Union may file a greivance against an Eagle Scout for taking their jobs* WITH AUDIO

I always though Damon Wayans was the last Boy Scout. Man, if you can't trust what you learn in over the top action flicks from the early 90's what can you trust :confused3

You can trust what you learned in cheezy 80's cartoons.

And now you know. And knowing is half the battle. ;)

Actually I thought is was Bruce Willis....no?

Huh, could be. I though at some point in the movie Bruce refereed to Damon as a Boy Scout. Usually useless information like that sticks in my head while useful information just falls right out never to be recalled again.

Bingo! Not everyone believes in God.

As for the other, I'm sure you know it's not about political action on the part of boy scouts, but about the exclusion of gay Scoutmasters.

Boy Scouting makes no effort to discover the sexual orientation of any person

But if they find out somehow (ETA: that the orientation isn't the one they consider correct), they no longer welcome that person as a Scoutmaster. :thumbsup2

Great. Now I am going to have to haul that movie out and watch it again, just to see. Thanks a lot. ;)

True,
Not just a Scoutmaster, but a member of the organization.

This is a widely misunderstood aspect of BSA.
BSA does not teach, advise, influence or reference sex in any way.
It is not part of the program.

Just as they don't allow openly gay people to lead, they do not allow straight people for expressing views on sexuality.
The program does not allow for views on sex, period.
There are other places for parents to send their kids for that if they feel they can't handle it at home.

Thanks for confirming the discriminatory practices of the BSA. :thumbsup2

Well, well - I just learned something new about the boy scouts. I guess it's common knowledge that must have somehow escaped me over the years, but I would have never thought that someone's sexual orientation would exclude them from leading a scout troop. Doesn't seem fair, does it??

No, it doesn't. :sad2:

you don't get or choose not to.
Sexual orientation is NOT part of the BSA program.
They do not want to know.
They don't want to hear people talking about if they are gay or straight.
It is not part of the program.
If some leader or member does not abide by this, they will be asked to leave.
A straight leader espousing his beliefs about his sexual orientaion is no more welcome than a gays.

There is a long and sophisticated Youth Protection Program for all leaders which includes that the subject is NOT to come up.

A quick google on the topic was very enlightening. Apparently you don't have to say a word about it - it's enough that the boy scouts know you're gay. Not talking about it, not espousing your beliefs to the scouts - just being gay. Discrimination is something that I vehemently disagree with.

How is that even legal?
This is an interesting read.

A gay leader can lead without bringing up sex just as easily as a straight leader can. This never ceases to amaze me. How can people actually believe that it isn't discriminatory to assume that gay people espouse their beliefs just by their presence, while straight people need to actually talk about it? :confused3
