I redeemed my MyPoints into WebCertificates. Not very difficult - it ended up happening within a few days time.
Now I wanted to purchase a Mastercard credit card - with the value of the WebCertificates on it.
I called the 800 number - knew it would cost me $6.95 to get the plastic card - but I am okay with this.
Then the wierd part happend ... the agent I was talking to told me I had to fax them either a copy of my drivers license or a bill - something that had my name and address together to prove I was who I am - in order to get the plastic Mastercard.
Since I dont have a fax machine - he suggested I run out to Kinko's at 10:30pm and perform this little task.
I refused. On many levels.
My driver's license has more information than just my name and address and a picture of me. It has enough information that someone may choose to open a credit account. I also do not want to send them a bill - they dont need the account information related to that bill.
I offered to black out the information that I felt they did not need - and he told me that would not be acceptable.
Has anyone else encountered such wierdness with Web Certificates and getting a plastic Mastercard?
I also wrote to MyPoints and told them I was very unhappy with the events that occurred with Web Certificates.
