UnOfficial March 2012 Trip Planners Tread-DIS Meet 3/8 Info Pg 1

Having a very snowy day here in Connecticut. It snowed a little Thursday night but today is suppose to give us 5-6 inches most since our Oct Blizzard. It can snow all it wants this month and next as long as it doen't snow and delay my flights in March(fingers crossed) not sure what I will do. :confused3
I did buy trip insurance for the first time ever just in case.

Honestly I like traveling by bus it stops quite frequently every 3-4 hours at places to eat, as opposed to the Train which I took once from KY to DC -12 hours only way to stretch your legs was the bathroom or dining car. I took a bus once from Ohio to Minn. it was like a 2 day trip and would do it again.

That is funny about the fish running into you. I spent more days than I can count at the beach growning up in So, Connecticut. Beaches were everywhere and everyone took full advantage of them as a cheap from of entertainment. It is a wonder I never learned to swim but I never did and even went out up to my nect a few times with my cousins. Most of the time only went waist deep though. I had a crab latch onto my toe once I rememeber coming out of the watch screaming and shakeing my foot to try to get it off until my aunt saved me from the creature, :rotfl:

I am really hopeing I love the BW since the whole theme takes me back to my childhood, the Circus use to come into town and set up eveything down by the water each summer at Seaside Park one of the beaches.
My one uncle worked at the Amusement area at Pleasure Beach and we found ourselves there most weekends.

My DH idea of a vacation is to sit on the balcony or in a lobby with a good book. I tend to go go go although with age I am being forced to slow down.

I agree about the soft opening for Dumbo. Keep your ears open when on the bus, that was how we found out about EE doing a soft opening. In DL they were doing a soft opening of 20000 leagues not sure if that is what the call it and a CM approached us offering we could ride it.

Not sure what they would do in MK to keep it from being totally mobbed during a soft opening. Maybe Guest Services in the Resort will get word? :confused3

You got me starting to think about US, so since yesterday I have been starting to plan a universal trip. Probably will not happen until 2013 but DH is on board to stay at Portofino Bay in US I had him check out the web site :)

I actually got the go-ahead to plan for USF/IoA. :lmao: We aren't sure if we'll get 2 day tickets or just 1 day tickets ... but I'm excited. I've been trying to find a way to go to USF for years! If we can only do one park, it will probably be IoA because of the Dr. Suess area for DS and HP for DD. It seems more family-friendly than USF. But still LOTS of research!

I'm very pleased, I expected to be working on my SAM project (for my Excel class) alllllll weekend, but it only took me 10 minutes, so I get plenty of DIS time this weekend. :woohoo:

I hope you can get a USF trip! I honestly told DH WDW or USF. And based on prices, he went for WDW. Totally surprised me. :confused3

DH would love to just go somewhere (anywhere) and relax ... but I just can't do it. I think it's mostly because I stay home with the kids. I need to be OUT and DOING stuff.

Glad to hear you got the go ahead on US. We use to go for 9-10 days so we were fortunate to be able to delegate going to US and SW a couple of days. I think I mentioned how they use to have buy 1 day tix get 1 day free, hopefully there is a promo out there to save you some money, I know AAA sells tix just like they do for WDW but I remember specifically buying them at the parks US and SW with the Orlando Magic Card and getting the free days

It does still exist not sure what the current discounts are but here is the link

Happy Planning I am trying to find a good place to stay in Savanah now.
DH likes the idea of the Waldorf Astoria near DTD....I think I have him hooked on this Southern Road Trip :cool1:

Well, I'm done obsessing about our ADR's. We're staying CL and find the breakfast offerings more than adequate. I've scheduled a few lunches instead of all dinners so we can take better advantage of the evening appetizers, drinks and sweets.

3/26. Arrival day. Chefs de France-7:10---DH and I enjoy this more than Bistro de Paris.
3/27. Rose and Crown-1:10--we've not been for 4-5 years
3/28. Brown Derby-1:10--we're giving them another try. We had a dinner there 2 years ago and it was gawd awful. The service stunk--food was so-so
3/29. Flying Fish 7:10--one of our raves. If you ever want to splurge--do their Chef's table. We did that in December and were blown away. This trip we'll eat in the regular dining room.
3/30. California Grill- 7:40--this was a great experience last time. Both service and food stellar. Hope we get another table right by the window.

I'm getting excited about this trip--first time to see the flower and garden show!

Added your ADRs. I am still obsessing as whether I want to change a couple of our Breakfast ADRs. I would love to stay CL at BWI everyone raves about it there but DH could never survive on the lounge offerings for breakfast and we do not drink so there is no value there for us. I tried talking DH into booking CL and drop the DxDP , just do DDP instead but he loves his big sit down breakfast while on vacation so it was a no go.

The F & G is great we went for the first time 3 years ago, the topiaries are fantastic. I wish we were going to be there for the Flower Power Concerts in 2009 we saw Paul Revere and the Raiders, what a blast from my past,,,great fun :lovestruc We will only be at the Festival the first 2 days unfortunately

I added another ADR!!! Sunday 3/4 Kona cafe for breakfast I'm super excited :) this will be OOP since its reasonably priced. Yum yum yum I'm so excited this trip is going to be amazing! :woohoo:

Lol it's a good thing I work out because I will be eating so much on vacation :rotfl:

I added your breakfast at Kona! :thumbsup2

I changed two of my breakfast ADRs today, we are not doing Boma's on March 5 and Cap't Grill on March 8th and we decided instead of having breakfast at Kouzzina's on our last morning instead to either grab a bite at the Belle Vue Lounge or the Boardwalk Bakery and spend time on the Boardwalk savoring our last morning there.:goodvibes

Grrr I'm so upset. I found a 5:30 reservation for le Cellier on 3/6 typed in my cc info and it froze. Went back to redo it and the 5:30 slot was gone!!!! Stupid iPad. It cost me a dinner at le Cellier. Gabe said to look on the bright side, we still have lunch there but still

Well I'm a crazy girl! I did a complete overhaul on my ADRs!!! I promise this is the final lineup lol. I was so mad after losing that ressie last night....well I had amazing luck this morning :) so here we go::dance3:

3/3/12. *Ohana dinner*
3/4/12 *Kona Cafe breakfast OOP
3/4/12. Le Cellier DINNER yay
3/5/12. *Narcoossees dinner OOP my bday dinner from bf
3/6/12. *ohana breakfast OOP Disney rewards points :)

Added Kona Cafe breakfast for March 7 at 7:45... Looking forward to trying Tonga toast and french press pot coffee hehe

Oh no! Hope you can find another for dinner. I just changed our Le Cellier lunch from our first full day to our last full day and shifted around my Via Napoli and added Marrakesh as a surprise for DH since he has always wanted to eat there ( I know the attraction is the belly dancer ) I ended up cancelling the 2 late nights I had planned for DTD who am I kidding I will be lucky to keep DH awake until 9pm let alone Midnight. :rotfl:

So I am back to my plan of doing DTD on our last morning after breakfast keeping fingers crossed the Characters Flight Balloon will be operating and some last minute shopping.

I think I am done tweeking my ADRs for now :rotfl2:

Too funny your Le Cellier on 3/8 is the one I snatched up in order to change my days around and give us more time after Breakfast to head to DTD on 3/8 or last day which led me to move my Via Napoli previously 11:30 on 3/8 to 2pm on 3/5 to give us more time to explore AKL after breakfast at Bomas.

Glad you got your dinner Le Cellier and gave up your lunch on 3/8 :yay:

Good Monday Morning All

The more I thought about the surprise ADR for Marrakesh I made for DH I decided overnight that I needed to change the time so I changed it to 4:15pm instead of 3:30. I think this will be better DH to see the belly dancer......I did some more research and it seems the show starts at 5:00pm but the belly dancer start 10 mins later.

Anyone ever eat there ? I looked over the menu again and The Royal Feast sounds good the menu lists it at $42.99 and the lastest info I could find on the Dining boards say you can order it with one TS credit and depending on your plan either DDP or DxDP there is an upcharge of $5-7 pp but this was back in 2010. I am sure they raised the upcharge by now.

Anyway hope everyone has a great day, raining , roads are icy and school delays here in Connecticut.

I've never eaten there ... I'm not much of being an adventurous eater! :lmao: But if the dancer makes her appearance at around 5:10, a 4:15 ADR would probably be better. And you can eat slowly. :thumbsup2

I've not looked at the menu, so not sure what that is, or how it works. :confused3 Maybe someone will be in the know and can let ya in on how it works! :goodvibes

Drive safe if the roads are bad! We're just getting a ton of rain.

It is funny the older I get the more adventurous I have become in my eating. DH not so much but he insisted when we looked at pictures of the food at Marrakesh that "some" he would eat. I still believe the big draw is the belly dancer but I am gonna call his bluff and surprise him. But I had to make sure we are going to be there for the show, ya know? DH wolfs his food down to try and get him to eat slow is impossible, it is one of the things I harp on him about all the time since I am a slow eater, I like to taste and enjoy my food.

I made cous cous (sp)years ago just to try it but I can not remember if DH ate it or not, it seems to be a staple with every Moroccan meal

I have a lot of tummy issues, so I get nervous about eating new foods. Anything spicy usually doesn't bode well for me.

I did, however, try yellow curry yesterday. That was something new. I didn't like the flavor, and if I had to eat a lot of it, it would have bothered my tummy, but the spice wasn't too bad in small doses. It just didn't taste good to me. The kids took a bite and then chugged their drinks down. :lmao: I took a bite, and while it had a "kick", it wasn't anywhere close to what I expected. DH loved it. He said the color worried him at first, because it was more orange than yellow, and I could SMELL the spices!!! :scared1: My tummy was getting upset just sniffing DH's food.

I just don't think I'm brave enough for Morroccan food though. Please don't tell my DH about the belly dancer though. He may ask to eat there. :lmao: In all honesty, I'm surprised he hasn't asked anyway. He loves to try new things. :confused3 Maybe he has forgotten about Morrocco?

Also, I would hate to order something and not like it at all. Then I'm tied down to an icky dish and I have to leave hungry. I could be adventurous at a buffet! :rotfl2:

As far as I know I have never tried anything flavored with curry. I know Saana which has lots of dishes based on India foods and curry flavored.

See I am afraid even though something sounds good it might not taste so good, but that is why I have scheduled this "surprise" meal between lunch and dinner, that way if either of us do not like the food and eat next to nothing other than a waste of a TS credit we won't go hungry with Cape May later that evening.

I know I paid good money for the DxDP but its paid for now so trying Marrakesh seems like a good idea when I am not laying out all that money at the time we eat or don't eat as the case may be. My crazy logic

We are going on a Adult Trip with another couple March 5th to the 13th. Will also be celebrating my wifes bday on the 12th. We will be staying at POP. And very well may take part in the DIS Meet during this trip!

That sounds like a great plan! I'd be tempted to try it on a future trip when I didn't feel like it was a "waste" if we didn't like it, and I could also dine on things I know I'd love! :thumbsup2
