Tragedy struck at our house yesterday!

Yep, DD's boyfriend broke up with her. It was not a surprise to DH & I, we had been predicting it for the last few weeks.
He used all sorts of excuses, but we know the real reason. He was looking for a ditzy girlfriend that would just swoon over him and be arm candy. DD apparently has a life and he couldn't handle that! He was having a problem with the fact that she wouldn't dump her friends and spend every waking moment with him. Plus she told him that her friends, school work and racing were very important to her also. She didn't want to stay out late on Saturday nights because she had to get up early & race on Sundays. I think the final straw was Thursday when he called and DH told him to call back because here & I were doing an exercise/workout video. Then she spent the night with some of her girlfriends on Friday night. I took her & her best friend to the mall early Saturday. She did spend Sat. afternoon/evening with him. But she told him she wanted to be home early Sat. night so she could get ready for the race. Sunday of course was the race and she was tired afterwards and went to bed around 7:30 or so.
Anyway I'm very proud of her. I always tried to raise her to be an independent person and not let anyone tell her how to live her life. I know now that she will always be true to herself and never let a man push her around. (Not that he was mean or anything).
Anyway, she woke up this morning with puffy eyes because she was crying last night. I really do feel for her. But I guess it's just one of those lessons in life that you have to go through. Anyway, I had gotten her a nice pair of Sherpa fuzzy warm clog/slippers for Xmas. So I gave her them this morning. Nothing mends a broken heart better than a pair of new shoes!
