And I thought you knew everything..... I know for one we plan to visit on Dec 8th or 9th... Hoping for not huge crowds.. I made the mistake of NOT going last weekend due to the parade taping.. it sounds like that was not ascrowded as expected or discussed on this board...

I still value your wise information and guidance with DL.

But But it WAS crazy busy...well, Friday before Veteran's wasn't too terrible.. but the taping over last weekend was "OMG get me out of here!" crazy crowds.

So Albort.. you're off the hook, it was busy!

My nephew the Marine.. wow that sounds impressive don't ya think? .. called me back. He's not allowed to use cell phones during the week.. ummm but why didn't he call on Sunday?? He had planned to take a taxi, told him he was crazy and offered to pick him up. He thought he was 40 miles away.. nope it's 80 miles away. It's 40 miles to San Diego from hsi base, maybe that's how he got confused. Oh and LAX is like 72 miles away.

Road trip on Thursday evening to pick him and his buddy up. Wish we had a slightly bigger vehicle, we could use this road trip with the kiddos to check out a few things before we pick him up. Alas, it would not work.. so a quick run to pick up and run back home (hour and a half.. ok not so quick).

He asked what there was to do in our town.. ummm nothing. Mall, second run movie theater, bowling.. I dunno.... what does an 18 yr old consider "fun"??
He said he can take a taxi somewhere-- guess military gets a discount. It was very confusing talking ot him, my kids are platying video games.. he had someone talking in the background and we just don't know each other that well.. but he will have a chance to be off base for the whole weekend.


OMG!! Do I have enough food for TWO marines!???!!

He told me I was the most independent, capable woman he knows, but that was no excuse for me to have to change my own headlight bulb on a freezing cold night. I'm thinking I could probably milk this for a really good Christmas present. I think it's at least worth 1 carat don't you?

Ohhh, definitely!

DH doesn't even like me to pump gas for my vehicle. Apparently his grandmother never touched a pump, his grandfather saw to that, and DH thinks that's the way it should be. He'd probably pass out if I had to change a tire! (Not that I can't, my Dad saw to that, but like Shawna I'm very slow at it.)

Not me! I'm at work, but it's unbelievably slow. I just got back from lunch with our tax accountant. I've spent most of the day reading Black Friday ads online!

As you can see I'm not at work tonight. Dh said, "Ok when are you going to stop this foolishness and just call and say I can't work" He thinks I flip out. Every year I try to get a part time job. Well, every year his hours get worse and so unpredictable. He doesnt want me to work. He said could you just stay at home and take care of these evil bosses! That would help me more than you earning $8.00 an hour and me worrying til you got home at night.

So I made the call....

Oh, I forgot that the first day was tonight! Are you OK with that? You sounded like you were looking forward to it, then got a bit panicky.

I know what you mean about your DH's hours being unpredictable, we're in the same boat. DH is fairly predictable except that now they want him in on Fridays. And time off is sort of hit and miss. He worked most of last weekend (but from home), and was supposed to take this week off to use up some vacation days. As it turned out he worked nearly a full day Monday, worked from home all day yesterday, and worked a half day today.

But the office is closed Thursday and Friday, so he at least should be able to take those days off... should being the operative word. I swear sometimes I want to take that electronic leash (Blackberry) and stomp on it 'til its insides pop out!

I feel good about my decision because I would have just stressed out over it if I was gone. The girl seemed really annoyed by my days I needed off too so I think she wasnt to upset I decided not to take the job.

Me too. Plus with the floors I really dont have any mula to get anything huge. Last year I was up at 3am got my trampoline and went back to bed.
