I know that these hurricanes are unwelcome and all but I just came up with a weird questions.

For some reason, has there been any benefit due to the hurricanes?

I'm not just talking about WDW stuff (I've read the crowds are light due to the canceled vacations) but other situations that occurred only during the passing of a hurricane.

Iheard on the news that ALOT of babies are born during a Hurricane something about the pressure level
the same reporter said there area also more born about 9 months after the Hurricane:eek:

Can't think of any benefits from these hurricanes. News hasn't mentioned any either.

Maybe if you are a roofing contractor the hurricane was good news for your business.

The saltwater fishing right before a hurricane is great. The fish must sense the impending doom because they are in a feeding frenzy.

If one of the Gulf States has been experiencing a drought, a Hurricane can make up for a rain shortage.

There was an article in the paper last week that said hurricanes can help areas like the Everglades, not only by replenishing the water supply but by helping to flush out some of the accumulated pollutants. They said this was particularly true in the case of multiple storms like this year, as repeated flushings are more beneficial.

Small consolation to those who have lost everything.

True to both parts. The prssure changes, and I personally think the stress in expectant mothers, do cause lots of babies to be born. Our local maternity hospital schedules extra labor and delivery staff during hurricanes. True to more babies being born afterwards too. No power=no computer or TV=more babies

Yes this is true, but it also causes erosion and flooding, since what we consider a drought is not really what the rest of the country considers a drought, I'll take a drought over a hurricane.

hurricanes can help areas like the Everglades, not only by replenishing the water supply but by helping to flush out some of the accumulated pollutants.

Yes this is true also, not only for the everglades but the swamps too, however it can also cause destuction to massive areas of these enviroments, so that benifit is just the "luck of the draw"
