My wife and I are heading to Disneyland Paris this coming Sunday (10/16) for three nights. I just posted another thread about dining, but I'd also like to get recommendations from those of you who have been to WDW or DLR in California about the attractions or things to do at DLP that are unique to that park.

A few things on my list already:
  • Space Mountain: although there is a Space Mountain at both DLR and WDW, I understand that this version is unique.
  • Big Thunder Mountain: again, this is a unique version of an old favorite.
  • Peter Pan: at the risk of a flame, the DLR is superior to WDW and I want to see whether DLP measures up.
  • Sleeping Beauty's Castle and the dragon in the basement.
  • Haunted Mansion: again, to compare.
  • Tower of Terror: I understand this is like the one at Disney's California Adventure, not the better one at WDW.
  • Crush's Coaster: this is unique, although it looks like the Triceratops Spin at the Animal Kingdom.
  • Armageddon Special Effects

Attractions that I'm OK missing:
  • Star Tours: I understand this is the old version.
  • It's a Small World: no need to comment.

So what am I missing? What's your favorite that I'm completely passing by?

Thanks for your help!

Indiana Jones
Animagique (Really fantastic show in my opinion)
Stitch Live is not to be missed

There are others, but those are the ones I'd be sure to add to the list you have.

Cinemagique - it's the film version of the Great Movie Ride but IMO it's far, far superior.

Pirates of the Caribbean - even if you don't do the ride try to walk up that way. It's lovely walking through Adventureland and seeing the fort in the distance.

Also ..... it's a small world - I know you said you're OK missing it but this version does feature the US - I don't know if that will persuade you to ride!

Not a ride, but I think the Nautilus walk through is excellent and worth a visit on your way to or from Space Mountain.

You're right about our Space Mountain, it's completely different to the American versions, far more intense.

Most of the rides are different to their American counterparts:

Pirates is set out in a different order (caves last) and doesn't have Jack Sparrow (which is a positive!)

Thunder Mountain is on it's own island and you go under the river to get to it which is fun.

Phantom Manor has a completely different storyline.

Small world etc... are similar but different!

As for the things not to miss, it depends on what you like.

Cinemagique is excellent and is (imho) one of the best shows in any Disney park. It's fantastically romantic and unique!

Crushes coaster is good if you like coasters. It's a pretty standard rotating coaster but it's fun and nicely themed.

Toy Story Playland is fun. It's nicely themed but the rides are basic. Worth a look though if you're a fan of the films.

You can also go upstairs in the castle and out onto the balcony as well as visiting the dragon in the dungeon

Alices Maze is unique as is Adventure Isle where you can explore the caves etc.

I like POC in DLP rather than DL as I prefer the order and the drops are slightly bigger (I cant remember it in WDW)

As already mentioned BTM is on an island which is really fun - try and ride it at night as well.

Indiana Jones is a coaster rather than a ride like DL - however I love the DL version

Space Mountain goes upside down unlike the ones in WDW and DL

Cinemagique and Animagique are really worth seeing.
Stitch is similar to Turtle Talk in DL

The Pirates Of The Caribbean ride we think the DLRP version is better than the WDW one, mainly because there are 2 drops as opposed to 1 in Florida.
Makes my son laugh. :)

Peter Pan however the WDW version is themed better and is more smooth, we found the Paris one very jerky.

You will find many have slight differences, but we liked the fact there are rides at DLRP that WDW doesn't have such as Casey Jr, Crush's Coaster, Pinnochio and more.

Crushes Coaster is more like Primeval Whirl rather than Triceratops Spin, however it's brilliantly themed unlike it's Animal Kingdom counterpart.

Indy is not like the DL ride (which is basically Dinosaur) however it's a pretty standard coaster. And short too.

Oh and DLP Pirates is the best of the lot :)

:goodvibes

From my experience Phantom manor is a must! I grew up with the DLRP version but now only visit DLR, they are similar but different. I love the styling and surroundings of the paris version, its a little 'darker' in my opinion, definitely worth a look! Also animagique, such a great show and it has a very catchy theme song! Indiana Jones is completely different, a roller coaster, last time I was there it was going backwards, not sure if its changed since :rotfl:
Its not a ride but also take a stroll down the arcade on the right side of mainstreet (if you're facing the castle) at night it is all lit up, very pretty :goodvibes

Have a great trip!
