meh, it was a slow day for me... the last two hours, i made like $15. :| not even enough to cover my paycheck :P

Good morning, hyenas!
(I still have 6 more minutes to post for this to be true...)
Weather is cold and sunny; in other words, pretty nice for a late November day in Seattle! :thumbsup2

We had a nice time at my sister's; the turkey took longer than expected in Sis' roaster (her oven is too small to fit a turkey), and for some reason her oven didn't seem to cook/heat the extra stuffing and sweet potatoes, so once the turkey was done we still had to wait for that!

Wound up eating dinner about an hour later than expected, and then DH was giving me the bum's rush to get home. At first I was  , but then realized it was 7:45 already! I said I wanted a piece of pie, and he suggested we just grab some to take home, but I said no, we'd eat it there. Well, turns out everyone else was sooo full of dinner that they didn't want pie! So I was the only one that had any, and of course as soon as my plate was clean, DH was packing up the kids. :sad2:

My mom was encouraging us to take leftovers, but DH was so eager to get on the road that we declined; now, of course, I'm craving turkey and stuffing and all the other goodies...

I've never had a sweet potato casserole! Recipe, please? I wonder if my family would like it. My mom always cuts the potato into big fat slabs, and spreads them with butter and brown sugar and I don't know what else. I've always loved them. I found a recipe online for that recently and tried it out, and it tasted sorta like my mom's but not as sweet. DH and the boys did NOT like it. So I vowed to keep looking for a good recipe!

Anybody besides Sam gonna brave Black Friday? I thought about it, but really didn't find much in the ads, like one thing at Store X, one other than at Store Y, so I passed. Maybe if stores are open late tonight I'll sneak out...

DH is out for lunch with his dad at our favorite restaurant, and is going to bring back a lunch for me. OMG, my stomach is grumbling in anticipation! :yay:

I'd better go feed the boys and get the little one down for nap. See ya later!

I went to walmart, and got all the kids christmas presents! Well...... almost all. I have a few more things to get, But not to much!:thumbsup2 HOWEVER... I didnt get out to bed til 8:30, and we didnt get to walmart til 10:30..

I survived Black Friday!!! We decided to go to Westfield Shoppingtown in Vancouver, instead of the less busy Longview. It was crowded, but fun.

JC Penney had really good deals, but LONG lines. However, I was walking around downstairs and found a temporary cash register set up back in the petites section with only 1 person in line!:woohoo: Got quit a bit of stuff there. Good pajama and electronics sales.

Cinnabon as usual had a wonderful breakfast.:rolleyes1

Sears had awesome deals on tools! Got DD a punching bag to work out with and DS a 3 in 1 table (pool, air hockey, foosball). Both of those items were $100 off!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Big 5 Sporting Goods also had some awesome deals. I got myself a pair of tennis shoes for $12 and a new walking pedometer that doesn't have to be clipped on, it fits in your pocket and is real thin.

Then we left the mall and went to Target & Kohl's. Got a few things at Target, not a whole lot of great deals. But Kohl's was awesome. They were the last store we were at around noon, but they had all of the early bird items in stock! I got a portable DVD player for the kids. It was $79, but has a $30 rebate on it! They also had people stationed all over the store to help people find things!

I could have bought more things, but I had DS with me. DD & two friends also. So it kind of slowed me down. But I pretty much have the kids xmas presents all done. Just need to fill in a few more other misc. relatives and I'm done. I'm thinking maybe on Sunday I'll finish my shopping.

So Jake wakes up and starts flipping through the ads that were sitting on the couch. I decided nothing that important this year to go out to get so we slept in. He drags me into the closet and shows me the sterling silver Tinkerbell pendant and earrings that he wants to get Morgan for Christmas. He's 4!!! OMG I couldnt believe it. I said did she tell you to look for her a present. He said no he just thought Morgan would know that he loved her if he got her this. I almost cried but also did the obligatory she already knows you love her speech. Anyway, I call my mom and brother to see if I could drop just Morgan off at their house so Jake and I could go shopping. We get to Mervyns at 8:30 and its gone. :sad1: He looked so broken hearted. He had one little tear coming down his cheek but he wasnt really crying. The lady said they sold out by 4:15 am since it was such a good deal. I was afraid of that but its hard explaining it MIGHT be sold out to a 4 year old. You just have to go check. The lady said they might be in stock later but not at that price but maybe close so we will check back again. Bless his little heart he really wants That set for her.

We then picked up Morgan and headed to Michaels to buy more lights.

I just blew my wad on Bath and Body works.com though. Wallflowers were $5.00 each all day online and until noon in the stores. Well the shipping was $5.95 all day too so I figured that sounded GREAT just to have them ship the things to me rather than fight the crowds. I also found a little guitar for Jake online that was sold out in the stores. This is the first year I have ordered anything online on black friday. Usually I'm out in the crowds at 3:30am freezing my tail off

Speaking of freezing I need a fireplace and to find some warm clothes. Its actually going to be 70 tomorrow. BRRRRRRRRR

:rotfl2: Alison I'm laughing because Dh followed your schedule partially. He got the deals at Sears but then veered to Home Depot and at Big 5 he bought a pair of $12.00 sneakers a pair of $15.00 sneakers and he says his splurge was a pair of $19.00 sneakers. He said he had never had that fancy of a tennis shoe before. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Darn farm boy.

for all of you people who live in the cold I have a question. Do towel warmers really work? Or does it just warm the small part of the towel touching the bar? I've decided if I move anywhere cold I need towel warmers and radiant heat in my floors. Oh yeah and 16 fireplaces and the top of the line heater. Ok just put a bubble around my house to keep the cold away!

wow! i live in utah which is cold and i have never heard of or seen a towel warmer , it is 67 degree's right now in my house. and i have my pj's on my sweatshirt and a big fluffy robe and i am still freezing... our pilot light keeps blowing out we gotta have some one check it out....:confused3

hmm, never tried the towel warmers. When I was growing up we had old fashioned radiators, I left my towel on the radiator while showering.. ahhh toasty :goodvibes

The radiator in the living room always had wet mittens and liners from our boots strewn acoss the top... hoping to dry them out before we headed outdoors again.

In hospitals, the linen warmer is a small cabinet. If it's an older wing, you can see the gas flames in the grates below the linens. I always thought that was weird.. fire hazards and all.. but those kind are always more toasty than the modern cabinets.

Today I had a quick run into DL.. busy packed busy busy!.. while my guys and the Marines went to Nickel Nickel for video games. The we went together to Block at Orange, putzed around and shopped a tiny bit.

Got a shirt at Old Navy (full price GASP!!!) as I had totally wrecked the shirt I was wearing with dripping melting Dole Whips. C

ouldn't send Marines away from DL area without having a Dole Whip and a churro!! It would be Un-American :scared: to not offer these goodies to tempt them to visit DL on their own some day. :rotfl2: Yep, trying to convert them into DL freaks. :thumbsup2

They told me "well, I already went to WDW.. it's the same thing" :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I turned to them , and with a very serious tone of voice, told them "It's not the same!" :snooty:

Too much turkey?? all of you are sleeping right???

Staley.. some sad news for you .. Babe the Blue Ox lost his head
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071124...ess_blue_ox;_ylt=Ar2L91FTCgJfbXE2U57WZWEZ.3QA

KLAMATH, Calif. - Babe the Blue Ox has lost his head. Ax-wielding Paul Bunyan is not a suspect. The head fell off the 35-foot-tall statue of giant lumberjack Bunyan's mythical sidekick Tuesday, landing snout down on the pavement in the northern California town of Klamath.

Jeff LaForest, manager of the gift shop where the statue stands, says water was seeping inside the statue. That weakened the wood inside the structure and caused the collapse.

LaForest said he will repair Babe as soon as possible. In the meantime, he plans to use a diminutive stuffed animal head as a placeholder in time for the town's annual Christmas light show.

"It's kind of sad isn't it?" LaForest said

Perhaps the weight of his giant cajones played intot hte cause of his beheading? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Hey Hyenas and Menfolk!!

I've been missing because of a broken computer!! It's in the shop right now getting fixed. Hopefully by Monday I'll have it back!! (I'm on my DD's computer right now.)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I know we did, but boy was I tired after all was done. No matter how much one does ahead of time, it still is alot of work.

I'm so far behind in reading, and I will never catch up, but I was wondering if your MIL came Bernice??

Also wondering how Christina's trip went???

If any cares.......I'm giving up my ressies at the PP this coming weekend. They were the AP rates concierge level for $169.00 a night. We still get to go on the 13th-16th. I made 2 ressies just in case this happened.

I hope to talk to you soon!

I have no idea. It was 28 degrees Friday morning and I was wearing capris, flip flops and a t-shirt! And it felt good. If you ever move to where it's cooler Shawna just wait until you hit menopause, then it won't be a problem at all!:lmao:

Sometimes if one of the kids is taking a shower I will grab a warm towel out of the dryer and give to them, but that's about it.

I love the story about your son! It's the moments like that make you feel like you are doing a good job raising your kids.

So today I decided to tear apart my kitchen, clean out all the cabinets and rearrange it in a better flow. Not to mention get rid of a bunch of excess junk! My nephew just moved out on his own and needs kitchen stuff, so I'll be taking a bunch over to him.

I also decided to give up the garage. We have a huge garage and I park my behemouth SUV in there, but now that I am no longer cold, I can park out in the driveway. We need to finish putting insulation in the ceiling, throw some carpet on the floor and turn it into a rec/exercise room. So I have lots to do the next few weeks. We want to have it all done in time for xmas so we can put the new punching bag and pool table/air hockey/ping pong table in it.:thumbsup2 We are going to get a ladder up into the attic, put the insulation down and then cover it with plywood, so we can throw a bunch of stuff up there.

Found a couple of lost "treasures" when cleaning out the kitchen.

First I found "Jose No Neck". He's my cookie jar that my MIL made for me back when I was into Southwestern decorating. He's a Hispanic guy that has no neck, just a face and a shawl and the lid is a sombrero. He's so cool, I forgot I had him. I changed my kitchen to Tuscan a few years ago. But I brought him out and filled him with snacks!

Also found the Easy Bake Oven cake tins. We thought they were lost a couple of years ago. DD & DS love baking little cakes. I think my cleaning lady must have not known what to do with them and they were way in a top shelf in the back. Guess I have a few cakes to look forward to in the coming weeks!:lmao:

Hello!!! Shame about Babe. Good thing his big blue balls didnt fall off!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Meanwhile... I went shopping today. I know!!! BY MYSELF!!! Double  I went to Target this morning... Yesterday, after our trip to walmart, we pretty much ironed out what the plan was going to be for the kids Christmas presents. So today, dh woke up around 6, and started cleaning the house...:cloud9:  Kitchen, bathroom, living room.. ALL of it!!! Then he woke me up at 7:30, and sent me to target, to get more cleaning whatnots.. So Im cruising through the toy area, and saw a bunch of the stuff we were going to get for the kids. So... ANOTHER $250. later, I finally left!:lmao:

Oh, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE STALEY HOUSE!!!!! Mikalah is now sleeping in her own bed, in her bro-bros room!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Dh and I got to sleep ALONE... :cloud9:  :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

ACK!!!! I know what Im getting for CHRISTMAS!!!! Dh didnt clear the browser, and I was looking for something else.. and I SAW IT. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: he is so smart!:thumbsup2

 NO PEEKING!!! Guess you will have to put on a big show to be super suprised at Christmas :thumbsup2

Finally caved and pony upped the bucks for a grill. It's happily sititng on my patio now. Apparently it was so awesome that something had to come by and vist it :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I saw something run across the corner of the patio.. thought it was a mouse, went to go look by the grill. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!! It wasn't a mouse!

It was a lizard, 8 inches long.. grey and black markings. Creeped me out! DS and DH scrambled out to the patio to look. DS 11 went to get camera but it took off before he had a chance to get a pic.

About 15 miunutes later I saw it slither across the patio again.. AHHHHHHHHH!

Where is the cat when I need her? Sleeping under the bed.. :sad2: bad cat.

Tinkermell....
My MIL and BIL were up during Veteran's weekend, it was a very nice visit. My MIL had the time of her life at DL and at our local Mexican grocery store.. she bought us a feast of her fave foods. YUM!

This weekend I have hosted my nephew and his buddy. They are Marines based at Camp Pendleton for their School of Infantry training. We offered them our car.. but told us they can't drive now since they are "students". Many rules to follow even on liberty.

They offered to make food for us today.. we haven't done much grilling before, I'm letting the pro from Texas (nephew's friend) take over the first run of the grill :goodvibes
And my nephew is making fettucine alfredo.

YEAH!!!!! That's awesome!!!
