I wish Disney would work with a local charity to donate unopened new food items that are left behind by DVCrs.
Every time we use DVC we leave behind excess food items.
There must be a food pantry in the area that would love to have donations.
I wonder how many people actually have leftover food. We drive so whatever is leftover, we take with us.I was suggesting that perhaps they could work with a local food pantry. And have them come and pick up accumulated canned and packaged goods.
I wi do hat I always do and leave for the housekeepers.
We fly to WDW & we usually have some leftovers that we can't pack - usually some drinks.I wonder how many people actually have leftover food.
They are if it is unopened. Just leave it in the room.We fly to WDW & we usually have some leftovers that we can't pack - usually some drinks.
It kills me to waste food.
Not sure about this, but I believe the housekeepers aren't allowed to take the leftovers.
That would require a daily pick up from each resort by the food pantry. Disney doesn't have room to store extras.I was suggesting that perhaps they could work with a local food pantry. And have them come and pick up accumulated canned and packaged goods.

There is a Facebook group called DVC Leftovers. People post items they have on checkout day.
Mousekeeping told me they happily accept all unopened drinks, even beer.![]()
I just watched some videos from a former Mousekeeper, and she mentioned they weren't allowed to take alcohol. Maybe because she wasn't old enough, but I'm not sure. I think the videos were posted on the Disney resort board.
I was thinking about this this morning, and I think one of the main reasons Disney probably wouldn't ever do this is because it would ruin the 'show'. The last thing Disney wants you thinking about in their perfect magical kingdom is that some people don't even have enough food to eat that day. Real world problems don't exist in disney. A donation box would ruin that illusion.
Perhaps, I'm just going by what I was told...will still will leave, what happens at disney stays at disney. Have a feeling it doesn't go to waste lol.
