united airlines

Thanks for chiming in on thsi thread. That is an interesting change. I thought the weight was the biggest issue but I guessed wrong.:rotfl: Anyway, its good to know, my problem with packing is usually the weight so I might be considering United in the future. Thanks again for the info.:thumbsup2

Please note the no weight limit is for carry-on baggage, not checked baggage.

I'm taking my first JetBlue flight out of National next Wednesday. I was not pleased to read the article in the Post about how overextended National is now. We'll see how it goes, but my hopes are not high. We've just been so spoiled by Dulles (especially those morning flights where there's barely a security line).

I would love to hear what you think about your first time. We flew in and out of DCA last month on Jetblue for a last minute trip (we took the metro from Shady Grove into DCA after getting a ride there from Charles Town, WV). The area where JB is located was so small and crowded there were not 2 seats together anywhere, even in the other airlines' waiting area. Security was easy though. We are so spoiled with Dulles esp. those early morning flights. We leave in two weeks and booked United out of Dulles. I hate having to pay for my luggage, but we got our fares really cheap ($80 each), so it was the same price that Jetblue was charging for that same day out of DCA. However, our flight home is into DCA and will pick up a rental car and drive ourselves home. I keep hoping that another airline will return to Dulles (either Jetblue or Southwest) with some non-stop Florida flights. I don't have a clue what we are doing in January for that trip, but the May 2013 trip we may be looking at BWI since we have extended family with us then. Not a big fan of SW, but it's only a 2 hour flight, so I guess we will do what we need to do.

They should allow the backpack as a personal item as long as it fits fully underneath the seat or they can close the compartment and it doesn't take up a whole compartment. The airlines are more interested in the size of the item than the shape it takes.

I usually don't have a lot of problems from National, including security lines, especially out of Terminal A (the "old" terminal) where Jetblue is. In case you don't know, it's kind of a long walk to Terminal A if you are coming in from the Metro. Haven't observed about seating in the terminal because I'm not sitting with anybody, but if I get up to go to the loo I do lose my chair.

Not counting on Dulles. United appears to be the only airline there that still does nonstops on the Orlando run. Used to be SWA, Jetblue and AirTran all ran nonstops out of Dulles.

I'm at DCA tomorrow in the US Airways terminal...they have a 5 Guys so I know where lunch is. Not many food options in the old terminal.
