United Airlines. . .stable thru Nov?

Going to WDW in November--Thanksgiving week. I'm a little leery to wait for the prices to come out for Southwest and AirTran because it's such a busy travel week. . .

Is United stable? I'm not too interested in booking on US Airways for a November flight, and have found a United flight with the right schedule PHL to TPA for 185/pp.

Go for it? Wait until all options can be weighed? :D

United is operating under Chapter 11, just like ATA and US Airways. But whereas ATA is shrinking into a much smaller airline and US Airways' longterm survival is still uncertain, there's currently no reason to think that United won't emerge from Chapter 11 as a viable carrier, looking much as it does today.

Personally, I would not book on US Airways for November 2005, but I would not hesitate to book on United.

Just make sure that your United flight is not a codeshare flight that is actually operated by US Airways. As far as I know, United doesn't really fly nonstops between PHL and TPA; United slaps United flight numbers onto nonstops that are operated by US Airways. If US Airways ceases operations, I assume that United would still get you to your destination -- but it could be an inconvenient connection at a different time, rather than the nonstop at the time you wanted to travel.

I have a flight booked with United for April and it is a code share flight with Us air :guilty:
I spoke with our travel agent who suggested to have a back plan in place . I now have tickets with southwest as welll.
I am hoping for the best.
