I take grumpy's post as a good sign that his home is still intact, hope the fire keeps away!

The boys had modified PE today, they walked instead of running due to air quality concerns. N had lunch inside.

Hubby's school was on "lock down" mode for second lunch, there were 3 fights that broke out during that lunch hour on Friday. They arrested 8 students involved in the fight (standard procedure for very bad fights).
Found out the fight was related to race :sad1: ..

Wind is dying off again, not as dusty during my evening walk. I could see grey particulate in the air over the mountains.. towards San Bernardino.

Well, Cable T.V. came back on after re-boot. How about this? Fire burned several miles to the north, jumped I-15 and is continuing to burn towad the Ocean, Del Mar is in evac mode.

Rancho Bernado (north of me) has lost a large number of homes! MCAS Miramar (south of me) has launched their aircraft to find safe haven at other air stations in and out of California.

The area north and east of the MCAS Miramar is now evac! so basically I am surronded by fire to the north and east of me, and evac areas to the west and south :woohoo:

at last count, San Diego county has more than 265 thousand people being evacuated from their homes. and my house smells like I have a campfire in the living room.

having a good day!

you guys?.........:wizard:

Hi Grumpy! Finally talked to my Dad. Everything is OK, and it sounds like my uncles house is not in danger. Thank goodness, as I found out he is in Sodona, AZ right now. I guess he has been in touch with his nieghbor about everything.
So are you feeling alright? I mean about being surrounded by the fires? That is scary if you ask me!

I like your enthusiasm.. gee I'm surrounded by fire, it's a good day!

Using Dizzy trademark here....

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

ok, so if you do end up evac .. where the heck do you go???:confused3

Hubby and I had a talk about that today.. what we would take (important papers, insurance forms, meds, cat, laptop, camera and our computer... plus food and clothing), how to contact family, and then hubby asked "where would we go?"

ummmm good question???

We have no family here, I do have a cousin in LA. I don't really know her very well to launch cat, boys and crabby husband.

I'm O.K. DW is nervous but won't admit it. Dogs are jumpy and whiney because they don't like the smoke/ash smell.

Glad your family is o.k. and his house is out of danger!, Not much excitement. Just watching t.v and then computer feed for evac orders, etc. we packed our evac kit yesterday and it is in the garage. I can load it in our SUV and be on the road with the pups, and cat (and DW) in about 15 mins. (took less planning that our trip to WDW!!)

Eek... My sister lives right in front of Little Mountain, and she said it has been burning all day. They could see it from her dh's hospital bed, and it was stressing him all out. Just what you need after a heart attack, right? :sad2: Oh well... she said that it burned on their side during the day, and has moved over to the other side on the mountain now. So they are in the clear. :thumbsup2

Hi Bernice! Welcome to Southern California! The land of autumn fires. :scared1: I don't know if you remember or not but I was born and raised in Redlands. And my Sister lived in Riverside until 2 years ago. Anyways, I remember all too well the fires in the fall. I can remember going to football games at the University of Redlands, (which you should visit someday, along with Redlands. Very neat town with ALOT of old buildings and a ton of old Victorian homes by the way.) We would be sitting in the grandstands and could see the fires burning in the hills and mountains. And that was 30+ years ago. :rolleyes1 It creeped me out then!
Now to a lighter subject. You mentioned visiting Riverside. You need to go to old town Riverside and go to the Mission Inn. Especially during the holidays. They decorate it really cool, and it is so worth a trip to see it.

And if you do go to Redlands, drive up Cajon to Highland Ave. Then drive around to see all of the homes, and then drive up Sunset Drive. Kind of like the 17 mile drive in Carmel!!! The homes are amazing!! In the summer and fair weather Redlands has a beautiful outside Bowl that does concerts and plays.

OK so much for my tour guide for the night! :upsidedow

hey guys!

Garcia, they have those evac drills and questions you were asking in northern AZ every fire season. They list off the must have things to take in case of a fire evac which happens all too often. :sad1: We've talked about it too and I have decided I need a Uhaul on standby just to fit my pictures and home videos in!:rotfl:

So I'm beat tonight and had more drama at the studio.

Morgan and her friend are very well behaved most of the time. They always pay attention and are polite. some of the girls run around like idiots there and always disrupt the class. Anyway, tonight I was out talking with the friends mom about other stuff and the class let out. Well Morgan and her friend got excited after being couped up in 3 hours of structured dance and started playing hide and seek in the break and changing area back by the bathrooms. I guess they were squealing like little girls do so it was probably loud but the manager of the front desk ran back there and sat them on the floor and lectured/yelled at them how bad they were and they misbehaved terribly etc etc. OK This is where I walked back and found them. The friends older sister had gone back to get them for us and she got busted to even though she was doing nothing wrong. She was crying hysterically (she's 9) and the younger 2 looked frightened. Now this all happened within about 3 minutes so it wasnt like they were forever.

I realize that they should not have been playing and being loud but its not like they do this all the time or even ONCE before. Then for her to have the nerve to scare them pissed me off. She knew we were right outside she should have come and talked to us about it. Morgan cried all the way home.

Am I wrong to be upset about this?

My brother has a house in the new part of Chula Vista but it sounds like the fire is north of that right???

Bernice I just noticed your new siggie. How appri-po!! (I know that is not how yu spell it I'm sure.) Just sound it out and you will do fine. :rotfl2:

Megan, I'm trying to remember............your sis lives in Riverside?? How is her DH doing, besides stressing about the fires?

We have no family here, I do have a cousin in LA. I don't really know her very well to launch cat, boys and crabby husband.

I try not to get excited, if you look calm, you are!!:woohoo: After 35 years of government service I have learned to just take it in stride. a little pre-planning on the evac stuff is easy. the first three folders in the file cabinet in my home office are all insurance papers: Health, house, car/ DW and I (and pets) health/shot/birth certs, passports, etc. papers. (Had DW chipped:lmao: )

We have digital photos of every room in the house, every piece of furnature, every t.v., tool, etc. everytime we buy a new applince, the first thing I do is take a digital photo of it, the first one is with the daily newspaper to show the date, and pictures of model number/serial number etc. I then scan the receipt into a file on my computer! I have scanned all our papers, documents, my entire 35 years of government paperwork, family photos, etc. etc. into PDF/jpg documents that are burned to two DVD plus backed up on my computer. My computer is a Shuttle brand (micro) which I can unplug and put in a briefcase size bag, and go. plus all files are backed up on laptop that is already in evac kit.

If we had to evac, I would probably go to the Qualcom Stadium. They are set up with cots, sleeping bags, etc.

It sounds like a lot of work, be in reality, it only takes a few minutes to get the stuff together. the scanning and stuff only takes a few minutes of prep, then its done!!

Everything else is covered by insurance! AS long as DW and I have dogs and cat we are good to go!

Me thinks your are right, and you need to get them out of there. I also think you need to talk to the owner about the manager. I can understand during class that they need to be quiet, but during break?? Especially for little girls. All she needed to do, was to ask them to be more quiet. She didn't need to come unglued at them. Poor things! :sad2:

Tour guide away, I learn something new about the area all the time. I noticed a vidoe snippet on the online version of the local paper, they are jsut starting to put up lights on the Mission Inn.
We drove by that area a month ago (while lost, trying to find our way home without using the highway), I made hubby take a detour to drive by the Mission, but he was irritable and didn't want to stop. So we ooooed and awwwed as we drove past.

Speaking of decorating... This is the first time we have had a ground level apartment and had a sizeable patio. I hope to decorate for each of the seasons. Other residents in our complex have some cute Halloween decor already.. pumpkins, silk leaves, witches, cobwebs. Would love to have an outdoor tree and lights at Christmas.
My patio is bare, dusty right now, but bare. I want a grill, table, chairs, or maybe a rocking bench.. something!! But I only have so much money andrefuse to pay full price for anything. I keep checking craigslist to find the "just right" items. :goodvibes

Bernice I just noticed your new siggie. How appri-po!! (I know that is not how yu spell it I'm sure.) Just sound it out and you will do fine. :rotfl2:

She lives in San Bernardino, and he is doing super!:thumbsup2 He is out of CCU, and in a regular room, and will most likely go home in a few days. :yay:

Pixie made it for me (of course!), I have no talent for photoshop. She made it due to my habit of posting pumpkin pictures when I sign off for the night.

Holy Mackeral you are prepared. Me thinks I need to do some of this stuff. I have some stuff in our safe, but not like you do with all of the pictures of everything. You are too organized! :lmao: I can't even repeat what you did on the computer! :rotfl2: :lmao:  Let alone do it! :lmao: I'm lucky to turn it on and look things up! Good grief...my DH can't even turn on the computer. Although the other day, he finally said I need to learn how to use the internet. WOW!
