Hello everyone,

I am interested in staying on site at a Universal Hotel, probably during October. Could someone advise of a method to get the best rate for one of these hotels. Is it to buy an annual pass and take advantage of the discounts they offer, or are there any sites that you can book through that provide a good deal ??

Thanks

Barrie

We booked on the Universal web site and got a AAA rate as we are AA members. With Universal they will honour a new lower rate when it comes out so when a better AP rate became available for our dates we changed to that.

If you have a look at the Universal Resorts Board on the Dis they have loads of good info there

If you are considerning an Annual Pass, they have a very good offer on at the moment whereby you get an extra year free.
Basically they activate on September 2007 and expire 2 years later.

We bought ours over the weekend.

I know as AP holders you get discounted rates for the hotels but have never used this myself.

The Universal hotels are operated by Loews. You can join the Loews loyalty program which gives good rates and also freebies like wine or fruit on check-in. Check out the website for full details.

I would also recommend joining the loyalty programme. We always get a bottle of wine and a jar or nuts waiting in our room on arrival. They've just sent me gold membership for being a loyal customer and, although we've yet to use it, it says we get upgrade to a suite for only $35 extra per night.

As other have said, AAA and AP rates tend to be the best. If you aren't already an AA member, the cost to sign up may well be covered by the room discount. If you show your AA card you can also bag 10% discount off of food/drink in the parks. :goodvibes

We booked RPR with an AP rate at Easter - the free parking and food & merchandise discount make it worth getting one AP or us anyway especially as we usually stay for more than 2 weeks.

This October however we have booked HRH with a Military discount which I didn't know existed and saved over $100 :thumbsup2

I don't know if this still exists but when we went in 2004 we stayed for a night at the Portofino to get FOTL Access and got a great rate using the Entertainment book Orlando edition. I also booked before I had the Entertainment book.
