Unusual Transferring of points question

I have an unusual question regarding transferring of points...

Can I transfer '06 points to another member's '06 use year? My '05 use year begins 9/1

Any insight into what the transfer rules are?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you,
but I have a similar question about transferring points.
When you have points transferred to you do they hold the same "value" ie same UY and month or do they "merge" with your points?
The reason I'm asking: at some point I would like to rent out a GV but would need extra points to do it, but would be reserving at the 11 month mark....but if the points transferred in to me expired during the 11 month time?.... I don't know my brain is a jumble?? ??
And sorry chris1gill if it seems like I hijaked your thread, I just hope that the person who knows the answer to yours will know the answer to mine

The real answer lies at MS, but ... YES, you can transfer your '06 points into another member's '06 Use Year.

Transferred points are "supposed" to retain their original Use Year and home resort status. In reality, they will likely assume the same status as your own points. If you wish to have points transferred INTO your account in order to reserve a GV or other reservation where the 11 month priority would be an asset, you may need to ask/request/demand that MS manually track the transferred points if their status is required for the reservation you want (ie- if you own at BWV but want to reserve a GV at OKW and have OKW points transferred into your account). MS is able to manually handle transferred points if pushed- otherwise the points transferred may just retain the same status (UY and resort) as your own.

I made such a transfer earlier this year -- I transferred my BCV April 2006 use year points to another DISer's 2006 BCV use year account. We did a three way call with MS on the phone and it was processed quickly.

One thing more: You need to be in your 2005 use year in order to transfer points for 2006. Another member and I found, to our mutual dismay, that those with a fall use year, are still in 2004, so they may not transfer 2006 points until they reach their new use year. Also, you may not transfer OUT and IN to your account in the same use year.
