I just stopped by our Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department on post, and they handed me a new flyer that advertises Universal Orlando's Military Salute. Free 2-park Unlimited Admission Ticket for Active Duty/Retired Service Members, and save $35 on each ticket for family and friends!! The offer is available through June 28th, 2009, and the tickets are good for up to 6 days from first use. Tickets are valid through 12/18/09.

    :cool1:

Contact your local MWR or Shades of Green for more info!

this is awesome news!

I've been waiting for Universal to do this. I've left comments on those guest feedback forms about the military tickets which disney and busch theme parks offer and that those free tickets from them make it really hard for me to go to universal.

I'm so glad that they are doing this for our men and women that serv
I got three family members on active duty-but state side for now- and they deserve this!!:thumbsup2

Well I'm happy for anyone who gets to use these.

It won't work for us because the deal ends before we would be able to use them. :sad2:

so do you just have to purchase the tickets by June 28th? and they are good til 12/18?

My DH is going to be in Orlando in April, can he go pick up the tickets for me, him and our 2 kids and then we can use them when we go in Oct?

Anyone know how this is going to work? Do you purchase tickets at your base or at park? Would love any additional info anyone has!

Thanks,
Carmel

the cynic in me assumes it's in response to the Disney offer, still if ur eligible...enjoy it to the max:banana:

i've stated this on the Disney side of the board re the gratis military tix, yet to be fair:rolleyes: im compelled to complain here too on behalf of those who served in other conflicts (viet nam especially)...have DD214 in hand, yet didn't retire so, they're still not getting any luv:rolleyes1

at ease

Does anyone know what the $35 off price would be? Thanks!

Without a doubt it's in response to disney and busch gardens, in this economy it's going to take a deal to get people in, especially if 2 other parks in the vicinity are giving away admission. At least they are doing it, regardless of why. I will take all the discounts I can get! ;)

Just checking to see if anyone can give me the price of the family rate. The OP said $35 off, but just curious to see what the end price would be before I send my retired military dad over to base to purchase tickets.

BTW- he won a free ticket with the Superbowl content and now gets a free week at Disney and Universal. I bet he spends a lot of time in the Orlando area this summer :) Good for him!! :thumbsup2

if he has interest in a DCL cruise, i saw military rates for 7 day less than $650 pp for dates in May on Magic #12:thumbsup2 ...typically ranges $2K to $1K that time period...not sure if they allow u to book up to 2 additional cabins or not ala other lines

confused as to OP stating

does flyer state that the U tix require military ID @ the gate to use the tix?popcorn:: evidently, needed for the Disney ones last post i read...probably to keep them from being used by those the program not intended for (or eBay:rolleyes: )...shouldn't be a big deal as military families should all have ID card even for the kiddos (medical)

Only the kids over ten would have ID's, my oldest dragged me in on her tenth birthday to get hers.;)
:thumbsup2 handy, jik she's carded:laughing:

OT big fuss in PIT re major hospital in area balking accepting champus/tricare:sad2: due to lower payment reimbursements...just wrong. Hooray for the whistleblower!

:scratchin Does anyone have any idea how my husband can get his free ticket if we are obviously NOT in America and our MWR doesn't carry attraction tickets? Our vacation is not until August, so by then it would be too late to pick it up from SOG or Stateside military base.

We are having the same problem. Our ITT is not carrying the Disney or Universal tickets. We lucked out and my Dh needs to retrain in Texas the end of June. He is going to pick them up there for our December vacation.

This will work great for us since I got a free 7 day tix with the Superbowl promotion. Now DH's will be free and we will save the $35 per person for the two kids.

The flyer says *Savings based on Universal Orlando Resort theme parks front gate Adult 2 Park Unlimited Ticket retail price of $124.99...sooooo, I'm thinking it would be around 89.99. Not such a bargain to me, because I'm thinking that's what MWR sells them for all the time. :confused3 BUT, the free ticket is definitely worth it! We are going to US/IOA for a part of our Honeymoon, and have already pre-purchased our tickets, so we are going to go ahead and get/use the free ticket when we get there, and then will have an extra ticket with no expiration for our next trip! :cool1:

That's tough, the only thing I can think of is to have a state-side Army buddy get him one (if he dosen't plan on using it himself), since it wouldn't be activated until you got to US/IOA. You could probably just get the companion one when you get stateside, at SOG. Like I said, it's not that big of a bargain, about what MWR usually sells the tickets for any way.

Not too many of the ITT/MWRs "carry" the tickets, but if they are doing their job, they should be able to order them for you! Stateside at least...I'm not sure about OCONUS though, like Italy.

This is our situation. We purchased the Universal tickets back in August 08 for the August 09 vacation. *BTW, we got them for $78 each at Ft Eustis in Newport News Va. :thumbsup2 * Anyway, we figured we would get the free one and save it for a later vacation.
