Unsure on Addon Contract

So the lower than expected VGF2 prices have thrown me for a loop. We like MK resort split stays and have been considering adding 50-75 points at a monorail resort. We own at Riviera direct so while we already have our blue card any resale we buy we can’t use at our primary resort. Not a deal breaker since 7mo window at Riviera doesn’t seem great anyway but it’s a consideration. Our preferred monorail resort is Poly but we have never stayed at VGF. We were leaning towards either buying Poly resale or since Poly has a reasonable 7 mo window we were considering adding on at DLT for the occasional West coast tripand SAP for WDW. For Poly resale since it’s a small contract we would be paying a premium and we have a less common use year to match. DLT studios not sleeping 5 puts a wrench in the works since we would need a 1 bedroom. Now that VGF is decently priced direct it has been thrown into the ring. We like the walkway option and the studios sleep five. The lack of kitchenette in the resort studios isn’t a deal killer but I don’t love it. I was disappointed in the bathroom as well. It’s nice but I think regular studio bathroom is superior.

Considering we are a family of 5, buying a small contract and would not travel to DL that often what would you choose? VGF direct, DLT direct or Poly resale?

Since there are significantly more rooms at the planned DLT than VGC do you think it would be impossible to book at 7mo?

I should add that this will be our only addon contract. I don’t think I will be able to convince my husband to buy more.

I would add on at BLT resale since you are a family of five to get the one bedrooms with the 2 bathrooms. I know the studios don’t sleep 5 there but as the kids get older that extra bathroom makes a huge difference. My kids are all teens now and that extra space is needed vs cramming into a studio. With the amount of studios at VGF2 I don’t this it’s going to be as difficult to book there at 7 months. The 1bedroom std view at BLT is a great deal.

Exactly! These incentives are throwing me for a loop as well. I’m a poly owner so I never contemplated another monorail resort.. But the VGF2 incentives seem too good to pass up… but Riviera has great incentives too for Epcot/HS access, but the restrictions make me wary… I keep going back and forth. In your case since you already own Riviera, I would seriously consider VGF at current prices. I love poly but those VGF prices are good! Good luck!!

I wouldn’t add on a 50-75 point contract at all. Closing and higher price per point flips the math, unless you plan to hold this a long time.

I don’t think it will be hard to rent points for VGF2 to stay a night or two. VGF2 really improves the options for O14 points. You don’t need to own points to take advantage of this.

I agree with this. Owning at VGF becomes more important if you require 1 or 2 bedrooms as these will likely be harder to get once Big Pine Key inventory opens up. Studios should be easier to get at the 7 month mark compared to the past with 200 new studios hitting inventory.

But I will also add that with the current pricing on VGF, no resale restrictions, 2064 deed… VGF points make a strong case for SAP. This unique opportunity (pricing) likely changes after March 30th… but I anticipate VGF having some of the best/lowest dues moving forward.

We unfortunately need 50-75 points somewhere as we do not have enough points for the vacations we want to do. When we originally bought my husband was not really onboard 100% so we bought low to ease into it and limit our commitment in case he didn't like it with the understanding that if it was going well we would add-on somewhere. Now to my shock HE was actually the one that said so do you think we should get VGF points as our add-on.

We have no intention of selling so anything we get will be held unless a catastrophic life event occurs but I do understand we cost ourselves more money this way. We have a Sept UY and availability seems very limited resale wise. VGF seems like the best option if we go direct and the gap between MK resale and VGF direct for small contracts is small enough that it probably makes sense to get the unrestricted points. I am having a hard time letting go of Poly though. We like BLT especially for the walkway and it is due for a full refurb soon which is a plus (hoping for those Murphy beds!) but having to get a more expensive one bedroom because the studios only sleep four is a bit problematic for us.

Maybe an option is to buy a larger amount VGF points with the great incentives and sell your RIV points in a few months.

Depending on when you bought, this might not be so bad mathematically. I know long term, I'd rather be holding VGF than RIV. This would give you a chance to split into 3 x 75 point contracts, or whatever works for your family.

Or, if the Blue Card isn't looking too shiny anymore, I think now is the time to get a deal on a big Poly resale contract. Maybe buy one of those and sell the RIV.

DL has so many cash options. I wouldn't be making a purchase of this size worried about a few nights in a hotel across the country.
