Michael has the other 2. They are huddled together, not wanting to eat or drink. Rajah and her mom have been giving the babies water through staws so they don't dehydrate. All in all, though, everyone is doing well.
