Come back Alison...step away from the budget board!!!

Bernice, I am so sorry you had to go through this already, when you have barely settled in. It must have been so scary for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you called 911, and I hope Eloy is getting the best of care. That is his name right???? I also hope your sons are OK too. Take care, and I will put Eloy, you, and boys into my prayers.
Please keep us informed. :grouphug:

Hi Dizzy and Alison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's up Hyenas???? We just got home from lunch at DS and DIL's house. Had BBQ terriaki chicken sandwiches and the works. I brought stuff to make homemade banana ice-cream with my brand new ice-cream maker. It turned out yummy!!!!!!!!!!!! We topped it with toasted almonds, chocolate syrup, and caramel. My mom also brought apricot cobbler. The best of the best. Yummers! Now DH is snoring in his chair, Kaitlyn watching TV, and I'm catching up on the DIS.
Was reading on Mouseplanets forum, about a newspaper article in LA, stating Disney applying for building permits to start the DVC villas. I know this has been rumored for awhile, so we'll see. Wouldn't it be fun to have the points to always stay at the GC??? Of course you do pay through the nose for it. :rolleyes1  Still one can dream. Yah..........it's the "Year of a Million Dreams!" Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight?????:cool1:

Hi Tinkermell & Dizzy! Sorry I disappeared Dizzy. The internet kept kicking me off. I'm starting to figure out that while the satellite internet is a lot quicker than dial up, it's not super reliable. Most of the time when it drops the signal it comes back in a minute or two, but sometimes it takes a while.

DH is in the garage changing oil on his trucks, DS is riding motorcycles at his cousins house, DD, boyfriend, and some other friends went to the movies. I spent this morning cleaning out & putting some new shelving in my closet and doing laundry. We went school clothes shopping yesterday.

I'm going to go peruse the budget board. PM me if anyone shows up. I can just see the threads now:

I only have $1.99 to spend on our Disney trip. How can I feed all 5 family members for 7 days on that amount?

1st reply - I never stay at a hotel while traveling to Disney. We always check out the nearest women's shelter. The kids and I stay and have a lovely time in our new room. 3 square meals are provided each day!:thumbsup2

2nd reply - I recommend you take your mother in law. You might hate her, but she has money!:lmao:

3rd reply - Now I know this might not be everybody's cup of tea. But we just walk up and sit down at a counter service table right after another family leaves. Do you realize how big those meals are? Why at least 2-3 families can eat just 5 burger baskets! Total cost $0!

All of you are so kind, thanks for the encouraging words.

Here's the deal.. called the nurse back at 11:30 since she didn't call me (ahe admitted she forgot to call). The docs wanted to admit him, ok fine I can handle that.. been there done that many times thru our married life.

She then calls back an hour later.. "You're husband is a nice man but he just doesn't want to stay."
They arranged transportation and now he's home AMA (Against Medical Advice)!

I told him what happened, he was foggy on the details. He doesn't remember any of the events that landed him in the hospital. He also said that he thinks he was sleeping in the emergency room when they tried to put in an IV and he woke up , combative. He vaguely remembers 6 people holding him down to get teh IV in and then they gave him Ativan ( in his dialysis arm-- grrrr-- that's a no-no as any sticks/blood pressure readings can damage the access site). I asked if he got psychotic after the Ativan (something he has done before, Ativan is not a good choice for his anxiety) .. he thinks he slept after that.

He's sleepy but coherent.
And yes, they think he had a seizure.

I read that withdrawal symptoms from one of his meds can cause seizures.. he had been out of that med for several days. AND rebound hypertension can result if you miss too many doses of one of his blood pressure meds.. also a med he has not had for several days.

First thing he does when coming home?? Drives to the pharmacy to reorder meds :sad2: :sad2: I went with and kept an eye on him.

He contemplated going back to the hospital, for now decided he would rather go to work on Monday. :guilty:
Tonight he will take a smaller dose of his Ambien, after telling him the horror stories of other people's side effects (and some of those he has as well) it's time to reconsider using the med. Can't do itcold turkey, causes withdrawal.

Didn't notice until later today, he had been up and in the kitchen before the events in the bathroom. Found root beer spilled everywhere .. stove top, floor, inside the fridge. Had "N" check and make sure the car was still in the lot (People on Ambien have been known to drive in their sleep). whew.. it was still there.

My boys deal with Eloy's illnesses and hospitalizations. J pointed out how stressed DH had been lately, which would lead to more problems with the "Ambien trance". And N joked that we need to tie bells to him, so we can know when he gets up !!!

Ok, that's my novel of typing for the day.

Hey There!!! I definitely feel your internet problems - my borrowed connection is anything but reliable, I could not connect at all yesterday!!! :sad1:

I am going to throw some dinner in the oven though, so I will be back in a few...

I think I better check out this board. :lmao:
DH and DD are now watching the Travel Channel, and it's the show where the guy goes around the world trying anything. Today he just tried cow skin soup!!!!!!!!! :scared1: UHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Bluh, Blah, Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Oh and pig's and chicken feet. I can't help but think, there's not much to chicken feet. Maybe the people from the budget board can save money by eating cow skin soup and chicken feet!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Bernice,

I sure hope he's ok. Just be sure to keep a close eye on him tonight. (But I'm sure you probably won't sleep at all). It's so scary when something like that happens.

Hi Melody! Somehow I'm betting someone over there has the recipe for those.:scared1: So how was your weekend?

WOW!! Bernice, you have had quite a loooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggggggg day. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
Sounds like alot of things could have led up to the seizure. Geesh............how scary. :scared1:
Please Eloy...get well real soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:

He's taking a nap right now.. I get up and check on him every few minutes. Twitching toes, normal for him as he has restless leg syndrome,.. one of the many side effects of dialysis .. don't you want dialysis too?? :rolleyes1

I'm exhuasted. All of this happend at 4:45 am, too stressed to go back to bed.. waiting for someone to call me back.

Now I want a landline phone installed, we had been putting off a decision.. wanting to rely on cells. But now I see how much easier it would be with a real phone in this area.

The 911 operator was very quick about finding the local police and connecting me thru when I used the cell phone this morning. But the nurse at the hospital had to search for a phone to call long distance.

Still want to keep our MN cell numbers since we have had no contact with MIL. If we change them.. not sure how we will find her or any of his family ..:sad1:

I think my MIL use to make soup from chicken feet. I read that it's suppose to be good that way.

They tried to make me eat beef tongue at MIL's house.. shudder... hubby tells me it tastes really good, but I can still see it being.....

well..

a tongue

ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

I had friends from the south that made us greens, ham hocks, and other not too familiar to my midwestern tastebud treats. Interesting.. still not my thing.

How about getting a landline with just local service. You can save a lot of money by not having long distance access. You can get a phone calling card if you need to call long distance. You can get fairly cheap basis local phone service usually. Then you could afford to keep the cell phones.

Glad he's resting now and it sounds like everything is ok.

I'll try any type of food, at least once. There are definately some weird foods out there.

I picked up my sister Wednesday from the airport, she is here to pick up her son for a couple of weeks. The borrowed my car and went down to Southern Oregon to visit some friends (she used to live down there). She was supposed to come home yesterday, but got a migrane, so stayed one more day. She's on her way here, just called on her cell phone and is about 30 minutes away. She's been stuck in traffic jams due to wrecks all afternoon long! I have to get up early in the morning to take her to the airport, their flight leaves at 6am!:scared1: So guess I'm going to bed early tonight.

Bernice, You better check out the rates before keeping your MN cell lines. Your roaming charges for calls you are making in California between you and DH, might knock you off of your feet. :upsidedow :sad2:

:scared1:

Would it be easier for her to find a hotel near the airport? Not sure how busy is your local airport (or how far away), I know for LAX I NEED the recommended two hours in order to get thru security. MSP I coud get by with less than an hour if it was a non busy time... but that early on a Monday?? Could mean lots of business people making their way to meetings.:sad2:

hmmm 3 am wake up call???

You'll try anything once??????? How about this one.................. he just tried a heart from a frog that was still beating. Yes you heard me right!!!! They took it out of an alive frog, and then he immediately ate it while it was still beating!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: I'm sick!!!!!!!!

They are shared minutes, no extras for roaming if we call to each other's cell.
