Unused Ticket Question

Our son was supposed to go on a church trip to WDW in January but had to back out at the last minute because of some school commitments. While we couldn't get our money back, we did get his unused 3-day Park Hopper pass. I put it aside and planned on using it on our upcoming trip in a few weeks, thinking that it would be good from 14 days from first use. But when I looked at it last night, I noticed that it actually had a " valid from/to" clause on the back. (The valid to date was January 25.)

Given that the ticket was never used, do you think there is any chance that Disney will honor it as valid three-day pass? Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to handle this?

I would suggest putting it in a scrapbook. The Automated Ticketing System will reject the ticket at any turnstile as "DATE EXPIRED" and it is printed 'NON-REFUNDABLE' on the ticket. This was a special, deep-discounted, ticket with restrictions that apply.

I was going to say they may allow you to pay the difference between what was paid for the ticket & the current gate price of a 3-day ticket.

But Cheshire works in ticketing, so if they say it is no good, you may just be out of luck. :(

You could write via snail mail, asking for special dispensation (don't use those exact words).

However the best case outcome is probably that they re-issue it as a non-upgradable 3 day pass in which case its effective value on a longer vacation could be just a few dollars when you figure in another ticket to finish that vacation. (It was non-upgradable to begin with.)

Hi all,

We just got back from the World a few days ago. Since I really didn't like the scrapbook answer (or at least had nothing to lose), I took the ticket with me on my trip. I stopped by Guest Relations in one of the parks (DHS on Wednesday 3/7/12 - 2:45 PM :) ) and asked what they thought the options were.

As pointed out in the conversation, this ticket was in fact a deeply discounted youth-group ticket and could not be traded for a ticket in like kind. However, there did give me the value of the ticket (~$100) towards the purchase of another ticket. So for an additional $9, I was able to get a single day PH with it. Since it hasn't been used, it will be valid on our next trip and will be sitting in my safe until then.

My takeaway: always visit Guest Relations with your "can you help" hat on. You should be able to work out a deal.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

This is what I would have expected them to do.
