Hi all,

My family is hoping to visit Universal for one day on Sunday January 5th following our cruise (we fly out Jan 6th). We would hopefully be getting to the parks around 8/9am and would stay the full day. I understand this is right after the holidays - are crowds still pretty bad? Just wondering if I should purchase express pass/stay in a more expensive resort for our single day there! Thanks!

Given that January 1 is on a Wednesday next year, I assume most folks will stay through the following weekend. Weekends are also generally more crowded. If you can swing it, it may be worth booking a Premier hotel for January 5 if you wanted to get Express for the day. Portofino, Hard Rock, or Royal Pacific will all give you Express. Just be sure to book the accurate number of folks in your party in the room.

Edited to fix the assumption that you didn't need a hotel room on January 5.

We visited right around that time in 2022 and 2023. It was busy but manageable. I would definitely recommend upgrading to one of the Premiere hotels to get EP for your arrival and departure day.

ok sounds good! we will only spend one day in the parks, but EP will make it much more manageable!
