United award miles

Anyone have experience with flights opening up for award miles? Right now I can get down to MCO on April 7th but there are no return flights using award points. Is it possible that will change as the date gets closer and seats go unfilled?

Doesn't usually happen. DH has a ton of miles on United. If there are no flights with it available there probably won't be. Are you sure it's not a blackout date? That would be the main reason that there are NO flights with award points usable. They don't open up new seats for awards just because seats are unsold. Usually, a flight has x number of award seats and those don't change. If you really want the answer, call United and ask.

NO! This is wrong. Award seats on United open up all the time. Keep checking. I use award miles on UA several times a year and have often seen seats open up. I've also been successful changing my standard award seat to a saver award when savers open up. This has happened even after I've taken my outbound flight (that's why I book domestic award tickets as one ways; easier to make changes).

Make sure you are logged in when searching. More flights showed after I logged in. Low and behold more non stop flights to Orlando and Mexico! 2 vacations this year!

Yes, it does make a difference, but only if you are a Premier Member (silver status and above).
